I just don't know what to say. Daft Punk had ended their career. It is UNMEASURABLE how these guys had shaped my life forever. They were the reason why my love for music grew into a huge and colossal being that it is today. Without the grooves of their earlier albums such as Homework and Discovery, the infectious hooks of Human After All, and the insatiable funk of Random Access Memories, I COULD NOT IMAGINE what would I be today. They were my refuge back when I was a kid. I had invested thousands upon thousands of hours of my childhood just putting on my earphones and listening to their music. The troubles of life seemingly faded away as I jammed on their music. Thank you, Thomas Bangalter & Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo, for giving me the gift of music. I will forever cherish your influence on my life forever. Thank you, Daft Punk.
I have a pain in my heart after having placed a hope that in 2021 they would return. I clicked on the notification so fast, thinking it was going to start where it left off... I don't want to believe it, even though I know it's true...
This is from 1997 y'all. And it still goes harder than most shit made today. DJ's in my town are STILL playing Da Funk 20 years after and rightfully so!!!
@@asileitorgamer5598 that's surely the reason why it stops in the Alive/Can You Feel It transition. No idea why Musique and Short Circuit haven't been added though
“Alive 2007” is more impressive technologically and as a mashup, but this has a lot more going on in terms of actual live performance. They’re putting in a lot of work by constantly changing the beat and percussion, and introducing different effects, so that it never feels repetitive. This is why a lot of people consider “Alive 1997” to be superior. I wish they’d return to doing some all-analogue sets again just for old times sake, because that’s what they excel at best. The older technology allows them to be more active with mixing, and none of their older shows sound the same. Never heard any DJ’s put in more work into a live set than these guys.
That repetition and *high-energy* is what put the "punk" in Daft Punk. Back when they were considered probably electro-breakbeat or something. They came out with Homework (for most people I knew) which was more polished then I dunno if they released another whole album? Anyways, then did this rowdy, peak-experience inducing 'ecstatic' throwback. :#
@@rennyr9074 Nah, man. It's important to point these things out. A lot of people have forgotten just how powerful good technofunk can be. This... this is the prime example of beat done right! They just don't make 'em like they used to. :'(
you should’ve felt the pain finding out that the Alive 2017 announcement was fake lmao. Unfortunately I like many other fans are gonna have to give up on what could’ve been even better than Alive 2007.
@@playercore7444 Eh, I feel like they can't be compared really. Homework is heavy house tracks looping for a few minutes in each song, while RAM is a callback to the age of disco.
i feel bad i need to pay my respects again, i already wrote this but it's never gonna be the same without them i'm still tearing up... they introduced me to electronic music and made my LOVE for music that i have now, I remember in 2012-2013 when I was just 6-7 years old and my sister showed me their songs for the first time, i literally fell in love, I can't even say how much their music means to me, so many memories... I can't believe it and i wasn't ready for this it really came out of nowhere, I can't even imagine what today's music would sound like without these legends, they changed so many things in the game... imma go listen to within and instant crush and cry all night once again 😭 thank you. I guess the only thing i can be happy about is the fact that they ended this duo on good terms and they left us with all these good songs, their music will live on 🥺❤ Merci.
The first time i heard their music was in 2010 and i was also 6-7 years old when i got my first pc. The first thing i looked up was "electronic music" cause both of my brothers were listening to all kinds of electronic music and i always enjoyed that. now i have to say goodbye to these guys ;~;
I love daft punk the first time I hear music from daft punk was in 2007 in that time I was a 7 years and I love so much get lucky but my favorite song is robot rock and one more time and now I am crying and whit a heart broken here in a song that never can happens thanks for read this
It's amazing how well this has aged...it holds up so well nowadays. This could absolutely fit in with modern sets I've listened to and wouldn't feel dated by comparison. Daft Punk truly is the sound of the future, LOL

I mean they did eventually return for Alive 2007 🤷♂️ their career spanned long enough that they had their moments of return, they even had an 8 year break between Human After All and Random Access Memories I do wish they stayed around til 2023, the OCD within me is not a fan of 1993 - 2021
I’ve learned a lot since then. Yep, they used the Linn drum machine on Musique plus in a lot of their early live performances, and yes, Da Funk sampled Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll by Vaughan Mason & Crew.
@@fuccboihermit13 - It's a hispanic music genre. I'm assuming OP was a native spanish-speaker. ''La Mona Jiménez'' is a famous example from my country, Argentina, although I'll warn you, it's not precisely excellent music.
I hope you guys know how many lives you’ve changed..including mine..I’m literally crying right now about his whole but I understand. Rest up boys you definitely deserve every single second

