Can't wait to hear your reaction to Mitch specifically in "Bohemian Rhapsody" (the guy with the high voice) -- all of them are amazing, but Mitch in particular just takes it to another LEVEL!
Try their other two Grammy award winners , Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy , Jolene with Dolly Parton Their covers of Havana, Shallow and Gold , Imagine and Bohemian Rhapsody are brilliant
Seconding all of these suggestions! Imagine 'gon make you cry! Adding my other favorite, Little Drummer Boy. The way they build singer upon singer adding each part (they do this in Cheerleader and Say Something, too) so you can hear the way they intertwine is musical ecstasy!
I second the fact that your sister in a genius. Welcome to over 160 songs and videos from Pentatonix. Literally just print off thier discography and throw a dart but do that after Bohemian Rapsody and Amazing Grace.
This was their first Grammy win out of 3. All from the earlier years. Daft Punk was filmed in the apartment of the bass Avi (pronounced Ah-vee) Kaplan and the beat boxer Kevin Olusola. Each of them is stellar and could make it individually (they do have solo work) but together they blow your mind. As you react to their other covers and originals you will witness what the Pentaholics refer to as the wall of sound. Their cover of Imagine is a good one for that and you've reacted to Hallelujah. The wall of sound is a spiritual experience. Imagine and Bohemian Rhapsody would be natural next steps. Sisters rock. Your sister loves you and she is steering you in the best direction. Nothing better than watching someone experience this amazing group of artists for the first time. Welcome to the fold. ;)
if you're ever worried about feeling late to the Pentatonix party... just remember that there are people in this world who have never heard 'Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody' and I don't just mean kids, i mean full grown adults who live under rocks
You asked for advice about making this channel better? Just keep doing what you're doing! Genuine reactions are the fast ticket to getting subscribers, and Pentatonix reactions will absolutely make your channel blow up! I subbed after seeing your Hallelujah reaction because watching people discover this amazing group and following their journey is my (and other Pentaholics) obsession lol! Mitch is my favourite too, though some songs make me change my mind because they are all amazing and super talented. Definitely find time for his solo of 'Your Power'. He arranged, produced and performed the backing for it, as well as slayed the vocal. It's stunning. You could pick and PTX song and you won't go wrong, and their covers and originals are both equally fire. Avi Kaplan left the group in 2017 and was replaced by Matt Sallee, who is just as amazing as Avi, but in a different way. A good introduction to him is in Sound of Silence. Also, you picked a good time of year to discover them. Their Christmas songs will make you cry/smile/ dance like you wouldn't imagine. Welcome to PTX, and sorry for the essay!😆
@@SilverFlame819 If you listen closely right at the beginning when Avi is doing his solo, his first low note, he blows the speakers, that's why the rest of the song isn't the best, they are playing with busted speakers. IT is great when you realize what it took to blow those commercial concert speakers.
If your sister hasn’t provided you an extensive list…..we’re all here to help!!!! All of their medleys are great - 90’s dance medley is the most recent, I think & it’s great! Some more musts: Bohemian Rhapsody Imagine Sound of Silence Can You Feel The Love Tonight Amazing Grace My personal favorite for today on repeat is Royals (Lorde cover) Then there is their originals. Coffee In Bed Love Me When I Don’t Anchor (my personal fav) But the list goes on and on….
Your sister has great taste! Your channel was recommended to me by RU-vid because I'm a huge fan of Dimash. Imagine my delight in finding that you react to PTX too!
Recorded in a closet, video filmed in a kitchen. That cost $400, obviously more was spent in post production! Their arrangements for filming in a studio fell through at the last minute! You should watch Imagine, Sound of silence, Amazing grace & Can't hold us...just to name a few. Though, you literally couldn't go wrong with any video, tbh.
