I'm not sure if I've shared the meaning behind this song before, but I grew up in Panama and spent a lot of time in the rainforest outside my neighborhood as a kid. Years after moving away the city they decided to cut down that whole area to make way for infrastructure, and it was a very difficult time in my life. I always regarded that place a haven I could return to if the world got to be too much and I just wanted to feel like a kid again. It was pretty devastating to learn it was gone.
Living in Northern California, I can relate. We always are having forest fires there, and in both 2015 and 2018 my house burnt down. It was my escape from life, the nature I was surrounded by. I had to move shortly after due to family conflicts, and now I live in a completely different state. Its hard to move and have so much change from a single event, losing that familiarity. I just hope I find my way home
This song is so pure and heavenly 🥀🦋🌳🌻🌸🌷its multidimentional..thank you for sharing it. I like the collab with Dabin on this..it kinda reminds me of Jars Of Clay "Worlds Apart" Im sure the vocals could mesh a remix maybe? Chords n harmonies..tears. Really beautiful and unique.
[Lyrics] City lights Fold in the blinds but you're all that I see when I Close my eyes Wondering how you slipped away Maybe I'm out of touch Or maybe I said too much A paradise lost in the urban exhaust Wish you could have stayed Tell me again, was it fate that stole my soul When you left with the wind down that cold and lonely road? Stripped of our leaves, an Eden overthrown Caught in a dream, where the streetlights fade and all I know is Home (home) You're all I've ever known (home) Kerosene The forest in flames, only ashes remain In this fever dream Nothing's the way it used to be Maybe we're growing up Or maybe our time is up The seasons went by and our innocence died Like the fallen trees Tell me again, was it fate that stole my soul When you left with the wind down that cold and lonely road? Stripped of our leaves, an Eden overthrown Caught in a dream, where the streetlights fade and all I know is Home (home) You're all I've ever known (home) All I know is home (home) You're all I've ever known (home) You're all I've ever known You're all I've ever known
This is one of the most beautiful rendition of your songs. Thank you for making this kinda music. You were the first artist I contacted via Insta and the first artist who actually replied. I can't ever forget that kindness.

What a beautiful song, and such beautiful lyrics, the feeling is felt through its words and the sound conveys a feeling of wanting to cry and go back to the past where we were happy, thank you very much for making this music
When I heard first heard this song, I scrolled down to sub wondering how many subs the artist has, proly atleast a few hundred K's. The day isnt very far though.
@@ellisback6519 I got pretty close after playing around with my guitar! The song is tuned a half-step up, or you can play it with a capo on the first fret. Transposing the song for standard tuning, the base notes are different variations of E, D, and C for most of the song, with what sounds like an A and B transition at some points. The closest sounding chords I got were basically taking the 4 finger version of the Cadd9 chord as a base configuration for all the other chords except D, keeping fingers 3 and 4 in the same position as in Cadd9 and just shifting fingers 1 and 2 around to play everything else (E, Cadd9, A, and 1 finger on the "B" transition chord). The D chord is standard D. The song starts with that E chord on the lyric "city lights", into regular D, and then Cadd9 for "Fold in the blinds". For the part that starts with the lyric "tell me again" the chords go into D, E, C pretty rapidly over and over, before getting to what sounds like an A chord on the lyric "Cold and", "B" for "lonely" and C for "Road", with the same transition happening again later starting with "A" on the lyric "streetlights fade and", transitioning onto "B" for "all I" and "Cadd9" for "know is" before going back to "D" for "Home", using the D, E, C chord pattern for the chorus, until it gets to the next verse, starting with "Kerosene", where it switches back to E, D, C chord pattern. There's a pull off on certain parts on the Cadd9 chord which is heard several times, such as in the intro before the first verse. Simply pulling off the 1 finger from the D string seems to recreate this sound. Hope that helps!
