Alastor prob knew that Lucifer wouldnt kill him cause that would cause irreparable damage with his relationship with charlie. So he felt he could get away with insulting lucifer
12:57 See, I believe the point of Alastor fighting over Charlie with Lucifer is that clearly, being a sinner, Alastor doesn’t hold a candle to Lucifer’s power, and he doesn’t like that. So he picks a battle he believes he can win to one-up Lucifer: being a better “father”-figure to Charlie. It’s like his way of keeping himself at the top of the pedestal (in a way unrelated to pure power) even in the presence of the King of Hell, so I personally think it’s great plot-wise, if maybe a little subtle. I don’t think it necessarily has anything to do with Charlie personally, she’s just a tool for him to use to pick at Lucifer’s most obvious weakness: his insecurity in his role as Charlie’s father lol
i think he does it to ensure charlies deal, if lucifer gets in the way maybe charley ask him instead of alastor and the most needy hour and alastor clearly need that favor for whatever reason. So he must ensure he is charley first choice
It's more of stretch but it could also have something to do with his time away. We know that he was gone for the same amount of time Lilith was and maybe he's close with her somehow? I don't know but the minute lucifer walked in the door alastor had beef with him and even for a psychopath like him that didn't seem normal.
Alastor was a Momma`s Boy when he was alive. Like, he was a half-Creole, half-white kid from New Orleans whose father was super abusive and whose mother was extremely doting. That`s why Alastor is more friendly and comfortable with women in authority than other men who are more powerful than himself in general.
Al doesn't strike me as a "Momma's boy" type...he seems more like the type who would kill a kid's mother, eat their corpse right in front of them and laugh in their face
@@SilverScribe85 I can't recall where it's established, but he is in fact a bit of a Momma's Boy. She's the one person Alastor genuinely and sincerely loved and had a healthy relationship with. Alastor also fancies himself something of an old fashioned 'southern gentleman' so he tends to always be especially polite and courteous with women. Even when he insults or prods or ridicules women, he is far more reserved and words it more politely than he does with men. One fascinating part of Alastor's character is that he hasn't really kept up with modern terminology and understanding of sexual preferences. He understands bi, straight and gay relations/people, but the orientation that continues to elude his understanding is in fact his own; Aro/Ace. Alastor, being an old fashioned gentleman and a Momma's Boy, genuinely believes he's heterosexual and was likely raised with old fashioned romantic ideals regarding relationships, so while he recognizes he's never felt attraction for anyone, he genuinely believes he WILL someday feel attraction and romantic affection for the exact one right woman for him and it will feel as natural and normal as any other straight person. It's a little tragic, honestly.
@@perrycarters3113 I can DEFINITELY believe him not being familiar with modern terminology...but I'm still skeptical about the mother thing until I see evidence
I like how you're one of the few guys I've seen not gulping down on alastor's shoes so hard you can't tell he's obviously manipulative and untrustworthy. Everyone else seems to think he's had a change of heart by now, jesus, people are so used to turning off their brain while watching shows that they can't even come up with anything they are not straight up told to the face at this point.
I like Alastor, but cuz he’s kinda funny and a lot of my favourite lines come from him, not because I think he’s: ‘changed his mind’ it’s kinda obvious that he’s manipulative lol
In response to your comment about shipping, Alastor`s canonically aroace and also a cannibalistic, psychopathic serial killer who fakes his feelings to manipulate people.
