How long did your third thermostat unit last, or is it still ok now? I'm having this exact issue now after just 5 months. I've contacted Google Nest help and they are willing to send a replacement unit out but its a 'refurbished' not brand new which I'm surprised at?
It lasted a few years. We had to buy a new furnace (a Trane) and a new wireless thermostat came with it, so we went with that one. The third Nest was working fine, though. Agree that it seems like you should be getting a brand new one.
Do you really need to replace the wire base when installing in the replacement Nest? I don’t want to mess with the wires or the screws that are drilled into drywall anchors.
@@daddoesvideos ok so this is the email i got - You'll see a temporary authorization for the full price of the new device on your account. You’ll be charged only if we don’t receive your old device and if we confirm the issue isn’t covered under warranty. Charging your credit card does not affect the express warranty or any statutory rights you may have under applicable law.
@@ronniemation Yup, I remember receiving that, too. As long as you send your old device in, you should be fine. They won’t charge your card assuming they confirm it’s a defect.
Right? All I want is for Google to fix the product. There’s no reason this keeps happening. It’s a basic part of tech these days. It’s ridiculous. Good for you for asking for a refund. I hear better things about the ecobee, for whatever that’s worth.
