Today we visit Dale Decker and had an amazing conversation about his journey as a youtuber and over coming his drug addictions. Dales channel: @daledecker #skateboarding #daledecker #podcast
Interviewing all the skatetubers I watched as a kid dayummm, love and respect to you Lamont Holt, Dale Decker, Garret Ginner, John Hill, Chris Chann and many more. I watched y'all because you guys inspired me to skate even when i was trash and sucked at progressing. Y'all entertained me and kept my hopes up throughout the years fr thank y'all
I’ve seen you try many things over the past several years, from skits, to rapping, to reaction, to vlogging, to different pretty clever series (scooter kids, skateboarders doing video game tricks) etc. but out of all, this might be the one fam 🙏
As a skater, I know that though we hang with the homies at the park a lot, but rarely does deep real talk happen. We are usually there to get away from the stress of life and unwind. So I find this refreshing.
Dale, I’m a skateboarder that’s been clean for several years as well of drugs and alcohol. Been watching you since John started filming with you the summer before you even made your channel yet. I remember you announcing your channel & remember your first video as well. I think it’s important people (especially kids) know that you don’t need to drink and get high to have fun or be cool.. nowadays drugs is the last thing on my mind. I prefer to be on point and sharp.. not all sloppy and half awake. I genuinely thought if I got sober my life would be boring as fuck. Furthest thing from the truth. I can still have dreadlocks and make music and skateboard and do my thing without getting high.. idk why I figured getting sober meant I had to be come corny dude now that’s life is boring.
Another good one! The last couple killed it, getting better and better… might be my favorite skate pod yet. Been watching since geez, 7 years, this is a good lane for you for sure!
Its so interesting to finally hear dale talk about his like voyeuristic philosophy for skate videos, thats what made his my favorite skate channel to this day fr.
Damn, after watching YT skaters for years and years, never knew Dale D was so well spoken, he seems like a really smart guy. Him and Lamont have great chemistry. Should consider him as a co-host.
These podcasts been fire. Been amazing to watch all the dudes I grew up looking up to. Props to Dale on his sobriety journey! Shits hella motivational especially for me being 22. All anyone ever wanna do is drink and smoke and do nothin then act like they cool. Mfs my age be hella corny n lazy. 111 yo keep this fire up
I love this podcast. Please keep doing it because i promise you its gonna be big af.. I cant get enough.. Awesome to see Dale on here.. .. Your doing an awesome job of getting people we really dont get to hear personal stuff from. Your questions are great too and i had to edit this comment so i could let you know that. I just wanted to give you your props 👊
Shout out both you guys big loves I love you content and have been supporting for years on my old channel keep up the podcast and do a game of skate! ❤
Bro this is so wild to me. I stopped watching skate content around the time Dale started appearing in John's videos (he was not the reason lmao). Since then I haven't been into skateboarding as much, but now I get to see what everyone's been up to thanks to these podcasts. Never stop dude, this is amazing and it seems like I'm not the only one who feels like this. Shit makes me nostalgic like hearing from old friends after years 🥹
Dude Dan went from rags to riches that is the purest most amazing skate story of all time, and he only can go up from there, he literally knows some of the best skaters in the WORLD. I can't believe it
Theres def a disconnect from core companies to youtubers but to me its all skateboarding. I just love it, been skating since 96. Recently started messing w bmx tho because the weather sucks in Buffalo NY, both are rad.
Having a true 9-5 will eventually give you peace. I'm 36, still skate a lot. Have been a cook for 15 yrs of my life. Same spot. You find peace eventually or you gone. A few bad things went down but it is what it is.
YOOOOOOOOOOO i cant wait for this video, so many great listens on this podcast, you should get dan corrigan or maybe matthew wilcox. Love the videos, keep them coming man
i feel like lamont asks the right questions but when they really start to get into it he kinda changes the subject when it starts getting juicy idk if thats just what you can and cant say about the industry or if hes trying to just keep the podcast moving on track either way still love these just some things ive noticed!
1:01 Tim O'Connor!! he was the first one to start a skate podcast and he would kill it on RU-vid!! Also Bobby Puleo's RU-vid is kinda small but its REALLY good, I just wish he would upload more.
Yo it’s crazy how much drama RU-vidrs have gone through over the last decade. I haven’t even been on here and missed it. Idk I guess anything can be rough it just depends. Like for me being a RU-vidr is way better than video clients. Yeah genx lead the way on the internet for sure. 👍
I don’t know why the fuck I’ve been watching these things cuz I actually can’t stand RU-vid skater shit but im into this podcast. I find everything about all of this shit cringe as hell but enjoy seeing this side of it. Shoutout to Michigan tho. I live out west now and miss it and the people all the time. Those few months of skating you get out there are more dope than the whole year of skating I get now and the people are waaay cooler and more humble than either of the coasts. I’ve done time on both coasts and lived all over.
Great podcasts bro, I stopped watching RU-vid a few years back Recently rediscovered Garret, Luis, yourself & Dale Glad to see you all doing sweet Greetings from Oz🦘🇦🇺
It seems to be a common theme amongst vloggers going through depression , anxiety, stress etc due to the viewers comments. It always seems to be the people who don’t have much going on on in their lives that are the most hateful.
I promise everyone that doing what you are passionate about for a living is a lot better than doing a job that you don't love. Yes, it will be tough at times for your "passion" to be your job, but.. waking up and loving what you do for a job is a much different feeling that waking up and having to go to a job, regardless of how much money you make doing it, that you don't enjoy or love.
Yo what y'all were talking about how people think you fall off because they're not cueing into your post it's because no one turns on their notifications
Great ep! If I had to pick a pro who I think would be a good youtuber, It'd be Luan Olivera. He gives John Hill vibes, plus he's just disgustingly good at skating.
Funny to talk about 9-5 like McDonald’s is the only job. Labor unions easily make 6 figures in the Midwest with benefits paid. Dale nailed it with doing what you love. I killed my passion doing it and then realized 10 years later my unhappiness was caused by me killing my passion doing it for work.
It’s true man, we all have to work and I’ve realized there’s nothing wrong with a 9-5. The simple life is so underrated. Working class people are the back bone and I find myself spending a lot more time and relating to that more. You can hate what you do all day everyday but changing your career isn’t gonna solve all your problems. You still have to live with yourself.
