A documentary focusing on the extraordinary life of Daisy, Countess of Warwick (Frances Evelyn Maynard) written and produced by Adam Busiakiewicz and Aaron Manning.
In this documentary Daisy's life as an Edwardian Socialite is compared with her later reincarnation as a staunch socialist. Her support of the fledgling Labour Party earned her the nickname The 'Red' Countess. In the 1920s she would offer both of her homes Easton Lodge and Warwick Castle to the Labour Party, an idea that was termed as 'Labour's Chequers'. The documentary ends with a description of her waxwork at Warwick Castle, now in the possession of an entertainments company.
Adam Busiakiewicz and Aaron Manning are both historians of Warwick Castle. To find out more email a.busiakiewicz@live.co.uk / warwickhistorian@gmail.com

I found this very interesting I too have often wondered why daisy married Lord Warwick especially since she was independently wealthy in her own right. I’m so jealous of those who get to see these breathtaking old manors and castles.

Fascinating, and well done. But such mini-documentaries ought to come with a health warning. Pace: While this generation of inherited English wealth were indulging in fun, the MASSES were enduring dire poverty and distress. It's to her credit that she embraced Socialism, but even that, I'd guess, was a kind of pose. Trendy at that time. Ironic that she should have paraded about as that guillotined French queen. Such characters were lucky to have avoided the fate of the Romanov dynasty. Basically, they were in the right place at the right time. Daresay she was a nice woman. But one who had no qualms about opening her legs for a Prince of Wales. Such was their morality - or, rather, lack of it.
