I was there! Late May, 1961, I was a sophomore at MIT at 17. I saved my lunch allowance and jeepney fare and walked to school for a couple of months to afford a reseved seat and see Nat King Cole clearly perform live at Araneta Coliseum. A little sacrifice and money well spent to watch one of my top 3 favorite singers perform live.
Wow, I really remember when Nat king Cole performed in Manilla, because I was a teenager at d age of 15 yrs old that time, Araneta Coliseum loaded with fans and spectators, Now I'm almost 80 yrs old and remembering all of those happiness that I've going through.and thanks God for giving me a great fulfilment in life and success. God bless us all.
Here I was thinking Nat King Cole, my favorite of all time, would never sing such a song that speaks my mother tounge. I am very grateful for you sharing this magnificent work. *Thank you so much*
Nat King Cole had a maravelous voice singing in both tagalog and spanish Here you can find a version in Spanish from a guy of Iloilo ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WP_5eExDufg.html

ENGLISH TRANSLATION: *Because of you, I want to live* Dahil sa iyo, nais kong mabuhay *Because of you, until I die* Dahil sa iyo, hanggang mamatay *You should know, I have no other love* Dapat mong tantuin, wala nang ibang giliw *Ask my heart, it's you and still you* Puso ko’y tanungin, ikaw at ikaw rin *Because of you, I became happy* Dahil sa iyo, ako’y lumigaya *My love, I'll offer to you* Pagmamahal, ay alayan ka *If you will truly enslave me* Kung tunay man ako ay alipinin mo *All of this is because of you* Ang lahat ng ito’y dahil sa iyo
This was in 1961. Wasn't born yet, but I was there as a time traveler 😂😂😂. Wish we could all hear the great Nat on a high resolution system, goose bumps all over. Nothing compares, we only get one per century
If I remember it right , the year was 1964, I was a grade 4 student then and my eldest brother together with our mother and a younger brother watched this at the Araneta Coliseum, and my mother was really amazed watching his performances and teary-eyed when Nat sang this.
Thanks for sharing this Legendary Nat King Cole's rendetion of "Dahil Sa'yo".... that Golden Voice is still shining, first time to hear this song from him... he is my all time fav!!!
This is the time also when my father in law won the Nat King Cole of ths Phils. He was congratulated by the man who wear green suit. Lucky him and still has the voice.
This was brought to my attention by my former Filipino neighbors. To me it shows the power of music and how even attempting to understand other people can be oh so powerful......
I love the Great Nat King Cole. My dad used to listen to him all the time. I grew up listening to him and Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., etc. I never heard this till today and being Filipino...memories of my Dad listening to his music just brought tears of pure joy and love. Thank you for the memories. ❤
nat king cole you are my favorite sunger and I am happy you are not prejudice. not like Ricky Nelson, Beatles and other white singer who perform on the philippines. I wish you are still alive.
❤Epic! Classic! Timeless!🎉 My all time favorite singer Nat King Cole, you truly are the BEST, not because you sang my native land’s all time favorite love song but by the way you sing; suave, clear, and the world’s most “unforgettable” voice & style! And thank you for spending time in my homeland and gracing us with your presence! I’m sure you’ve inspired many aspiring past, present, & future singers. Perhaps your presence, along with someone’s Divine Gift of Voice & a Family’s endearing support, made our country’s people the world’s best singers & entertainers!😮😊❤
Kala ko nung naririnig ko to sa radyo may nanggagaya lang sa boses ni nat king cole na pinoy. Totoo palang sya yun. Nag concert pala sya sa pilipinas. Siguro time to ng 50's
Napanuod ko iyan bata pa lang ako mga 12 yrs old ako sa Araneta Coliseum. 1961 ata iyan bus lang sakay namin mula Caloocan sa Highway 54 ang daan baba ng aurora blvd. Ang husay niyan
I was thinking my beautiful memories of 1975~1978, when I stayed in Philippines. At that time the 'Dahil Sayo' was very popular and can hear all the times! I can not forget the warm and beloved Philippians with this song! One of my friends likes and sing this song whenever we go Karaoke in Korea. I think this song is love song of Philippines. Very happy to find today after so long time!
Dec. 26, 2023 and I woke up literarally because of perfect weather but my mood and feelings became hot when I know about this, Nat King Cole sang it very clear and perfect 💜 It made my new day happier.
The best singer in the world. No one can imitate the great voice of Nat King Cole. He is the best. Imagine he can sing a Filipino song in a few hours before singing in the crowds. Incredible.
