This is a video of the daily ferret care routine. One of the subscribers asked for this and I have been putting it together. It starts in the morning and ends in the evening. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them! Have fun watching!

The black corrugated perforated tube is from Lowes and is about $5.50. The clear tube is from Ferretdepot.com. The cage is from Ferret.com when the shipping is free for any order over $49.00. The white midwest playpen is from Dog.com when shipping is free over $49.00. The krinkle tube is from Walmart cat section.

The duck soup is soaked kibble and boiled chicken and hard boiled eggs. All blended together with a very heavy addition of Ferretone. You make it soupy so they can just lap at it.

Salem Curtiss it really depends on your dog. I have a Chihuahua (female) and she's basically a teacup Chihuahua. She is very attached to my mother and then me, then father, then lastly my brother. It took her probably a few days because she may have been a bit jealous and curious. Now she plays with him(ferret) as if she were a ferret too. Biting and running, all the time s u p e r v i s e d.

Brings back sweet memories. My Ying-man had his first crash crises October 2020. That warranted Emergency Vet Care. He was my last ferret and passed away June 26, 2021. I truly miss having ferrets. The last year of my Ying-man's life, his health declined. He was a real trooper. He brought great joy to our lives.

You can do that if u want. My last ferret Blake just passed at 7 yrs 10 months. He was on a high quality kibble diet. He had a great life on it! That is a choice for the owner to make.

complete sidebar from the main portion of the video- I love how you kept at Truffles to sit when she didn't when you first asked! It's a pet peeve of mine to see owners ask a command of their dog and not enforce it, consistency is key! your ferret set up looks similar to ours did before we moved, no room for playpen to be attached anymore, but with 2 ferrets they're plenty fine in the ferret nation cage when they have to be, otherwise we try to have them out whenever we are home.

Sorry u feel that way. I cannot stand the smell of amonia at all, so I scoop all of the pine pellet dust. please feel free to continue to clean ur litter boxes as u see fit!

You could put a piece of paper towel or something the base of the litter pan so you can just pick it up out of the pan

Yes! I have Duncan 17 yr old ferret poodle and Truffles 5 yr old poodle. They both walk 1 to 1.5 miles each day! Duncan may not see well anymore but he eats well, loves his walk and poops good! A good old dogs life!

I do leave it open and my Blake is the only one to escape!!! He did it the other day but he did not climb the side he worked his way over the open door and down between the cage and wall. I have black tubing on the pen top now.

hm maybe its the liter that smells... or the evo.. consider wysong its better. nothing smells where my are. besides like i said what i clean is just the pee and poop... i dont waste any liter that wasnt touched.

Can I suggest clumping, odourless, dust free cat litter, many say it's not good for them but it's cheap, it's not toxic when consumed (unlike the stuff you're using, it's not something they like to talk about) and it doesn't smell at all!

Mine have no interest in eating the pine pellets and neither have the hundreds that-have been through my friends rescue. My pine pellets cost $7.00 per 40lbs bag.

pia a We get 40lb bags for £5.50...I think that's the same price? Because the cat litter clumps and ferret poop is quite liquidy(?) it makes cleaning much easier and means you don't have to empty the whole litter box.

+Rex888dA if litter clumps, it is no good for ferrets. it can and will get into their nose and it will cause problems (eventually) I mean, it's a personal choice, but it's good to be informed on the topic. I'd hate for someone to lose their ferret because of something they didn't realize.

kristin wilhelm I now know this, I did not at the time I've now found that the wooden pellets that turn into sawdust would actually work best because clumping litter can cause impactions.

Rex888dA very good observation. A lot of people use the recycled paper pellets, but those can get stuck in their digestive system. I like walnut based litter pellets, personally. I'm glad that since then you've learned. I figured that of you haven't yet, it'd be worth it for me to say something. :)

Just pick a hand movement for come or teach them to stand up. Then you approximate each movement to teach something new. Those two things are easy to train with a piece of a treat in your hand. You can look up teaching deaf ferrets in the net

Each of them was less than $40.00 since they are all rescues and actually two of them were free with a horribly dirty cage.

They were rescues and two were free, one was $70.00 off Craigslist and one was $25.00 from Animal Control. All were rescues and the cost will vary.

Love the gate on the "play pen" as we call it in our home with opening door. What kind is it? I have 4 rescues that are close to all the same colors as your fur babies. Its great having our 4, watching them all play together

Actually don't shop at walmart, they use lower quality materials in everything making them cheaper. Shoes sold at regular stores cost more but they last longer. Clothing is the same. Though other stores do this too like Kohls and what not

It is not really cedar it is woodstove pellets. Wood stove pellets are comepletly safe. :)

If you let them outside in a pen make sure it is covered! They can climb out and be gone!

we used aspen and guess what happened! it cause us a trip to the e.r.! Toby had such wheezing going on. we now use only sorb cell?? can't remember the name exactly..the farm king has wood pellets and we keep looking at them but it says not for animal use, but says no chemicals?? so we are like what do ya do?? it is a huge bag, cheap to, take a chance but end up with e.r. bill again or stick w what we have been using cause he seems to very sensitive

I know i'm no expert and pie has probably been doing this longer than me but in my opinion you should have your ferrets on a raw diet because they, *are* obsolete carnivores and a raw diet has a lot of health benefits and when the fur and bones pass through their teeth it helps the tartar build up but ferrets are smart and know not to swallow bones

Hmm, what does that soup contain other than duck? Though I'm sure you know what you're doing and its harmless, I'm mostly curious incase I get some for mine but pretty sure it contains stuff some might say is not advisable, depends on which you bought so.. whats in it? x3

I would love to do that idea with the playpen wrapping around the cage so they can go in and out as they want. But my parents were definitely climb on top of the cage and then get out of the playpen. Do yours not do that?

Do your ferrets ever try getting out of the play pen? With the cage or the cat scratch thing you have? Mine would get out the second I put those in.

Why do you use this litter? Is (natural, without perfume ect.) cat litter bad for them?

regular cat litter clumps when it gets wet. therefore, if a ferret breathes in the dust, it can clump in their nose or lungs or even the urethra and cause serious health issues. non-clumping litter is what ferrets must have.