@@RambossTheTerrible So, this is a oft misused phrase (misunderstood from Scott's Grammy comments). Yes, it was $400 for the shooting budget (ring lights, makeup, etc.) But it was produced/edited in a studio who was paid, the film crew was paid, etc. It WAS recorded (voices) in a closet and filmed in the kitchen of one the member's apartments.
Have to say I'm a huge fan of your sister! Welcome to PTX💜 The song catalog is composed of so many genres, experimentation, covers and originals. Their medleys of a variety of music icons are amazing. Imagine, Sound of Silence, Havana, Sing, Run to You, Amazing Grace (my chains are gone), Mad World, but the one that will melt your brain just a little is Bohemian Rhapsody. Guaranteed!
The PTX medley includes the following Daftpunk songs: Technologic, One More Time, Get Lucky, Digital Love, Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, Television Rules the Nation, and Around the World. No one has introduced you to the group, I see: Mitch Grassi (first singer on-screen, wears the big hat in Hallelujah): tenor/countertenor; Scott Hoying (second onscreen, white hair in this one): baritone (but with an amazing range down into the bass and well up into the tenor); Avi Kaplan (third onscreen, beard/cornrows in this one): bass beats/bass vocals); Kirstin Maldonado (only woman in group): mezzo-soprano, later developed a great alto range; Kevin Olusola (shades in this): beatboxing plus cello and tenor vocals. Avi departed the group in 2017 and was replaced a couple of months later by Matt Sallee.
Love Again shows Kevin’s insane beatboxing. In Radioactive, Kevin does cello-boxing which is how Scott found him. Several years I pulled into the parking lot at the new school where I was teaching. I was almost late for my first meeting because the band was practicing this for their half time show.
I love how much you loved this! The first time I heard it I had the same grin on my face and had to remind myself to breathe! Anyone who loves PTX as much as you deserves a sub! I’m in!!
The more Pentatonix you play, the more Pentaholics will bombard your channel with suggestions. I promise we will like and subscribe to you(another Pentaholic in the making). We all love recruiting new Pentaholics.
Your sister is a Pentaholic and there is no cure. Copyright issues may crop up when you least expect it so you may have to apply video filters. Recommend their original song Love Again.
Your sister called…she wants to know when you’re going to get around to reacting to Bohemian Rhapsody. And yeah,…you qualify as a true blue Pentaholic. Keep it going! 😍
Dude, I am not even joking, she literally sent me a text today with a list of songs to check out, Bohemian Rhapsody being on the list and about 3 others.
Never saw anyone who could stay still watching PTX do Daft Punk. Is infectious. Yes they are all fantastic vocalists, but Mitch's voice is 'stop you in your tracks' unique. Not diverting from PTX but you MUST also do Mitch's solo cover of "Your Power". Is stunningly beautiful.
If Mitch is the tenor, I will 100% do it. Nothing against the other 4, but he is, hands down, my favorite of the group thus far. Admittedly, I only have heard a few songs, but he blows me away every time.
Great reaction Bro. If you have any blocking issues, because it will happen with PTX, you can put text or a filter over the original video and that usually does the trick so you can put your reactions up. Much love and keep on keepin on J. Also if you want the superhero origin story of PTX go back and react to all of their "Sing Off" performances 1-12. They are all live performances and some really amazing music. Everyone on the show knew they would win in fact the other competitors give them standing ovations. Imagine the other team giving you a standing ovation. Also, I have to say part of the magic is Scott, Mitch and Kirstie singing together for so long. Like any amazing team, when you play together long enough you understand each others' strengths and weaknesses. I am not sure PTX has any weaknesses but you get my point. Much love and keep on keepin on J.
@@RambossTheTerrible I have to be honest I thought the black and white filter you used on Hallelujah was freaking GENIUS. It's frustrating to have to put filters up but I like that one much better than a blur or other obscuring filters!
