In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 we’ve seen a lot of weird stuff happening already but one of the stranger things was watching Dagon, our more or less friendly looking squid curse with a cute voice, being enraged by the loss of Hanami and morphing into a hulking red beast, however from the databook we can gather even more info about Dagon now that he’s been defeated, like did you know that Dagon was responsible for eating as many humans as possible during the Shibuya incident, but despite the fact that he ate so many Gege says Dagon’s stomach actually dissolved them and converted them into cursed energy, and even the bones he spat up before transforming would have been dissolved into more power eventually, however he had everything he needed to transform. On the transformation itself, Gege says that only curses that are extremely feared will ever have an evolution, however specifically for cursed wombs like Dagon, their potential is determined from the moment they’re born, so for them it’s all about extracting the most from their potential, which in some cases means transforming into a more powerful stage to survive, but even then they can only grow their power to a certain peak, so there’s no world where Dagon could’ve gotten stronger to defeat Toji.

Weird how they never put Dagons horse shoe crab shinigami in the anime. Those were stated to be the strongest creatures he could summon. Which made Dagon look even worse than he did in the manga.😢

Cursed energy is kinda like radio waves or something of that nature (invisible to naked eye) but Toji has so good senses he can see them. Normal sorcerers just have the proper brains to see them so they dont need good senses.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s kinda weird that Dagon is the weakest of the disaster curses? Sure volcanos are scary and the forest can be kinda intimidating, but the ocean is one of the most terrifying mysterious places on earth. It perfectly embodies humanities primal fear of the unknown and prefixes the most terrifying natural disasters. So with that Dagon should be objectively at least as strong as Jogo, but somehow he is weaker than the bloody forest spirit.
