Lorie Townsend, livestock specialist at the Upper Mountain Research Station in Ashe County, performs artificial insemination on a dairy cow, and explains the benefits to the herd.
You saying doing this is good and is not harmful for the cow? Get outside the bubble and think about others too That too has a life. We indians give the same respect to the cow as our mother. And you even think of doing this.
Pizda .P: Do you drink animal milk? Do you know where milk comes from? It comes from female cattle (cows, sheep, goats) that have calved. Until that point, mammals do not produce milk. To use live insemination on the large dairy farms that feed the rest of us millions of people who are not farmers and who rely on milk for nutrition would be foolish to say the least, and catastrophic in the end. Rutting bulls are extremely aggressive, dangerous and destructive, and would cause more damage than good, often to the very cows they’re mating with. Artificial insemination is in no way harmful to the cow (as you could see from the video) and ensures a supply of milk for the rest of us.
Ray Ray It’s not about using a more natural method to inseminate them. It’s objectionable from the start that they’re breeding them into existence. Relying on milk from exploited cows for nutrients is just straight up silly, plant milks have the same if not more nutrients without the cholesterol and negative saturated fat. Why filter your nutrients through another beings digestive tract 🤢
BingBongWasheeWashee: Milk is produced by the mammary glands of impregnated female mammals. Plants DO NOT produce milk, they produce sap and oils, and every plant sap and oil is different in chemical composition, some nutritious, some deadly toxic, and everything in between. So, if we’re going to stop producing milk we are also going to stop producing all cheeses, yogurts, cream, butter, ghee, cream soups, ice cream and several thousand other nutritious food products that use milk. Also, if we’re going to stop “filtering nutrients through another beings digestive tract...” then we’ll need to stop eating eggs. The fact is that the nutrients we feed cows are mostly cellulose which cannot be digested by humans. So we feed the cows and the cows feed us. Symbiotic. Further, a cow is a domestic animal and could not survive on its own...it would either starve to death in the first couple of months of winter or be killed by wolves and coyotes at the earliest opportunity. So if you’re happy to survive off soy oils or the latex from dandelions, I’m not. I like cheese, and yogurt, and milk, and eggs and bread and muffins and apple pie and hollandaise sauce and...well, tell me when to stop.
@@rayray8687 ever heard of milk weed? ever heard of coconut milk? Perhaps it is time for you to stop nursing and suckling from the tit of another animal. It is unnatural to suck or squeeze the tits of another animal to drink the excretions especially when you are an adult.
TheTirado2. Could your statement be any more ignorant LOL a heifer does not become a cow until she has a calf. The males are bulls and then when they are castrated they become steers. They are not all cows. Educate yourself before sounding stupid
It’s actually not that bad. It’s important to balance the genetics of the cows that will be born and as for the cow. They don’t feel pain when this is done. Just a little discomfort
@@henryhog4783 yes there is , truth hurts so what get over it . All that's happened is you realised what's really happening so don't have a go at him ok .
AM Camon Awe weeee! Bless your heart. I do have a solution to your problem though in one easy step. DONT WATCH THESE VIDEOS!!!!!!!!! If you're to much of a tree hugger then don't watch. Or do you just come to the videos just to put your two cents in like someone gives a crap what you think. If you get off on this then go to the website Gangbros
Then you have not even the tiniest comprehension of the severity of actual rape, if you think it's comparable to a mildly uncomfortable medical procedure the cow won't remember after a day.
@@packman1002 To be quick and blunt about it - it is rape. I can explain that statement if you want, however first I suggest you consider if that was a human how different things would be. Consider the insemination, pregnancy, birth and after birth process. Even the life of the calf.
Jeepman89 why would you need to be breastfeeding from a cow anymore than you’d need elephant milk, gorilla milk or rat milk? It’s well documented you can be perfectly healthy without animal products.
Brianna so do you think that if cows were not used commercially we would have as many cows we have now just doing nothing? It takes about 2.5 acres of land to raise a single cow on raw land. Why don’t you set the exemple and buy a bunch of land and leave your cows there doing nothing forever...

B Vegan get over it it's called life got to be able to take and have milk and dairy products and meat products I just wish all the tree huggers in the world will keep their comments to their selves
gary johnson jr We don’t need to consume diary or meat! There’s so many other alternatives out there to eat!! Besides this milk is meant for their baby calves to consume!
Keep in mind, that the calves still get their milk (just calves... "Baby calves" is redundant) ... Holsteins tend to overproduce, these calves actually can't physically consume the amount that the cows produce.
