from what i understand, the founders of kyokushin were practitioners of judo and other various jutjitsus but they did not have them allowed in the kyokushin turnies. the person who branched off was a practitioner and champion of kyokushin, Azuma Takashi. He made more like what MMA is today. Judo, Jujitsu, karate, kick boxing etc. untill then kyokushin had practitioners of mostly striking although some of them knew judo and jujitsu as well. but it wasn't allowed untill daido juko came along
This is from wikipedia, which was edited by Azuma Jukucho: "at the time of its creation in 1980, Judo and Karate. In the late 80's and early 90's the style began to incorporate various techniques from muay thai, boxing, jiu-jitsu, sambo and other martial arts, fine tuning each technique for use within the Daidojuku style"

Salut Sonny. Osu!
