I am SO glad to see that you take your daughter out hiking!!! The BEST times spent with my dad were out in the woods hiking and backpacking throughout the USA and Europe. Those memories stay with you for a lifetime!

Ahh, really nice Rog to see father and daughter enjoying good times together, bears and coppers heads a bit worrying, is a copperhead a rattler, we only get adders which is a viper, here on the island. If you listen very very carefully you can hear them...one and one is two, two and two is four lol. Great vid Rog. Thanks buddy

Really enjoyed watching the video! I admire your daughter for not being scared of bears. I wish I could be more relaxed about them. I'm always so alert while on these kinds of trails :-) That snake really blended in. It was interesting to see it.
When I was on the Appalachian Trail in May, it was always nice to see families out hiking. You don't see enough of that. 3M bug lotion. Great stuff. I'll be starting at Davenport Gap in May heading north. I'm a hiker/ camper. I want to enjoy what God has given us and not run by it. Look forward to more of your hiking videos.
My oldest daughter is highly bug averse too, but with practice she has learned to put up with them. Enough so that she was able to complete a thru-hike of the AT in 2014 with us. Don't stop taking them outdoors!
+Roger Lamb Too funny. When your daughter is old enough to date you should consider filming the young men's reaction upon seeing you when you open the door to meet them. You are built like a linebacker! I'm scrawny. I will have to have a Glock in my waistband! :)

Cool Video Roger! Bears are pretty common around me. We just yell at them to bugger off and they usually do. That copperhead, on the other hand, no thank you. Good on you for making memories together!

Love seeing other girls in the woods. Abby - mix a few drops of citronella essential oil into your hair product or lotion. Whatever you are applying is attracting the bugs. The citronella oil has a lovely citrus smell that the bugs hate. Bears....not sure on that. lol But I know it's been to known to calm barking dogs. Good luck on your next hike!
This video was great! I have not done an overnight trip in the Smokies yet, but I want to soon. I did not know that copperheads live in the Smokies, but I will keep an eye out from now on!

The name Haole4Life is pronounced "howley". Actually, has multiple pronunciations but most popular one is howley, proper one is "ha-ow-ley". It's very interesting, it comes from the Hawaiian word haole which means foreigner or white person. There's a lot of history behind it, I'll probably do a video on it to explain it more! I get a lot of questions on it and didn't know myself until I moved here! :)

I second Scott's comment. And great video. I'm taking one of my daughters to the Smokies in July and can't wait. I like to see bears in the Smokies but I don't like them close to the campsites ...
What a great overnighter, good that your daughter loves the outdoors but with the presence of a bear nearby i would'nt have got a wink of sleep (i would be shitting myself), of fear of being attacked, thank god we dont have man eating predators back here in little old england...atb...jeff.
