School nursing in a pandemic? I have the utmost respect! I’ve spent 39 years in schools and it’s amazing what all the nurse does. Good for you.

You will be wonderful as a School 👩‍⚕️ nurse. You have a caring, kind heart. Also we will get to hear the funny stories. I flooded at high school such a nightmare. Just don’t overdo it. I don’t mind when u have breaks from RU-vid, I miss u but you are a busy woman. Be always kind to yourself. Blessings from Colleen NZ.

You're going to do well as a nurse in school. Kids will love you and the sense of humor you have. Glad that both Addie and Henry had a great busy weekend with friends. Tell Addie good luck at her upcoming dance recital. I'm sure she will do amazing. Great journal session as always. Thanks for sharing with us!

Ah, Caribou Coffee! Reminds me of when I came over to the US a few years ago and met up with some of my online planner friends at a Caribou in Minneapolis - good times! Love hearing your stories - having dropped out of teacher training myself, I'm in awe of anyone who can deal with dozens of random kids for 8 hours at a stretch 😂 (Obviously I didn't fly across the Atlantic *just* to see my planner friends - I was there for a convention - but it was a nice bonus!)

I really enjoyed listening to your experience with school nursing. My mom did pretty much the same thing you are doing. I’m 39 now and when I was in elementary school, she went from working as a nurse in a cath lab to the school nurse at my elementary school so it was interesting hearing your perspective.

The schools are so lucky to have you. We teachers know how hard the elementary school nurses work in all of the ways. I know how hard the secondary nurses work bc my daughter was a frequent flyer. I said that she should have had the high school nurses give her her diploma. No one appreciates me.

Emi... hey weasel panty! Lol. I totally understand the half pages now! One of the reasons I'm so sporadic at journaling is just what you said... some days, all that's happened was I woke, I read, I went to bed! Other days, like the day the HVAC folks accidently let in TWO birds (leaving me to deal with them while my cats were trying to catch the poor things!), are just packed so full it feels like 10 pages wouldn't be enough! I kind of grasped the half-pages before, but I don't think the full glory of cutting down your paper to a size to fit your actual day actually sunk in fully. Ohhh, poor Henry! And I totally understand how it hurts you - on EVERY LEVEL, doen to the tiniest partical of yourself, to not be able to take that for him, so he wasn't suffering. I'm like that with hubs & the kitties, but also still, even though my son is in his 20's and off living his best life... wish I could take his illnesses, his struggle with depression, his worries... I wish I could carry those for him. Our children, our fur-kids, those we love with ever fiber of our being... especially the first 2... they just don't understand how the one who cares for them, who soothes them, who loves them so completely... why CAN'T they make THIS better... even as you'd give everything of yourself to make them feel better. Btw... GINGER TEA. Real ginger, either a piece of the root steeped in boiling water, or take a couple (at least 2!) coffee filters, put a small amount of dried ginger in it, close it up with a tie of some kind and pop it into hot water for a minute or two. Taste it, if it's really strong, dilute it. If it's very weak, let it steep a little longer. Add a dollop or ten of honey ;). It may not fully halt the puking - although I've seen it happen, lol, but it does ease it a lot. A friend's kid had a bad tummy bug when I visited once (would have avoided had I known kid was sick... bad immune system lol), but she drank a cup of my "magic tea" (wasn't thrilled with the "heat" of the ginger, but I told her magic always feels warm!), but this kid who'd been puking every 10-30 minutes for over 18 hours was wanting to run and play an hour later. It always amazes me how fast kids bounce back once they get through the worst of their illnesses. I get sick now and its weeks before I feel "normal"... kids, they're ready to go run and play after they get a good sleep! Glad Henry's feeling so much better! ... I have full respect for school nurses. I knew they did much more than deal with regular meds, bandaids, etc... but really had no idea just how MUCH they did. I can see how the elementary, middle, and 9th grades differ as well... as kids grow, their "emergencies" change, although some remain the same. I can only imagine what goes on in that 1 room if the kid has no idea they're on a baby monitor, considering the age. I'm giggling and yet kind of horrified, too, at where my imagination went. From flicking snot to scratching butts, to worse. Admittedly, most of its just funny. But, it gives me a better understanding of why every school nurse (granted, they were "retired", but there were 2 per school, each part-time, and EVERY SINGLE ONE was over 70!) in my own schools growing up were GROUCHY. I mean, one of them was so bad in middle school that NOBODY wanted to skip classes that way! Even if you had a legit issue like vomiting, she made you feel like poo on her shoe, a nasty inconvenience to spoil her otherwise quiet day. To know that even though some of these "issues" you'll be handling are pretty trivial that these kids feel SAFE enough to come to you speaks highly about the team you're now part of. It means they're handled with compassion and dignity, and that is beautiful. I'm thrilled both Henry & Addy had such a great weekend. Could you imagine being those twins' parents & having to hold two birthday parties back to back like that? My mind boggles at the thought. But, at the same time, I really want to applaud them for recognizing they are two different people and having seperate celebrations for both. I adore your Sunday page... so vibrant and chock full of those worthy goals! I'll have to rewind so I can write them down =D You are sounding much more relaxed... it sounds as if you're entering your "Summer". A 12 hour sleep is amazing when it happens. Sometimes, the body says, "Ok... no need to be up early or stay up late, lets get our snooze on!" and... even if you wanted to say no to it, it's happening! Body knows that healing and rejuvenation occurs during that precious time we sleep, and while it can fend off the need for a time, it delays that healing, that rejuvenation we so desperately require - even when we're "hale and hearty", it does us so much good. And I can tell its done wonders for you, my friend. Brightest everything for you & yours. (And no more "bugs" invading! Lol)
