@@MrYoungGun100 Okay but why though? Can you give an actual reason? Their eyes are purple in the book, so aside from your "tHeY LoOk sTuPiD" there was literally no reason to do it. Also an ironic thing to say considering how fucking stupid YOU look.
Also considering that the Witchers Geralt and Yen eyes are decent for a lower budget and profile show, then it was basically Dick and Dope being like “not interested or bothered”.
Wait wait wait did he say he did an entire series on why miri mhazdur a side character killed Dany's husband all the way back in the first season? Subscribed.
The Long Winter was supposed to happen 2 yrs ago.... Are you gonna wait, possibly 20yrs, for spring (If Arya doesnt Yeet the NK from outta nowhere, in TWOW 🤐) I genuinely hope G.R.R.Martin does not follow dumb and dumbers approach too the story 😓
@@MrGeorgeFlorcus You'd expect Rhaenyra and other dragon riders to be fireproof then. Also, if Aegon V was not worthy (Summerhall), then Dany certainly isn't.
@@MrGeorgeFlorcus No. Her words weren't literal. Targaryens are not immune to fire, they can handle heat better, like getting into hot baths--and they don't really gets flus or simple sicknesses, like all Valyrians, but they still burn from fire.
I found myself genuinely hating Viserys. That’s how good Lloyd is. Although, I also found myself hating everyone by the end of it, but that was more due to D&D being garbage.
I hated Viserys more in six episodes than I hated Joffrey in over four seasons. Then I stopped watching because Martin buggered off. I'm told this was a good decision.
Their hair was so silver in the early seasons wtf happened, it's like how the Lannisters hair turned black for some reason and dont give me that 'oh blonde hair loses its color in winter'
@@TetraDax Or just colour it on post-production. Anyway it seemed like since 7 season most of characters started to look much worse than they were before - at least Jon, Deyeneris, Jaime, Cercei and Sansa. It was like they tried to make Jaime and Jon less appealing (with weird hair and facial hair for Jaime, making him look like hobo, and weird armor for Jon, making him look fat), while making Deyeneris, Cercei and Sansa less feminine, which also made them visualy worse.
Muetzenfuehrer - I completely forgot about their original hair colours, until I rewatched everything before the last season and was shocked. Tyrion and Jamie especially. Although, could they have lost their golden-ness (not a real word I think) through stress? Like what happens to US presidents.
@@steel12fire8 It hasn't been mentioned in any interview I've watched, I've only seen the actors disparaging remarks on the hassle of bleaching their hair. I guess it could work as headcanon though Tyrrions hair doesn't really gray as much as turn brown.
The fact someone can edit this for a RU-vid video and a multi-million dollar show can't is just infuriating. I don't care if they were tight on budget in the first season, they could've at least edit this for the bluray release. Pisses me off how they went with their gritty realism in their FANTASY show as to not brake immersion, but still included the dumb zombie polar bears, the idiotic stone men, silly faceless swapping, the pointless three eyed raven etc.
@@MaimutaEvoluata As much as i bitch about it, it didn't take *that* long. And I'm one guy in his living room with a single mid-tier PC and completely self-taught Premiere skills. HBO could have done this orders of magnitude quicker than I did, and with better results. It's honestly infuriating that they didn't.
@@Glidus At least it offers you great comedic moments like this to casually point out their laziness. HBO better not pull that shiet in House of the Dragon, because I actually hope that show tries its damnedest to please fans and actually rectify a lot of the mistakes found in Game of Thrones.
They wasn’t lazy about it, if you listen to their early ads and interviews you’ll find out that they were trying to do a non-fantasy fantasy. A fantasy story for those who hate the genre. That is why they get rid of a lot of magic stuff in the show either which lead them to many dumbass plot changes
The software does not auto-detect it. I mean, it can, but it does it poorly. I did it by hand for the most part. It took 30 years. edit 11 months later: this was in response to a reply saying "the software just auto-detects it" weirdly downplaying my efforts
Love your work as always. But you got something wrong if I may: Daenerys doesn't stop the horde for no reason, she stops it because the slave in front of her is tired and not walking fast enough, and so gets wipped before her eyes. So she gives the order to stop the Khalasar. This is where her personnality & journey begins, not later, in my opinion.