- Buehmann I think we should make a symbol for the staticky (can’t get over how that’s pronounced) noise before the *pew* . A good idea would be an a with a slash through it like an ø.
I've narrowed it down to two reasons why their live shows are called 'Alive': 1. 'Alive', the song on 'Homework', is in fact a remix of the first ever song they recorded as a duo, 'The New Wave'. 2. 'Alive' is quite similar to 'live'. :P
Perhaps sense they produce new material at such a slow pace compared to other artists, only 4 studio albums in what like 20 years... some artists do that in a year or two, they are simply reminding us that they are still alive.
It's funny Chris coz u think the ppl always working would be on point with everything they do. But Nup lmao. To much garbage given out these days floods the market.
Toxicpot76 Crap is easy to turn out At a fast pace. Polished turds take a littlelonger. However, greatness... That can take years to perfect and polish before It is ready.
Ha! They were all using these crazy sounds that were new to us. ('Chico's Groove Remix 2' shoutout, though) Crystal Method 'ripped' CBs sound as well. First Chemical Brother's album was must have , back in the day though, right? Ha ha
01:05 until 01:40 I love that part, the music kind of builds up with the background noise of a busy city, you're kind of stepping into the world of a late 90's modern city. When that part changes to another, the transition is legendary!
actually, its very normal to DJs have unreleased tracks. As far as i know, "Call on me" was originally by Thomas Bangalter and DJ Falcon but they never released as an official track, then Eric Prydz just did a version of it and release.
@@rokxfull Call on Me has a weird history. Eric Prydz was actually copying a different rip off of hte Bangalter/Falcon track. I think it was by somebody called retarded phunk and THAT version is the one that's on youtube and listed as Bangalter/Falcon
Daft Punk never dies, fades or is is able to be replaced. I would bet that a few years from now we are going to be mind blown with something totally new but 100% Daft. Fingers crossed across my Cybertronian heart.
Man, I wish I were old enough to attend concerts during this era of burgeoning electronic shows, as opposed to the stiff, over-produced nonsense that we're left with now. I'm sure shows like this still happen, but they're not easy to find in my corner of the world.
+Pikminiman I wish I were old enough too (or just born for some really early shows). I'd love to travel in time to some older The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, etc. concerts. I know I can still see them on stage, but then the "I don't have time"/"I live too far away" things kick in.
oldgamers101 You should. One of the best concerts I ever attended in my life was Prodigy's. It's an overwhelming experience. If you have the chance to go, don't think twice!
I found and listened to this concert recording more than 10 years ago and it is still one of the most intense and profound preformances I have ever heard.
It would be sick if they did what they could and salvaged all of thomas parts, showed all of the weld on the helmet and all of the reconstruction, then came back and another UNBELEIVABLE album.
RIP to legends. I wish I got to see them live once. All I can do now is hope for a random comeback one day which isn't entirely unheard of, but I have to be realistic how this is it.
i wish they'd release the Mayan Theater versions of the songs, esp. daftendirekt and around the world (which is not listed in this official audio) only got to hear part of (like 1 or 2 minutes) the around the world mix when I found out about the stream and it seemed to be near the end...and tbh...it sounded so damn good..then the internet cut off for me (still a tad bit stormy here) and I couldn't watch / listen to the rest of it :') you can imagine my dissapointment when I later checked back on their twitch channel to find out that they didn't keep a vod of it. (I mean...makes sense, but what about fans who either slept or were at work/school >:? ) I hope they either stream it again or eventually upload it to this channel. (Even if it's 1 year or 5 from now... I just wanna have those tunes, man 🥲) I mean....they have it recorded.. and it's been decades since that concert happened Plus I'm sure there are more 20-something year olds like me who grew up listening to daft punk and never got to go to a daft punk concert in the 90's because they weren't born yet (my case) or too young 😂
The punks used both a TR-808 and a TR-909, which are both considered to be some of the best drum machines on earth. The 808 had an earthshattering kick and snare and the 909 was the source of the "house hi-hats" that are in almost every house track.
@@gelatinous6915 I love daft punk and the Hi-hat's bearable here but the reason I can't get into house music is that goddamn hi-hat. Ig a lot of people love so good on them but to me it just sounds so shitty and tinny. Idk. The Punks do a good job and Skinny Puppy's Remission ep sounds good too but for the most part when it's so pronounced in the mix I just have to turn it off. Oh well
7 is NOT RETRO/GRADE - Pulsar. That song wasn't released until 2010, and is clearly a remake of Daft Punk's original track. That track has no known official title, however it was performed at at least two other gigs I'm aware of - the 1996 Even Further festival, and at whatever concert it is that's briefly featured on the second disc of the "D.A.F.T." DVD.
Oh man, I may never be able to attend something this legendary, but when I close my eyes and just listen to those sweet sweet beats with that crowd roaring I can feel it
I remember when I was a kid, I saw an old lady dancing with her broom in front of a gas station by and facing a busy street intersection. At 26:00 it makes me want to be like that deranged dancing broom grandma!

+Leroy Temme no short circuit was made back in alive 1997 in the whole just check out the rex club alive 1997. this alive 1997 was cut and only had a little bit of short circuit and its not full.
Toujours humain, toujours robot. Que Dieu vous bénisse tous.
Two of the most prolific musicians of techno!!! Thank You for sharing part of spirit by sharing your talent!!! Thank You for coming to Lollapalooza in Chicago, my hometown in ‘07!! May your musical journey continue in whichever direction you’re guided to! Daft Punk forever!!💯🔥🔥🔥🔥💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Me encanta como en esta era cambiaban la percusión a cada rato, así no se siente repetitivo, eran unas bestias con las cajas de ritmos, creo que Thomas era quien tenia los 909s
