DakhaBrakha live at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts 

DakhaBrakha is always welcome in Seattle, Washington!

Really surprised by the muted audience reaction to this superb, virtuoso performance. I’m guessing most of them had never heard the like of it before. You can always judge the character of a nation by the power of its folk music. The message: don’t mess with this nation.

Here in the west there is so much canned music, so much done according to formula without life. This group creates what music is supposed to make you feel.

At first I was like “What the hell?”, & then I was like “What the hell have I been doing with my life when I could’ve been listening to this the entire time!”...

Why am I so drawn to this group ? Why do I need to play their music everyday ? Why do I always get emotional while listening ? Why did I not hear of them before last week ?

Just exquisite. Exceptional. Outstanding. Pure.

Very occasionally you come across a group of genius musos; Fairport Convention in the late 1960s come to mind. Their genius though creates tension that drives them apart making that magic time they are together quite poignant-it’s too fleeting. DakhaBrakha though seem to have found a magic potion that keeps them together. This is the third day of listening to them and I don’t want it to stop!

There's something about a beautiful Ukrainian woman in a tall woolly hat wailing away on a drum while singing microtonal drones that really does it for me.

The band deserves some sort of exemplary esteemed award for their talent and way of encompassing pure emotion and feeling. It’s like they take you in a journey. If I was loaded I would pay them just to play for me and anyone who wants to come somewhere beautiful and wooded with amazing acoustics.

Fantastic performance! I'm only disappointed that the audience didn't give them the thundering ovations they deserved.

It’s all astounding. I especially love Marko’s falsetto. Magical!

ancient calls with modern twists, Bulgarian Slavic wonderfully odd harmonies, depth lightened with humor, a woman who sings so deep, a man that can sing so high, 3 wedding dressed Goddesses who drum excellently & sing with such passion with Ukrainian hats to top it off! Add cello, piano, accordion & squeeze boxes, everything played with such simplicity yet the combination of layers of exotica becomes complicated dreamy but accessible true musical art. touches of rap, funk, blues add another flavor poured over traditional calls for a mate that are barely imagined in our boring poprock western souls. thank you.

I love this ensemble/ band. They are sublime, artistic, musical and much much more. They make me smile and my heart sing. I would love to see them live and talk to them.

I love this band! Their diversity is like the Amazon, as it is now. May the sounds of this band continue to be as distinct as that of the sounds of the rich biodiversity that we still have of the planet. Preservation through appreciation is the key, to all life that serves the greater good. ❤✌🙌

The music is hypnotic, the musicians are surprisingly competent, it doesn't have to go anywhere because it's already there. But it does go to places never imagined. Bonus.

All those folks at the JF Kennedy Center were in the prescence of greatness, I hope they were giving up way more than I could hear for this amazing group

You can see that they love what they are doing. Playing the music they love for an audience that is amazed at the wonderful music they are experiencing and they all have a smile on their faces as they are doing it.
