that's something I've been thinking about a lot too! I've seen theories that Mum purposefully allowed herself to be intoxicated by food in order to make the act more believable. For me personally, I think either the corperation who are behind Dad perhaps are doing so to stop her from acting out or she does it because part of her really misses having a family, with a daughter which I think would be super impactful if true.

I feel that Dad is who his flashbacks say he is; An astronaut from the future who has through forces unknown been catapulted backwards to very near our time; He's being held in some kind of internal VR system by the corporation to try and get him to explain what he knows about the FTL drive ( Quantum based, clearly ), and Mom is the lead researcher on the project; A simulacrum of her is in the VR system and operates robotically when the actual Mom on the outside is not connected. Dad is trying to sort out what is real and what is not, hampered by the fact that he is from a period in the future where the understanding of the time period he is in is distorted at least in the mind of average people like himself - we all eat generic food, we b are obsessed with work, RU-vid, DIY and Minecraft, etc., - so he couldn't function completely wehn he first escaped, until he found assistance. Too bad the corporation cant get what they want anyway. Dad seems like a pilot rather than someone with any detailed knowledge of the FTL drive on a theoretical basis.

I know this is late but, I'm pretty sure the idea is that Dad comes from a future where humanity has begun to colonize other solar systems, and he lived on a Kepler 22b, which has a human colony on it. This is why people from his time know about Earth, and also explains how Dad was basically an interstellar truck driver.

I think you are spot on, the weirdness of the first few strings of vids really covers up the humor, and not only is the space trucker premise more blatantly funny, it is a less absurd allegory for fame and how streamers treat interactions with fans. Not to get super nerdy but the genre sort of evolved around the same time.

Dad actually read it and was like calling me stupid or something, and he went on this full rant. The rant was about like how stupid of a question that was and if I watched his videos, I wouldn’t be so foolish to ask that question. It was fucking hilarious and I will never forget it.
