My favourite line from the album “I pressed ahead of your team with one finger curled” - Bam - To “press ahead” means to move forward despite opposition; Hov is beyond the competition - press “a head”, w/ his finger curled = “gun to your head” - hair-scheme - “press” is when someone uses a flat iron “against the head”, to straighten curly hair - A “finger curl” = a hair style also called “finger wave” re-popularized in 90’s by Missy - skips “leg day,” but (bench) “presses” & (bicep) “curls” Hov is an alien 😂😂
100% and his album with Curren$y and The Alchemist "Fetti". That album is close to perfection. His flow is immaculate on top of the elite Al production.
4:44 is my favorite album of all time, i’ve studied it’s meaning for a long time, it’s clearly one of the most mature piece of music ever released. This album as changed the way I see hip hop nowadays. I recommend people to watch the entire interview of Jay Z by the New York Times if you want to know more about his feelings and the meaning of the project.
When Jay Z said Beyonce was feeding the kids liquid gold, he was talking about breastmilk. It's literally worth gold for all the nutrients and beneficials in it for the babies.
Now y’all gotta react to Beyoncé’s lemonade album ( I can’t wait to see how pops reacts to angry Beyoncé😂) and then their joint album the carters-everything is love
4:44 is so important to me...i love this shit....just started the video so i'm excited to see how pops feels about family feud, marcy me, and story of oj
The money line in The Story of OJ is insane! The double entendres. DAMN! This is his best work imo since maybe The Black Album. Although the Watch The Throne was dope. But a lot of those beats haven't aged as well IMO. I dunno. He's still an insane lyricist. And without writing down any of it. Wtf
Before this album dropped and they released "The Story of OJ". I knew i had to listen to the album. The day it came out I listened to the album and to this day i go back and listen to it. How vulnerable he is in this album and how he rides each instrumental is amazing. Its still my favorite album from him and the production is superb. I rarely skip a track on here.
Regarding the "alpaca/I'll pack a" line, you gotta also remember he ain't just referencing the film but also remember he did the music for it. American Gangster. Solid album.
Love how you guys have built the camera chemistry over time. From not being able to get the timing on bridging the gap to seeming so natural. Keep it up my brothers
Been subscribed since the beginning and I can tell you that this was LONG awaited 😂😂😂😂Thank u guys as always for uploading ♥ American Gangster is my fav and I hope that's soon!
Does your pops know that Jay doesn’t write anything down? That he just forms the thoughts in his head, then lays the track in 15-20 mins, normally in 1 take? Probably fascinate him.
Your pops luvs UGK & OUTKAST.. if they both had a baby it would be BIG KRIT.. Don’t deprive him of one of the most southern intellectuals that has done it. Check out the original 2012 version of “4eva N a Day” mixtape.. or even “4eva is A Mighty Long Time” album
Fun fact Jay Z was sitting on the Bam beat for a while and No I.D. said Beyoncé came in the studio and told them that since Jay is playing around with beat letting it go to waste she’ll use it instead and that put the fire in his back to finish the song.
I knew when I saw his 40th comment the other day that you was gonna react to it soon. I was gonna comment on a slept on Jay-Z album...but idk if you wanna do that. That 1 with Beyonce. That shit is super underrated...and super 🔥 tbh. FR. Lmk
I still love this album, even though it wasn't well received by the general public. Even if I don't agree with all of Jay's philosophy about what's important, it was good to hear him focus on stuff like that more than the gangsta/drug stuff (even though that's still there). The beats are SUPER hip-hop in a way that might throw some people off. NoID went crazy with the sample chops. Also, liquid gold is not mac & cheese lol
This is one of those albums I never really understood the hate it got. But I've also always been told I'm alot more mature than most my age. He was talking some stuff.
I really want to hear you guys react to Maps by Billy Woods. It's my favorite album from last year and has some of the most solid and intelligent bars I've ever heard
Also the samples of this album (4:44) were all taken from a playlist that Jay put together and gave to No ID. Jay specifically wanted each of these songs to be sampled for reasons that add depth to each song
Hearing a Black dad reacting to this album is special, really cool how you've taken your dad through the journey of Jay-Z's discography Completely different note but would love a reaction to Barter 6 or Jeffery by Thug, lol
I was watching the Watch The Throne reaction the other day and it made me search to see if you guys did 4:44. From the WTT reaction it seemed like pops isn't the biggest fan of Jay so I wanna watch the other Jay reactions before I peep this.
Great album was definitely slept on should've got way more recognition in my opinion i always listen to this album every year was just listening to it couple weeks ago i felt like Jay really found that grass root hip-hop sound and we thank No Id and Guru for that hopefully they can push him to do another album that sounds like this
