This song saved my life. Very depressed and had nowhere to turn but I listened to this and still do and but I realized that there were more people that felt like me.James evokes emotion. After crying and playing this the guitar solo just takes me away and I feel so much more purged of all the negative feelings. Thanks for the upload!

The opening lead solo is so plaintive, wistful and sad and the ending solo is pure soul! I guarantee dad, your daughter will never forget this song ever again, because of the memory of you playing it for her. One of the mighty Metallica's best for sure. In my opinion, Metallica are the Zeppelin of today.🤘🤘🤘

I still remember picking this album up the day it was released, taking it home and listening to it. It blew me away, especially this song. Kirk's solos on this song are so emotional. And almost 35 years later I still own that same vinyl copy! :D

Just saw them on Saturday. It was the best concert I’ve been to by a long shot.

She was disturbed by the lyrics, but this song was like Ritalin for me back in the day. The negative annotation helped me with my depression and saved me from myself..

As I recall they wrote this after all their gear had been stolen and they had been kicked out of their manager's house where they were living at the time. James Hetfield thought the band was going to break up and he really was terribly depressed at the time. I think a lot of that hopelessness comes through in the song.

This was one of the songs that helped me find my way out of the darkness and till this day It still brings me happiness, one of the greatest songs I could’ve come across so please cherish it. Metal rocks!!!

The vocalist/guitar player wrote this song after all his musical equipment was stolen. And was debating on continuing with music. A lot believe the song was written due to the death of Cliff their bassist. But Cliff is playing on the song he died during the tour of the next album.

If I could pick one song before I were to die it would be this song. Bought this album in 1984 and this song never ever gets old. Simply brilliant.

I listened to this album over and over and have always thought it was their best album back in mid 80's, when Heavy Metal ruled the world.

Babymetal-Road of resistance (live). This band has a very talented and young (around 16) female singer. In my opinion the band has a very unique sound that mixs many gernres of heavy metal with J-pop dancing performance

Great song choice and reaction; however, if it's supposed to be a true reaction, then perhaps Jay should save those preface comments for the review after. Telling Kay things like it's an amazing/powerful/sad song that he loves and used lyrics from in his yearbook is setting her up with major expectations and could also influence her a great deal and/or put pressure on her to react in a certain way knowing that the song is so revered by her dad. Not saying that happened, and this is not to say that she wouldn't have reacted similarly regardless... But it'd be nice to see what her reaction would've been with no prompting. And everything Jay said beforehand could still be said afterwards and be just as valid. Just my 2 cents.

As an "old" metal fan (I´m 36 yo, there´s more than half a life ago I started listening to metal) I can understand the pleasure we feel showing another what give us so many enjoyment and extremely strong feelings, and I guess as a father this is even more exciting. But I think if Jay really want to display and make his daughter to dive into the music would be better not to look at her constantly. Anyway, totally commendable idea, spread the word of metal among the new generations to try not to let this enormous source of pleasure disappear.

I don't comment much but I think before you do One with her, you guys should try Metallica - Seek And Destroy , and let her see the beginnings of Metallica with a song that has followed them through their entire time as a band ! ( Also a little FYI this song was written right after Metallica had most of their equipment stolen. As they were still a young band and had not really made it yet and they feared they wouldn't be able to get back on the road. )
