Man this album is something else, it came out right when covid started and got me through some tough times. The title couldn’t have been more true. Great reaction boys.
You probably feel like you’ve heard those songs before since this album borrows heavily from Julian’s influences, especially the ‘80s. Bad Decisions references Dancing With Myself by Billy Idol and I Melt With You by Modern English, Brooklyn Bridge To Chorus references Bizarre Love Triangle by New Order, and there are others I’m sure I missed
If you already listened to their first two albums, I woul recommand listening to their third one, Firts impressions of earth, wich is arguably a bit too long but has really strong songs on it (probably their saddest album also)!
Loved this reaction video! The strokes are my favorite band of all time I know their discography like the back of my hand and The New Abnormal is probably my favourite of their albums so it had such immense fun re-experiencing it through you both and seeing how much you enjoyed it Would absolutely love it if you considered diving into Casablancas' other band The Voidz. Julian spent a lot of the 2010s exercising his creative muscles outside The Stroke's traditional sound resulting in some very strange but incredible music. Their first album Tyranny is my favourite it has a generally darker and grittier sound (and includes Human Sadness, one of the best songs Julian has ever created) but their second Virtue is much easier to digest and arguably more consistent quality over wider style of sounds. I think you'd find it very interesting to explore!
I don't think anyone mentioned this yet but this album was produced by Rick Ruben, who has also produced albums for red hot chili peppers, Mick Jagger, Kanye, Jay Z, Adele, and a bunch more
I am really into this album but new to the Strokes. First, I have heard their latest but was hoping for more of this sound… but it didn’t happen. Second, which other Strokes album, if there is one, that is closest to this masterpiece? Third, is there any other bands with s sound similar to this awesome album?
i would love it if yall checked out the backseat lovers - starting with their latest album or going from first to latest. I think you guys would find them fantastic
