My father was an angry man and was very physically abusive to me growing up. However, I fought back even when beaten to a pulp. Slowly, as I grew up and got stronger, I began to physically outmatch him until he gave up trying to get physical with me. For quite a while, there was peace in the family, but one day he took it upon himself to fight me again. I left him physically beaten up. He called the law and they took me away and I was sent to a boarding school. No further incidents after that.

@@robertx8020as opposed to passively allowing yourself to be beaten to a pulp always works for everyone? People like you are despicable and, frankly, virtue signalling like this and invalidating the act of physical self defence against violence supports that abuse. You are an enabler and thus also abusive. If you had an ounce of moral fibre and at least a single braincell and honest experience to justify commenting, instead of being an enabler of physical and mental abuse, you'd give alternatives to the response you dislike. Instead, to selfishly suit your own ego or moral views, you would invalidate and abuse a victim instead of empowering them in a way you believe in. It speaks volumes for your character that you do not do this..

One of my favorite sayings is "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. He fooled her once when she was sternly WARNED and he was caught RED HANDED RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER. Interesting how someone so BOOK SMART that she could be an ENGINEER could make such a STUPID decision. I was a small child when I saw Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan and it was maybe my earliest lesson in the fact that it is possible for a very INTELLIGENT person to make very STUPID life decisions based on their ego and irrational emotions. This story gives me goosebumps. As it's so simlar to my own childhood. I'm one of 13 siblings. My dad was a retired police dog handler. His dog was retired with him as they were both injured. So my dad began breeding German shepherds for near 30yrs. Having so many siblings. We grew up in my dad's 3 story 8 bedroom house with massive garden. I was the only child born with health issues. So I was treated worse than Cinderella. I had to clean the house on weekends. Cleaning the bathroom & ALL the house skirting boards & stairs with a toothbrush. Was send to fetch shopping on my own. Got run over doing so once when I was about 5yrs old. Was always left behind at the local hospital when my family went on holidays. Wether I was ill or NOT. Luckily the hospital always took me in & looked after me. I went to boarding school age 6. Where I learned my real name for the first time. It was also where I was shown love & understanding for the first time. I adored being there. I left age 13 & returned to my dad's house. My parents got divorced while I was at boarding school. It was a messy volatile divorce. So my siblings hated me as I wasn't there when it happened. So after only 2 weeks back to being the household servant. I ran away repeatedly. So social services (child protection agency) asked why I kept running away. I told them I hated my family & they hated me. So I was put in a children's home till I was 16. It was a very happy time at the children's home. Yet at 16 I was sent back to my dad's again. After a few days he told me " I don't like you or love you so get out of my house an don't come back." So I left with just the clothes I was wearing. I went on to get 2 doctorates by age 19. Married my hubby at 18. Had our first child at 20. Went on to have 2 more children. All by C-sections due to my health conditions. So I have an upside down cross from my belly button to my bikini line. As 2 were straight up due to being emergency. An the last was a bikini line C-section. I got my pilot's license age 17. Build my own property from the ground up after buying the land age 18. Went on to travel the globe due to my job. Flying myself most of the time in my Cessna' 340 & Cessna 172 Skyhawk. My beloved seaplane. I NEVER kept in touch with my siblings or parents. Until my dad was on his death bed. I visited him once while he was dying. Were I stood in silence for 2 minutes. Then walked away. I attended his funeral. Yet wasn't told where his ashes were scattered. I still have zero contact with any of my vile siblings. 2 of which are dead. As old friends informed me. Not that I care. My kids are all adults. My hubby & I have been married over 40yrs. We have 3 wonderful grandsons who I adore. I've also retired early due to ill health. Yet I'm content. Not bad for the runt of the family lol. Life is what YOU make of it. So strive to be the best version of yourself. Don't let the past hold you back. As we ALL have the will to succeed in life. So aim high. It's so worth it 😊

Forgiving and NOT forgetting are two of the greatest gifts a person can give themself. There is no point to holding on to resentment, it only harms you. And when there's no purpose to be served by reconciliation, it's best to make whatever peace you can with yourself, and get on with living.

As a parent having 2 grown boy and girl I always kept it balanced and always rewarded them for their good deeds even if their ideas were different they were both equally loved. As for your sister does she even know how to handle money at all??? Mabye you should teach her so she can know what the heck ? It seems you've been responsible in what you've done and when people have done wrong things to me I always remember that God always knows and I always pray for guidance down here and how to make things better cuz I know it's hard to trust people. 🤨That depends entirely on the trauma. And most people that go through abuse don't say stuff like this, because it doesn't psychologically humble/put the culprits in their place. Infact it just makes them happier (especially where NPD and Sociopathy is involved). Correct path, is to either move on if you can (which depends on the kind of trauma, and what was done to you, level included) or to find a way of humbling/holding them accountable, and then move on. _ This sounds more like a irritated comment from someone who is connected to a situation like this, and is also more specific to NPD style comments (given prior context, the apathetic and smug responce given). 🙄

I would say "how bad do you want money? A million dollars I can do what you did to me for 5 years when ever I want like you did to me... with a contract of course." I don't like my father either

It was not the father's money ,it was his grand fathers money the father lived on

Ok comment#3 from the original post made my stomach hurt. What kinda sick fuk thinks that bad grades in high school makes it ok to physically and mentally abuse your child? BTW if comment#3 was paying attention they would have heard that the father also got bad grades in high school, and didn't achieve any academic success until college. Sometimes i think people make comments on these post just to comment, because there is no way they thought that through. SMH

There is something about this story that doesn't sit right with me... Its like i can believe the things he says happened to him but i dont believe the context about him being slow... I feel like the op did some nasty sh1t and chose to leave those bits out of the story in order to make himself look totally innocent yet only ended up coming across as shifty

18:25, You tried to warn her and in the end she chose to Ignore you... Some times you cant stop a Train Wreck, you just have to give it your best effort. 25:27, I dont think this was a bad idea. He was couch Surfing and THIS is the time he chooses to say that "He should have abused you MORE". Talk about Stupidity. Your allowing him to live in your home Rent Free because of his Stupidity, and he Doubles Down. It was like he was begging to be HOMELESS.

The father in this story did NOT love "Aurora". Extreme favoritisim ultimately damages BOTH children in situations like this and in the long run it can do even more damage to the "favored" child. By abusing the OP so much and in front of his sister he created a toxic environment that in the long run damaged her too. Part of loving a child is making sure that they get a stable and safe and nurturing upbringing and he failed her in all of those areas by creating such a toxic home. His actions also deprived her of having a loving and healthy relationship with her brother. At the end of the day he did not love EITHER of his children. You cannot love someone CONDITIONALLY. If "Aurora's" grades had started to slip would he have disowned her too?

As always, the artistic, introvert types tend to be demeaned, ignored and treated as "lesser than". Even more so when you're academically bad(and usually that tends to be because you're neurodivergent and didn't know of it, or you knew but hey-you know how this works-schools can't "just adapt their teaching ways just because of some students").

Can't we just accept he was a stupid kid who could play the guitar? The only people who seem to care about measuring intelligence are the stupid people in society. Life is terribly simple, you either thrive or you work at McDonald's and complain about pay. An intelligent person recognizes their talents and finds a way to monetize it. Dumb people use words like neurodivergent to explain why the world needs to change to accommodate them.
