When I saw JPEGMAFIA live a while ago he didn’t have a DJ, just him and his MacBook, he’d walk over to the computer to play the next song before going crazy and it was one of the best shows ever. Sweatiest man I’ve ever seen
the album was entirely made in a SP 404, which is really interesting because they both talked about how different it was for 90's producers who didn't had access to the amount of tools we have today with a DAW, so peggy took it as a challenge, and goddamn he killed it
What’s absolutely insane to me is that this album technically could have been made in the 90s. It sounds so futuristic and unique that it’s hard to imagine that Peggy used old tech to make it.
this album surprised me so much. I didn't think I'd like it at all, and within a week after it came out it became my most listened to album of the last year and that sample peggy used on the last track is one of my favorite moments in music, ever. it's fucking insane and so crazy
@@JJJackson777 Yea I love Injury but in my opinion self titled isn't that good. BTTIGTP is insane, floss is very good but they aren't the same energy and sample fliping abilities as Peggy does, but Parker does insane beats LMAO.
One of the best things that has come from Kevin's journey into hip-hop is that he now recognizes Lil Wayne's influence on rapping about pussy. The God.
I totally am the same about feeling hypnotized by experimental stuff like this and deathgrips, it kind of registers as white noise and I can sleep to it
kinda hurt to hear that garbage pail kids didn't leave that strong of an impression since it's one of my favorites on the album, but it does make sense. i only hope you guys continue to listen to it & that the track grows on y'all the way it did me
I love how much this album has grown on me, like after several listens in, I am able to see the true beauty and utter greatness of each song, even on the shortest track, Run The Jewels, where I am LOVING the nastiness of the saxophone or trumpet that's played, then the opening and closing tracks that originally I saw as the weakest parts, have felt and become more and more fitting when I listen to it, a perfect representation of a grower, not a show'er
Your dad touches on it and i have to fully agree, peggy has an incredible sense of creating a beautiful contradiction between the dense and the empty together working to create a wildly varying sonic range. You can tell he specifically designs elements in every track so that they nestle into eachother so organically but combined create totally foreign and unheard soundscapes.
Weird thing happened to me too. Listened to money store for the first time and it was a painful listen. 6 months later and I’m falling asleep to Hustle Bones in the car
12:35 Can confirm, these songs are AMAZING live, Danny and Peggy also do some of their own songs solo. Plus the show I went to had a live band with it, not sure if it's all shows though. Definitely worth seeing them live together
I fell in love with this album. I so love Danny Brown. And only got to know Jpegmafia on one of Danny's RU-vid shows recently. My god, 'Peggy' as Danny calls him, is a fecking genius with creating a whole new wave with this album. Cut it up, mash it up, involve two masters in the mix, riffing and flowing with it, a beautiful moment in time. Beyond current definitions. So pure, so weird, so new. Crazy good
btw guys if you didn't know the significance to the song title burfict and the sample choice, burfict was a player in the NFL who was regarded as one of the dirtiest players who injured multiple players, and the sample was one of the many NFL theme songs, its such a perfect title choice for a song on this album lol and the "you think yk me" is from the WWE wrestlers Edge theme song so finnnng hard
Great reaction. I can vouch for the hype of a live show, I saw Peggy in 2021 only a few days before he dropped his last album (LP!) and it was phenomenal. Just him and a laptop lmao. But he can do so much with just that. Highly recommend seeing him live if y’all get the chance!
If redveil interested you at all from his verse on Kingdom Hearts Key, I highly recommend you listen to Niagara by him some time soon, so glad you did this so soon
i truly feel like this album gets better with every listen. you should do the new model/actriz, super cool and heavy as hell, if ur dad likes the industrial sound he might be a fan
Immediate standout was Danny on orange juice Jones, biggest parts that have grown on me are the jpeg verse on jack Harlow combo meal and all of Fentanyl Tester. I've loved Jpeg since veteran and Danny since Old.. so crazy to see their evolution 🧬, combination 🧩 and continued growth as I get older w all these people I started listening to early in high school
This album rules, on first listen it's a lot like a Gorillaz album to me in so far as I wasn't immediately gripped by every individual track, however the more I get to listen to each of them the farther in love I fall with them as unique pieces.
These guys are the best duo in Hip hop since Run The Jewels. Which is also one of my favourite songs from the album my only gripe is I wish it was longer.
Peggy live is amazing. I saw him open for Turnstile, a phenomenal job. One of my favorite performances live and I think he did better than the opening act. Not to dog on Turnstile. I love them, wouldn’t have seen them twice if I didn’t! Id probably put him up with Kendrick and Keem!
I've become a fan of both of them thanks to this project. HUGE fan of this album. On repeat still. I got my girlfriend addicted to a few songs too even though she didn't like it at first. Now she asks to play them 😂. I will say one of my favorite tracks is "God Love You" because of the beat! Sounds like a leaked Kanye demo or something. Login Kanye LOL
Man this one surprised me when it hit my suggestions. Haven’t seen you guys pop up in a while but I was excited to see Peggy cross through your guys path
I love the album and the shout out to Run the Jewels. EL-P's record Cancer 4 Cure was how I discovered Danny Brown. Wait have you not done Run the Jewels with your dad yet?!?
Love you guys. All My Heros Are Cornballs is great too, it’s the most consistent imo, it feels more like an album than his other projects, and the production is mad.
idk why it took me so long to check this channel out, seen it recommended plenty of times, but wow your dad's reactions are awesome and he seems to genuinely care a lot about music