They won their first Grammy for this medley. Others that will blow you away: --Their cover of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" --Their cover of Simon and Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence" --Their cover of John Lennon's "Imagine" --Their cover of Tears for Fears "Mad World" --Their medley of "90s Dance Hits" I could go on and on. There are so, so many more, including many brilliant original songs, and everything they do is splendid. Their talent is off the charts. FYI, there has been one member change. A few years back, that phenomenal bass, Avi, amicably left the group for personal reasons. (He has since done a lot of solo work and other collaborations that you might want to check out at some point.) Pentaholics were heartbroken to see him go, but they quickly replaced him with another phenomenal bass, Matt. People taking in the group's videos for the first time often think there have been multiple member changes because two of the group's original members--Mitch the amazing high tenor and Kirsten the only woman in the group--change their looks and and fashion styles constantly, which often confuses viewers. This will be a fun journey to take with you as you go down this rabbit hole.
I'm here for more PTX. There is a lot to choose from. Gold, New Rules & Are you that somebody, Mad world, Somebody that I used to know, Amazing grace, Can't hold us, their evolution medleys... originals like Sing, Coffee in bed, Be my eyes... their Christmas albums...
Keep ptx reactions coming and watch your channel grow. There are soooo many Pentaholics out there and we love to watch people discover them even if it is late in the game. You have ten years to catch up on! Great reaction.
Love that you’re finding them now! Never too late to discover and fall in love with Pentatonix. Bohemian Rhapsody will definitely blow your mind! So many to choose from. Their original song “Love Again” is in a similar style to this one so you’ll undoubtedly love that if you love this (it’s one of my personal faves!). Tell your sister that the Pentaholics are glad she made you react to them :-D
I wish you success and joy with your new reaction channel. There is just so much talent in the world that it is impossible to give recognition to everyone, but you could do a lot worse than following PTX. Of all the a cappella groups they have shown the greatest range in the kinds of music they do and very often leave one amazed with their ability to improve on the songs they cover. I haven't found a single song of theirs, covers or originals, that I wouldn't recommend.
Hey, new subbie here. So glad your sister bullied you into watching PTX! I would like to request your reaction to their cover of Clean Bandit’s song Rather Be. The vocals are perfect and the video gives you a look at their love of singing and each other, plus their general craziness. Thanks!
You want to hear an original of theirs that has the same EDM feeling? Check out their first original "Love Again ". Kevin does an epic bass drop that'll make you really question if they used electronic music. Mitch took lead and is a beast on this song with his high notes. And they have a Steampunk space aliens theme going on with their creative look. To hear each of them sing in their bag, I suggest "Mary did you know ". Kevin sings in there too. A rabbit hole to later follow...jumping from one group to another talented creator is Todrick Hall. He had them in one of his creative music projects as his featured guests and they all did amazing. Wizard of Ahhhs! Todrick is kind of obsessed with The Wizard of Oz and Disney. Check him out too: LOW, WIZARD OF AHHHS!, CINDERONCE, GROWN WOMAN, CELL BLOCK TANGO, 4 BEYONCE, and the rabbit hole goes and goes and goes deeper between the two. Lol Great reaction. Welcome to the Pentaholics.😁
Since you are loving them so much, and you are into instruments, the beat boxer, Kevin has his own channel also. He plays cello amazingly, and actually studied music at Yale. May I suggest you react to Kevin Olusola - Down (Marian Hill Cover). You will NOT be disappointed. :)
This was their 1st Grammy winner. They made this video at one of their houses, in the kitchen and in a closet. The entire production budget was about $400! AMAZING!
You should react to the live version of hallelujah that they did for their christmas special. Pentatonix live is a different experience, they’re so amazing.
Just found you, enjoyed it and looking forward for more!!! For Pentatonix I would highly recommend "Mary did you know?", "Sound of Silence" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" - all absolutely great and unique covers. For other bands, if you dont know them, I recommend reacting to Tool. I would start out with their song "The Pot" to get a feel! PS: I was feeling froggy!
They NEVER sound bad. Subscribed to join your journey. This was one of their earliest ones shot in Avi's (bearded bass) and beatboxer Kevin's apt. Won them first Grammy for arrangement.
