Hi Everybody. They got salt licks in their forest. The Moose was abandoned from his mother from the day he was born. So this guy took care of him. So he sees him as his mother, thats why he licks him, he doesnt lick other humans, the other moose dont lick any human. Its not a salt lick thing, its a mother and baby thing 😊
When she came back in with the head for another hug @2:10, gave me a cuteness overload. Excellent work with your pointy ponies my man, brings a warmth to this Mainer's heart.
Lets think about this differently. You raise an animal, it is used to you. You put some food in your hand and hold it out, the animal eats from your hand. Someone else the animal doesn't know tries this, and the animal doesn't eat out of the hand. Does that mean that eating is how the animal shows affection? It shows that the animal is comfortable with the person that raised it, and feels safe eating from his/her hand. It is a show of affection in the sense of feeling safe, but the actual act of eating isn't a show of affection. The same goes for licking, the moose is driven to lick salt and minerals, they are extremely vital for all large animals, but the moose isn't going to just lick random people for that salt.. it needs to be comfortable first. So, yes, the licking does show that the moose is very trusting of this person, and some temporary licking is part of the process of "making friends" at least in deer, but the amount of licking going on here is really for nutrition. We have to look at ALL of the animals behavior when deciding it's emotional state, and not just one behavior. Having a salt lick also wont stop it, moose, deer, cow, etc are naturally wired to seek out salt, and even if they have blocks of salt, they will still lick another available source. Now for a random relevant fact that may save your life one day...a moose standing and staring you down while licking its lips is generally a sign of aggression and a precursor to charging...they sometimes clack their teeth also, this only applies when the moose is staring at you and licking it's lips.. not licking other things. Spent 15+ winters in North woods of Michigan peninsula & volunteered with DNR for counting & tagging deer & moose before & after hunting season. Not an expert in ungulates, but did learn a lot more than the average person.
Moose are such huge majestic creatures. It is truly heartwarming seeing this side of them being lovingly socialized and not stomping the crap out of a target.❤
I've never seen a human being and any moose having a relationship together. Thanks for sharing this. Just goes to show you that animals can teach us so much.
This is being said a lot about many species and human interaction. Our collective conscious is beginning to open to our impact on the world around us. We can be such a beautiful source of love in harmony with this world. Let’s hope we recognize this as soon as possible.
Thanks you for adding in "if hand raised". By going off a lot of the replies here, I'd expect a small increase in human-moose attacks as viewers come across a random moose and decide a selfie of them hugging a moose would be AWESOME. Moose are insanely dangerous.
So sweet…they might really like being brushed or combed with a scratchy comb…it would probably feel really good to them. They have such sweet faces and beautiful eyes.
Humans are animals. Nothing unexpected about it at all. Homo Sapiens is not that different from other animals. Though there seems to be a tendency and ambition among them to assume that they are so special in every way. And still they also prefer to think about their pets using very human centered terminology about emotion and needs. Well, we are what we are and taking any other point of view from outside ourselves is very challenging. Perhaps not even possible for us.
I love seeing these majestic animals be so affectionate! I visited an animal rescue place in Alaska that had very relaxed moose that came and went as they pleased. I fed them bananas, which they loved! The guy had a pet badger he rescued as a baby that cuddled up on his lap! ❤
Surprised they are so tame. I do notice you are careful where their racks are in relation to you face. Smart man. Unintentionally could get hit. Great video quality.
Big love. Grand. Moose style. So majestic. Love the nuzzling. What an experience! I've always been fascinated by moose. Lucky to see them in the wild while traveling in northern Ontario Canada. I like your job.
BIG difference between these lovelies and Canadian moose though. Canada moose are wild and should NEVER be approached-they can seriously injure or kill a person. Just be wise and everyone will b fine 😊
@@cynthusinfinite I actually wasn’t talking to you specifically-just throwing that out there. Every year we get tourists that forget that in the wild these guys can be dangerous. No offence was intended so please don’t take any
@@christinestewart9374 yes thank you. I'm highly sensitive to the welfare of wildlife. I know how tourists, humans can want to take "selfies" up close and it's a bit of a trigger for me as it often results in animals being animals then authorities get involved and the animals put down. Stay away is my go to. I just watched a sick animal (racoon) endure 100's of people lining up to take their pic with it. I have to talk my rage down. You sound like a bird of a feather but with a gentle message to keep distance. Me not so much. Quick to anger. 😏
They look so loving so friendly and complete different from what we been told by them charging and raking the ground. It's like human interaction is daily life
I have come upon wild Moose so much in my life. They are sweet and curious. But, they can also be dangerous and should be left alone . Let them stay wild ❤️❤️❤️
Engish xlate: Kind to Kind ! Health to pets ! People who help such handsome men Success and Prosperity My addon: moose need/want SALT BLOCK, as another suggested from the licking.
Aloha from Hilo, Hawaii, it's just so awesome, thank you for your kindness and love for these truly majestic creatures! Nature and all of her wonders, are the most important thing about our planet! Without it, we will be finished!
Jak dla mnie najwspanialsze zwierzę z rodziny jeleniowatych. Miałem okazję kilkukrotnie widzieć je na żywo w ich naturalnym środowisku. Piękne majestatyczne zwierzęta.
the way animals dip their head into you to show affection is such a beautiful thing. Ive had birds, dogs, cats, horses and even mice and rabbits do this.
A moose maybe nice to bond with, I have seen videos of moose chasing a bear and the bear was running for it’s life, moose don’t look so nice when they are pissed off.
only one word I can think of AMAZING... you have a gift.. thank you for sharing... if you have time, come and tame our wombats, and our roos... Love from the land down under. God bless you and please take care. the world needs you
Oh wow! I had no idea Donkeys could grow horns! Lol! IJK! What a wonderful farm you have put together! Developing a whole herd of tame Moose is not the easiest or most inexpensive thing in the world, gud job.
@@crashalexander7232 There's no way you get me to even approach a moose with a set of giant toe nail clippers... The trust and affection they showed him was amazing to see.
It's like watching the movie Frozen. Sven and Kristoff!!😁😁 Can ordinary tourists experience this place? This is such a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing!! :)
So sweet reminds me of my childhood, and my three moose friends that lived in our yard and I would see them every morning on my way to school in the winter and when I come home at night, they would be there but strange things happen three weeks before my father would come home my friends would pack up and leave so I knew dad was going to be home soon because they only laughed when he came home because unfortunately we were hunters and guides and they were on our number one list but they were still my friends and I refused to hunt himthank you for sharing
This is really unusual. Never see much videos on moose or elk. Didn’t know they could b friendly. But looks like you know them well. Otherwise, run the other way! Big boys own the road!❤
Wow this is so wonderful to see, they are so calm and laid back, though as an earlier comment said - wait till mating season, I bet things get a bit livelier then ! I bet it's exciting though when the babies are born - even if you can't get too close to them for a while. It's sad to think though that some people prefer to hunt and kill animals - thank goodness for people like you who remind us that there are also kind and caring souls out there .❤😊
Wow I've never seen anyone work with mooses like this. I've always heard of them as randomly aggressive from books I used to read about them eating water lillies and getting mad cow. Really amazing to see these animals trusting and interacting with you.
