Daily HABITS for a CLEAN DECLUTTERED home

I went to boarding school for 3 years in my early teens and we were required to be neat and tidy. Our closets and lockers were inspected every Saturday morning before we could have our freedom for the weekend. This included polishing our shoes. That taught me the power of small habits of tidiness, how much easier it is to return the thing to where it lives immediately than live with it "out" for a week, slowly getting irritated, and losing respect for it. I feel like I'm constantly tidying and putting things away, but the flip side of that is that I never, ever do a "big" tidy. My place is always pretty neat. How I like it.

Mini at the end fixing the blankets was so cute! My pup waits for me to straighten the blankets, then he immediately bunches them up. I suppose he and I have different styles. Clean as you go is one of my most favorite things about keeping a clean and tidy home, especially in my kitchen. Airing out the bed...yes ! I do it every single morning. Wearing clothes again... I agree, if they're not dirty, just hang them up to wear again. Your cat must be like having a toddler in your home again lolol tfs 🥰❄☃☔🌞🏜✝💗

The problem is having to live with someone who has a difficult time to let things go. And their version of coziness and convenience is to layout everything within reach and sight like a convenient store!

I so very much look forward to these videos. I really do. Once when we were having new flooring installed in our kiddo's bedroom, we emptied it of everything and at the end of the day, we only had time and energy to return the bed. He slept in the room without any other furniture, toys, or such belongings. The next day, he remarked that he had never slept so well as he did that night. He said he slept soundly, peacefully, and woke fully rested and refreshed. He theorized it was because his room was bare and uncluttered.

One habit I incorporated in my routine, every second day or so, I add baking sofa in my toilet bowl to take away any odor. It also makes it easier to wash for my weekly routine.

What I always strive to do every night before turning it is to keep the dining table/work table free of anything. Just seeing a clear space in the morning makes a difference in my day. Thank you for your tips!

In my childhood I never had much space or things. We lived in a ver small flat so there was no room for clutter. I always wanted to have more room and more things. As an adult I accumulated many many Things. I thought I needed glassware for every drink possible, dishes for multiple dinner parties, cutlery for 20 people. Decorations for every time of the year. Pillows, towels, sheets…. Not to mention shoes and clothes. I made so many unthoughtful purchases on my travels…always thinking, if I don’t buy it today, I will never have it… and then…many years flea markets online sales drives to the goodwill or Red Cross, my belongings have diminished. I can not fully proclaim myself a minimalist, but I don’t buy things carelessly, I always ask myself do I need this, and if, what can go for it. I am very tidy. I clean as I go, have the 5 minute rule ( what can be done in 5 minutes will be done immediately) everything has a place and I know exactly where it is. My husband ( different Type unfortunately..) can call me when I’m away (flight attendant here) and I will know where the missing lightbulb or the screwdriver is…. Just today I decluttered the basement. It’s not empty enough, but we have a huge supply on water, juice, coke,🧻 and some non perishables there. Even wine and champagne for guest (we don’t drink)….if it was for me…much less. Now I need to make it happen my husband clears out his office to make room for my personal space. He has a large office rented just opposite in a different house . But he is so lazy. Excuses excuses.

Jag tittar på minimalistismvideos och organsitsationsvideos för inspiration när jag vill plocka undan, men har väldigt lite kraft. Då brukar det kännas lättare mentalt åtminstone, och jag gör åtminstone. Tack för du hjälpte mig idag. Jag tog bort några böcker jag ska skicka vidare och tog undan lite annat som bara låg och stökade. 😊

I’ve always cleaned as I go out of habit; I don’t even realize I’m doing it. I have to be careful when I’m at other people’s houses or out in public places…I find myself having an urge to do it there too. 😂

I hope you have many people want to take your course. I am just like you in my home but I have grown kids I wish would clean a little every day. I don’t say anything to them to keep our relationships nice but I can always hope for the future.

Dear Benita, I am really addicted to your videos - they are so informative, inspiring and a true aesthetic pleasure to watch. I live in a 38sqm small (but lovely!) apartment, with a „larger“ room combining living and sleeping room with access to a beautiful balcony which is covered by half by the roof, plus a tiny separate kitchen and a tiny bathroom. I use to do everything exactly you do in your video, really every single detail 😂 Because otherwise, everything ends up in a mess in no time! I do not have much clutter, but only because I‘m constantly reviewing my belongings and declutter everything regularly - clothes, books, bathroom / make up / cleaning / kitchen items, just everything. I clean and tidy every day, but not as a „big project“, but as a natural routine: e.g. wiping after shower, making my bed before breakfast, quickly vacuuming afterwards, etc etc. So it takes only single minutes and my home stays clean, tidy and cozy and a deep cleaning on the weekend does not take hours or the whole day! Thanks for all your good advices - I have learnt a lot from your routine and habits and have adapted some to improve mine! Love and regards from Germany 😊💛

My mum said the same thing about airing clothes outside. It really is an excellent idea. Have you ever sit next to a person on the bus and smell the horrendous BO from the clothes? Airing clothes and bed sheets frequently are a must. Very good video. Thx.