Okay, okay!! You got me! I wasn't too sure about you before, but this reaction has me believing that you really are a fan of this group! Keep 'em coming!! Liked and Subbed!! :)
Pentaholics (me included) are insanely loyal to PTX. Are you sure your sister is not the true 'Terrible'? LOL She does have one thing right, PTX is a top group to review. But you can certainly spread your videos out and enjoy various other groups. Your base will explode.
I feel that the biggest contributing factor to their success, (beside their talent) of course, is that they all believe that there is no room for ego! They all get their opportunity to shine in the lead and they all support the lead as they sing! It just makes them all better, that is their true strength!
I heard that they did this video in Avi's closet and then produced it on his home computer. I may have some of the details wrong, but you get the jist of this video. THEN.....it won a Grammy!! How cool is that??
The guy with the high clear voice is Mitch Grassi....he and all the other are incredible. This was made in 2013. Imagine what they've done since then!!!
Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole! It's definitely a commitment; I hope you're ready! Covers (or Betters), originals, Christmas. And then there's Superfruit, Avi's solo work, Kevin's solo work, and Mitch now has solo work. It's a lot, but it's an amazing journey! Don't forget to check out their Sing Off performances!
Please do their original Love Again, Coffee in Bed, Run to You, Be My Eyes. Their most recent original album The Lucky Ones Deluxe is mind blowing... Petals and Anchor Since you love Mitch's voice he recently released EP as Messer the songs are beautiful. My favorites are Rose's and Angels Pray.
Another great reaction! Keep up the great work! You should check out Sound of Silence because it’s amazing but also a great introduction to the new bassist Matt! You just can’t go wrong with whatever you decide to react to of theirs next!
Absolutely loved your commentary. 💕 I love the way you talk about your sister. It sounds like you have a great relationship and you really need to listen to her. My personal favorite member is Mitch and I love his vocal range but most of all I love his lower register. You really need to react to BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY and SOUND OF SILENCE. Keep the PTX songs coming.
Glad that you enjoyed Pentatonix so far. They have a HUGE catalog of recordings. Mostly covers, a few original works, and quite a few mash-ups like this one. I would highly recommend "90's Dance Medley" and "Amazing Grace".
As one of the many Pentaholics around the world I welcome you. Your sub list will grow by association with the group and your other content for those into it. Pentatonics make you feel good. That has mass appeal.
This new reaction industry is rife with people who have no idea what they are doing. You impressed me Ramboss with the quality of your video and your heartfelt reaction. Good job.
Welcome to the rabbit hole, friend. You’ve only just begun to understand their genius. Not only are there no instruments, but there’s only five people giving you that full, rich sound. It’s seriously BONKERS. ps-thanks for cranking the volume on this one!
Now that you're a Pentataholic you have to give a listen to another awesome acapella band called Home Free. Start out with Man of Constant Sorrow and you'll be going down another rabbit hole. You'll soon become a "Home Fry".
Lots and lots of Pentatomix. YES!! Do react to Bohemian Rhapsody., Amazing Grace, Evolution of Michael Jackson. And to see how they started react to their performances of Season 3 of The Sing-Off This 68 year old Pentaholic subscribed to your channel to watch you enter the Pentatonx "rabbit hole" Welcome to the ride, glad your sis invited you on the journey.
Best this was recorded in a closet of Kevin and Avi's apartment. You can see the ring light they used in Kevins glasses. And they won their first Grammy for this song.
There is a phone recorded version of this. Just them in a room with a few people recorded on a phone. Pretty incredible that it sounded really close to the same as the recording. The recorded version is better mixed and some reverb added but it is astounding how good it sounds without any effects.
Great reaction-although your sister might be a little right-lol! Jk! I'm going to be different then everyone else & say if you really want your mind blown watch PTXs live Popspring concert-it's 3 amazing original songs plus the Evolution of Michael Jackson! You'll be shocked at how they sound live & it might finally sink in that they really are doing everything vocally! Welcome to the a Pentatonix rabbit hole my friend!