Another detail that i noticed was that Danny and her brother had the same jealousy. The people loved danny and visarys was jealous. Danny came to westerous and she felt the same coldness.
@@whitealliance9540 True. However, I would argue there's a difference that cannot be ignored: Vyseris was envious but accomplished nothing. Daenerys on the other hand, was used to being worshipped because of her accomplishments, and suddenly was not. Unlike her brother, she didn't ask for blind recognition & never did.
@@Nost.Studio honestly thet missed on a big visual that was missing in the last season. If she wouldve killed varys at winterfell and carried his body onto the pyre and then herself, everyone wouldve seen that she doesnt burn, but the image itelf would be inverted from powerful to creepy... They missed opportunities to show a lot of evolution of emotion but everyone has their reasons for breaking their toys...
@@whitealliance9540 I have to give massive props to the makeup team on Season 8 because of the one scene on Dragonstone, after Rhaegal wins the stupidest dragon death award and Tyrion comes in to tell her that Varys just won the stupidest schemer award, when she’s meant to be all haggard and upset and not eating much. They put dark circles under her eyes and really went out of their way to highlight her cheekbones and make her face seem more gaunt, to the point where she looks A LOT like Harry Lloyd. Basically the makeup team did a better job of conveying “when put in the same situation as her brother, she reverts to the same tendencies as him” than the actual fucking writers.
At least in the books, we're in her perspective as a 13 year old girl and how even with her lack of agency and Viserys's abuse she was a person with her own thoughts but in the show all people see is an attractive young woman looking sadly into the distance and being naked on-screen a few times and that's not enough characterisation.
I mean it is very problematic the way that sexual assault was used a shock value item, especially when it wasn’t in the source material. From what I understand in the books, she thought about killing herself because she couldn’t deal with how Drogo wanted to have sex so much more than she did - like hours at a time and sometimes waking her up at night - and she felt stuck in that life. That is something that they could have represented visually and would have been fitting early in the marriage despite changes from the book - especially after the changes from the book. I think that people do see the problematic aspects and Emilia is a very talented actress whose face is extremely expressive. I do agree people can miss out on so much of her character if they focus on the fact she is naked more frequently than most of the other people in the cast. Your commentary makes me want to go check out the books and see her inner thoughts
This one of the funniest examples of editing humor that I have ever seen, and I mean in general not just got videos I will watch you stuff even not on asoiaf topic
Also I find it odd that in The Song (as you call it), Drogo was actually hurt pretty badly from the pillaging and and the fight, having a pretty nasty gash and an arrow lodged in his shoulder, if I recall correctly, so he actually HAD to get that shit tended to, whereas in the show it seems like a fairly superficial wound caused by Drogo's own stupid arrogance. It's a lot dumber in the show, is what I'm saying.
Duncan Van Ooyen You are actually wrong. In the song Drogo has a similar fight, but not with one of his bloodriders , but with Khal Ogo and as far as I can tell the wounds from the fights are pretty similar and also Drogos reaction to them. And I would actually prefer the Show version because in the Show Drogo gets into the fight with his bloodriders because Dany ordered that the raping has to stop, so Dany is somewhat responsible. In the Book its literally Drogo getting into the fight with a random Khal, Dany has nothing to do with it.
@@imaxix7779 Actually, you are wrong and Duncan is correct. From Daenerys VII, AGOT: "The arakh cut was wide but shallow; his left nipple was gone, and a flap of bloody flesh and skin dangled from his chest like a wet rag." and later... "Dany could see the muscles in his chest where the skin had been cut away. A trickle of blood ran from the arrow that pierced his arm." As well as the arrow in the arm, Drogo's f*ckin nipple is missing, I mean damn that's gotta sting! And muscles are visible within the wound. These are not minor injuries, though you are right that Drogo still shrugs it off with a Python-esque "is scratch". Also, although he killed Khal Ogo (and his son) in battle, it was a fight with one of Ogo's bloodriders which earnt him the scratch. I'm not usually so pernickety (OK I am sometimes), but when you go correcting other people who were actually right in the first place while spouting nonsense yourself, I kind of feel action needs to be taken ;)
Ser Tommard Long I am sorry. I didnt have the a copy of AGOT lying around and had to go of with what was written on the ASOIAF wiki... still my points stands that I prefer the more character based version of the show over the "random-events" of the book, although the cuts in the show definitely seem laughable compared to the hits Drogo takes in the Books.
