I’ve been accepted to the program and I’m tryna do some research but I can’t find like any legitimate reviews. But I’m doing the jewerly and metal arts one which I think is new this year. Anyways I was just wondering what the weeekends look like? Are you allowed to just explore the city or are they more strict on off campus stuff? Also how strict are they in curfew and stuff like that? And is there like any specific good/bad things you remember? That’s like a lot but yeah, thank you!!

it's so great to hear that you're going to the program this year!! i definitely recommend it as it gives you a great taste of the experience of a college student in sf/cca. abt weekends, if you are living in dorms, then i am not quite sure about the specifics as I live near sf and spent my own weekends outside of cca. if you are coming in and living in dorms, i remember there being tours and activities that the program plans and creates for people living in the dorms. i believe you are also able to explore sf on your own or with friends, and the area is very convenient as there is public transport around the city to get you possibly anywhere. the program also brought us on frequent field trips during school, so that was memorable. i hope that helps answer some qs you may have so far. it was def a great experience for me, and i would def go back again if i did not count the tuition portion. :)) i hope you enjoy ur time there this summer!

Hey Ella, I have the same questions about the weekends, curfews and campus restrictions. I was wondering if you could help me out with such info. Thank you!!

@@viswar.k.2122 from my experience last summer, I think the curfew was like 11:30 on weekends and 10:30 during the week but thag could be off a lil bit. I think you also couldn’t leave the building until like 10 or something on weekends but they might have changed that because there were alottt of complaints. The program often planned trips on the weekend however you’re also allowed to go out with a group of friends and do whatever, the trips were not mandatory but some of them where pretty cool. Towards the end the weekends also consisted of quite a lot of homework- like finishing up your big final projects. The biggest annoying thing for me was that you could not leave the building without two other people and you had to sign out. I understand sort of why that rule existed because San Fran is very dangerous and there is some like younger people in the program but some people were like 18 and it was silly like I got in trouble for going on a short walk w one of my friends which felt so silly to me.

@@ellarachel6033 Hey thank you for your reply, may I ask for your insta (if that is fine with you) so that I can ask a few questions. I feel like asking on youtube is kinda too open. mine is just.viswa and the pfp is a cat photo.

Hey Joanna. I am a junior right now who lives internationally. I got accepted to the CCA architecture pre college program 2024 but I haven't been able to find any information about the type of things the course would cover. I was wondering if you had any remembrance of what you had learnt and studied in the program. This would truly help me out.

great to hear that you will be attending the program this coming summer! depending on which major/course u are taking, there will be different things you learn. for architecture, we were able to learn the basics like shape and design (plus other interesting concepts) and focused on sketching and model-making for the majority of the program. there are also days throughout the program each week where you get the opportunity to explore other media and forms of art which makes it very enjoyable (ex. i did screen printing and cyanotypes). hope you have a great time~~, and don't worry too much abt the program (i think it's better sometimes to go in without having too many expectations or impressions so that you will be able to be hit with surprises :D)