If you guys have any advice for how I can make my channel better, please feel free to let me know. I want to make this the best reaction channel on RU-vid but I have a long way to go. Thanks for the help and much love!
This has more to do with your PTX reactions not getting claimed or blocked. You’ll need to stop some and/or put some sort of filter over the PTX video :). 🌺
They all have been claimed so far but not blocked. I don’t mind claims since my channel is tiny and as of right now, I’m mostly just concerned with video quality, interaction and channel growth. The claims make it so any ads played on my video will pay out to the respective owners, which I also feel is the right thing. I’m just reacting to the awesome work they’ve done. Maybe I’ll feel differently a little later down the line, but for now, I’m happy just making videos.
@@RambossTheTerrible New sub for your PTX/PMJ journeys, thank your sister for us. Based on your enjoyment of this one and 'Hallelujah', I would second the suggestions of 'Love Again' and 'Amazing Grace' and would add one more original from their last Christmas album, 'Thank You'. It is kind of a rarity in that it does include instrumentation in the form of Kevin (beatboxer) playing cello while beatboxing and Scott (tall blond) on piano which was a first for them. As far as your reactions in general, I think they are just about as perfect as they can get. Seconding the recommendation of filtering the video images and pausing for commentary to avoid copyright strikes. However, if they happen, usually if you challenge them on the basis of "fair use" they are released in 48-72 hours. There are a few suggestions for broadening your pool of source material, increasing your sub base, and discovering some insane talent at the same time. They are what I consider the 1A and 1B for "best female vocalists in the world" right now. The first is a South Korean, former CCM/Gospel singer named Sohyang. Dubbed "the South Korean Mariah Carey" her voice control and range are out of this world. She also writes her own arrangements for her performances. I am a huge fan of Morgan James and this woman is on a whole other level IMHO. Standard introductory selections for her are 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'I Have Nothing', 'Lean on Me', 'You Raise Me Up', and her master-class in vocal control and stamina 'Everyone' (it is Korean and English so use the Vimeo version with CC's). All of these fall into what I refer to as her "epics". She also has several performances from a TV show called 'Begin Again' that feature her along with a group of singers and musicians performing stripped-down, acoustic, "busking"-style pop-up concerts. That show a completely different side to her skills and emotive capabilities. Here is a playlist of those ru-vid.com/group/PL0qKlaJIAGmkqREjAcO-g0SU1VG4iFcoo The other is a Filipino artist named Morissette Amon, "Asia's Phoenix". She is a more pop driven artist and is equally impressive in her vocal stamina and control. She also just released an EP of originals which she co-wrote and produced with her fiance. Her introductory offerings would include her performances on the "Wish Bus" of 'Rise Up', 'Never Enough', and 'Akin Ka Na Lang' (CC's). Both of these artists have very devoted and active fanbases who, like Pentaholics, will drive you subs up quickly.
So much more to react to by these guys that will BLOW you AWAY! If you like guitar, there's a really cool guy called Dovydas (that's also his channel name on RU-vid) who takes people's requests, whether he's heard them before or not, and turns them into masterpieces. Check out some of his videos on his channel - he kills that guitar.
They made this video in Avi the Bass & Kevin the Beatboxers apartment in their kitchen and closet. It cost them $400.00 to make and they won their first Grammy for it.
Now that you've had a taste of them covering EDM.... Try their original EDM "Love Again". We all love seeing a new Pentaholic being born. Loving your reactions. Keep 'em coming 😉
Bohemian Rhapsody was actually recommended on Dr. Brian May's (lead guitar Queen) RU-vid channel and Imagine is phenomenal. Their version of Sound of Silence is based off the Disturbed remake (it has Matt who replaced Avi { base}in 2017). Mary Did You Know is another great one. You really can't go wrong with anything they do.