@@imaxix7779 it's still character based he attack that Village to get money for Danny's War. Her desires are directly related to his death. That is the very start of the people the protagonist care about dying in war.
If your final goal is to get power then yes it is bad And if gaining more power is just a means for you to achieve something else then it might not be bad
@@ujwalpandey3968 some people want power just because they like it, as I stated wanting power and having it are not inherently bad , it's what you do with your power that matters, some people (like Danny) probably want power to help the powerless, just because you or I don't want power doesn't mean people with bad intentions will take a backseat , I think it's important for good people to get power and balance things out, and if they like the power, it's fine as long as they don't abuse it.
@@josephedwardsarena9487 That means they want to help, not have power. That is in itself very different. Wanting to be powerful stems from a different personality than wanting to help and therefore getting in the position where you can actually do that. If I want to change unfair laws and therfore I become president, I am not the same person as someone who wants to be president. I hope you get what I mean. It's quite harmful that many can't spot the power-hungry, thinking they just want to make things better - great-er. They might just tell you that so they can achieve their ultimate goal, which is power so they are the ones dictating what they can or can't do. And GoT is all about questioning character motivations and knowledge. Core rule is: what people are certain is true never is and all people kinda suck, at least a little. Daenerys was a narcisst. She helped for the glorification and admiration of her people, her ultimate goal was always the throne. She saw it as her destiny to sit on that thing. And when people think they are entitled ("destined") to rule over others, it means they're not very sane to begin with. Neither are the other characters. A Queen Cersei doesn't make a Queen Daenerys any less of an entitled bitch, even if people want Dany to kill her because they like her even less.
My boy Glidus reviewing my girl Daenerys' story. Now I am not sad during quarantined. Bro, you even went through the trouble to edit in her and Viserys' TRUE Targaryen features! Bro, I salute you! That must have taken forever!
Glad to see I'm not the only one who can appreciate Viserys. Had he been left alive he probably would've been more terrible than Joffrey given how insane he is not to mention his sense of entitlement and calling himself a dragon. Probably would've been the mad King 2.0 had he been given the chance.
Yeah, but I actually kinda pity him. He went from a rich prince to a homeless beggar, his whole family murdered and him and his sister being hunted down by assassins. He's an awful person but it's not difficult to see how he came to that.
Also, in marrying off Dany to Drogo, he has given up the last bargaining chip he had left. And while he is currently a terrible person, he did expect to marry Dany in the Targaryen tradition, and loves her in some twisted way. He has nothing left, and is realizing Drogo is never going to reciprocate their bargain. He has been completely driven to th he edge, which is what Varys and Illyrio wanted, but because the Mummer's Dragon plotline does not exist in the show, none of it makes sense.
I had my first ever crush on Harry Lloyd when he was will scarlett in BBC's Robin Hood. Not that this information is interesting or helpful to anyone, but he was also good as an axe wielding young outlaw with about 1 line per episode on a good day
Bethan Holly I was the exact same ahaha, I was 7 years old and absolutely besotted with Will Scarlett. I guess I was into the strong and silent type lol
Bethan Holly wow did not realize was Lloyd! Loved that show but my crush was on Armitage as Guy. All that yummy leather! If I’d been Marian I’d have been like Robin Who?
The best reason I can think of for them to not give Dany purple eyes was the discomfort that contact lenses might cause Emilia Clarke. Granted, prioritizing the comfort of a actress didn't really factor into all those nude scenes, did it?
The first few episodes of him and the sand snakes weren't actually bad. We never saw his motives in the beginning but then we realized he had none. The sand snakes were also pretty true to their characters seasons 6-7 and Eli taking over the role as Arraine but then they just became annoying, bitchy, and very unlikeable with trash dialogue.
