They are awesome. I love them. The helmets are part of the magical quality of Daft Punk. I don't know why people keep saying these are stand-ins. They may have done that before, but for events like the Grammy's...Don't you think they want to be part of their album winning a Grammy? They're not gonna send stand-ins for that. Come on.

it actually wasnt daft punk for the grammys this year. you can see thomas and guy sitting on either side of the robots during the grammys. not many people know what they look like, obviously, but its them.

They have to pretend they are human, the rules won't allow them to give awards to robots. But just to be safe, the band brought some humans with them on stage when receiving their award, so the Grammy officials can always pretend those were the humans that they were allowed to give the award to.

Actually, average cpu temps under normal usage is between 55 to 65°C. If you're unsure what that means, it's 131 to 149°F. Your argument is invalid sir.

I know that robot brains can survive up to around 70 C / 160 F (more if mil spec/extended temp range components), but they prefer being cooler. CPU temps in computers are a compromise between too hot and too expensive cooling.

Fun fact: Back in 2001 when they had LEDs in their helmets, they had to wear these big backpacks to hold all the electronics and batteries. They also wore gauntlets on their arms that controlled the LEDs. (The helmets were also incredibly stuffy on the inside when wearing them, but this problem was fixed in later variants with the addition of several air vents.) Of course, nowadays technology has advanced to the point where the entire LED array as well as the circuit boards and batteries that power it can fit neatly inside the helmet itself. Many fan-made helmets have shown this. But sadly they're just not interested in having lights anymore. Which sucks, I'd love to see the classic Discovery lights paired with the RAM ultra gloss. It'd look so cool.
