Growing up our family had a female dachshund that sat up begging like that. One hot summer day people opened their doors to let the breeze come in The next door neighbors were eating in their living room. Our dog Heidi walks in and starts begging like she belonged there. She figured everyone should feed her cuz she's so cute.
Mine is 13 now, and has been doing this his entire life. No back issues. He's standing up on 2 legs just as often as he is on all 4s. It seems he thinks he's one of us humans... 🤷🏻
Easily. I remind them that I don't hover over their bowl when they're trying to eat & that they aren't going to starve. Besides, they get fed before I eat,no matter how long I have to wait.
They are sooo cute but they're tiny and will eat endlessly if you let them :( if they gain a bit of weight it can be really bad for their spines. Best to keep them to their own food and treats as to not develop bad habits.
That dog could eat an entire turkey. They don’t know when to stop- it’s like “I’m awake - you’re awake, why aren’t we eating? Mom? There’s nothing in my mouth I’m going to bark now until you give in!”
Mine gets his paws going, too. Little begger. People are so tickled when they see him do it the first time. He wants their attention! Pet me! He's quite the charmer. Everyone he meets is a potential petter so he gives them plenty of opportunity! Unless you're sketchy--he can read a sketchy person in a heartbeat and lets the whole neighborhood know it! He's never been wrong, either.
Mine always did the same thing at every meal. She wouldn't eat anything except what we were having. It didn't matter what it was, if we were eating it she wanted the same thing. If we put something different in her bowl she'd just walk away from it and beg at the table
Bud hovers under my 77 yo sister's chair at the kitchen table. If she's doing anything with food he's right there. She doesn't feed him but she drops stuff. He can hear a popcorn package being touched from the other end of the house. I told her Buddy could have a bit. I meant maybe 6 pieces. She was sharing the bag with the little hoggie doggie. Love my Bud to the moon and back but keeping his weight in check is the most loving thing I could do for him!
@@lizmaguirre78 My old boy would run in the kitchen when the "cheese" drawer would open. Open the other drawers, nothing. We tested his hearing knowledge. It was fun. We buried him with a slice of cheese.
They sure do listen, and can hear the slightest food wrapper noise, and come flying in to investigate what you're eating. My 2 can be upstairs, sound asleep, at 3 a.m., but 5 seconds after I quietly open the fridge, I hear their paws scurrying down the hallway.... Every time.
I have had doxies my whole life. Strange thing, only the girls would do this. Boys would try but couldn’t quite do it for some reason. Maybe their chests were bigger and their center of gravity was different. Girls got it no problem.
It's so hard to resist them when they do that. But it's hard on their backs. Don't let them. They could end up paralyzed in their rear legs. I've no reason to lie to you. My life has been enriched by dachshunds both in and out of wheelchairs.
We have one that does this everyday for the last 13 years, and no back issues at all. Then we have another one that has never done this, but has had to have 2 back surgeries because he was paralyzed twice in the same 13 year lifespan as our other one. You either get one that's prone to I.V.D.D., or you don't. It's hit and miss. Look as carefully as you can into their bloodline before you choose a pup. Our 2 came from totally different breeders.
Mine both did occasiinally but I never encouraged it. My 20 y/o was from a breeder. He always seemed to know his breed was prone to back issues. He took stairs down very carefully. Front first and bring hind around and settle then repeat. Always gingerly. He climbed up like old people. One step at a time. My wheelchair boy, he may have been bred but I rescued him from a horrid home. He thought he could fly. After 4 years of playing "Underdog " no matter how I tried to stop him, he ended up IVDD. He lived till he died at 11 from cancer but even without his chair, he'd drag his happy ass top speed for a squirrel. Gotta live 'em.
@@motherlesschild746 Yep, it's hard to keep 'em down.. The one we have that has been paralyzed twice got into a kind of "funk" the first time, looked very sad, and wouldn't touch any of his toys or do much of anything but lay in his bed. After a little prodding by sliding his favorite toys towards him, and snatching them away right as they would touch his nose, he finally grabbed one and went to town shaking it and tossing it up and down around him. He took his first wobbly steps about a week and a half after his surgery. 4 weeks later he was running around the backyard again like nothing ever happened. The second time it happened to him again, about 2.5 years later, after that surgery he was much more patient, and seemed to understand that the paralysis will pass and he took it much better. About the same, he took his first steps about a week later, and fully recovered in about a month. It's been about 7 years now, and no more issues since. These dogs are SO full of character, and are a blast to have around.
At least she's quiet... When one of mine stands up and does this at dinner time, he barks every 15 seconds if he doesn't get anything, just to remind us that he's there, and waiting. Spoiled rotten.. One can't help it though.🤷🏻 I think over the years our kids used to sneak the stuff they didn't want to eat under the table, and the doxies got quite used to it.
@@abbiecampfield8955 Depends on what human food you are eating. Some fruits and vegetables are good for the dog, and some aren't. For example, Grapes and raisins are poisonous for dogs. Any processed human food is also terrible for dogs. Raw beef, now that's good for them. Hamburger, not good. There's alot to learn when it comes to feeding.
Yes I know. When they heard the microwave my two weiners will get crazy and the sound of the plastic wrap of the cheese omg. They're like we're coming mommy
Check some of my videos. I gave them chicken breast. The one I rescued the chocolate lab with pitbull mix now it's my sister's baby she loves when she comes to my shop because Angel knows I will give them steamed chicken breast. She even answered Addition. 😆