@@ethanragbir8311 Yeah, bad dialogue ruined their character. Remember when GOT writing was actually good and people liked or admired bad guys like Tywin or Cersei.
Rurik Rorikkson I would take the yurt.because if you have a horse already you can’t sell it what you going to trade it with another horse. Or just ask for a bag of gold
Damn when the eyes changed color it was like taking my shoes off at home after walking all day. Thats SO much better and gives a whole new feeling to the scenes. WHY haven't they made it that way is beyond me... Also the video is hilarious. Instantly subscribed
Ah, remembering when the show was still great. It is a pain, sure. But a sweet one. Viserys is one of the few characters that is a lot better in the show than in the book imo. The actor was amazing.
Thinking about Dany's handmaids. So Irri and Jiqui are supposedly ethnic dothraki, yet they have very different skin tones and are slaves to Illyrio at the start. So I just wonder how were they enslaved? Do dothraki enslave their own? Or do slaves they take from others and who grow up as dothraki slaves from childhood learn dothraki as their primary language?
That's another thing the show did that always bothered me. When it comes to any races of people that aren't Westerosi (aka, white), they kind of just threw any and every type of brown person together without caring about whether or not they looked like part of the same ethnicity. So yeah, in the books Irri and Jhiqui are both Dothraki (and I think even sisters???), but in the show you can't tell at all. It extends to Doreah too, who in the books is specifically a foreign white girl from Lys, but in the show looks just as vaguely Dothraki as the rest of them do.
The heart eating is really great. I don't remember if the show explains that if she threw up at any point while eating the horse heart it would mean her and her baby's lives, it takes a lot of strength from Dany either way.
As I recall it wasn't that they would die it's that her being able to eat the entire heart is a good omen (and presumably a bad omen if she failed to eat it) for the fate of her childbirth.
@Thyme and Oregano Yes really. I don't see why you think that contradicts what I said. Dany brings that training up in the context of thinking about how high the stakes are. The reason she practiced was because she could not fail or they'd see it as an ill omen. Dany specifically thinks about how she "forced herself" to eat the horse heart, and that "the taste threatened to gag her".
Who can forget Viserys, the man that wanted to replace feudalism with proto capitalism based on slavery. Sounds like a man who works for the people, yep clearly I can see why Varys supported him.
I just realized dany walked into the fire wearing her wedding dress. Its a small detail but it is sweet and sentimental, especially coming from someone who (in the show) doesn't show much sentimentality. It feels like she is willing to die with drogo the way they came together. And it feels important that that dress is what is destroyed
Boy I picked the wrong moment to gulp down my cup of tea, literally just spat it everywhere when you cut to Dany dubbed with Lisa Simpson saying "I am the Lizard Queen!"

"Yes, it's fucked and I don't really like talking about it but it's.. important" Bravo, sir. Top Man. Your whole perspective on how they handled Dany's nuptial night on the show is just spot on, compassionate and intelligent and top Bloke energy (Man can't be the only metaphysical reference - that's racist)
Love Dany's violet eyes, I wish Emilia didn't have such a bad reaction to the contact lenses so we could see Daenerys on screen as we visualise her when reading the books. Great job.
What I noticed when you said the part about how it would not be that different if Viserys invaded Westeros, I thought about the way Dany looks every time someone shows love, friendship or loyalty to Jon or the Starks. She reacts the same as Visarys did in the horse heart eating scene and even says "I have no love here"
Weasley Love I thought that was the most believable thing of Dany’s whole turn, the expressions and things she said being so similar to Viserys. And in the throne room, before Jon kills her, she smiles just like Viserys did right before Drogo killed him, and while I wish Mad Queen Dany wasn’t rushed out in a few episodes, I thought the growing similarities between her and Viserys were really well done

Thanks for calling her Dany (also the eyes are amazing!) when I talk to people who have only seen the show they have to take a sec to realise who I'm talking about.
but in the books poor Drogo had an arrow going through his armpit and arm, so I guess he would have died of an infection anyway, or if Danny had been patient to wait for the eunuch healers
