Being that SR is gone but never forgotten RIP SR... There's no two better people in this sport to have on an interview than Mikey and JR. You two guys are legends in my world. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do.
Michael and Dale Jr truly are just really really good men! People just don't get any better than these two guys, and its clear why Dale Sr liked Mikey so much!
It’s clear that Jr has his dads tenacity as a racer but what makes Dale Jr different than his dad as a person is the willingness and ability to speak the truth about his feelings. He is so reassuring and comforting and seems to have a certain peace about losing his dad that he imparts on others. I appreciate this so much.
I have grew up with nascar in my blood, raised at North Carolina Motor Speedway. Actually old enough to have met Mr. LG DeWitt, my gpa worked for over 40 years for the DeWitts, was on a Winston Cup Champion team from 1973! Anyway seeing the guys and hearing about things that they were up to when I was working at the track brings tears to a grateful guy here! I am a Motorsports freak and love all racing, can’t wait to see them back at the track! Great show Mikey you and Dale move us as fans and give all of us I’m sure that laugh we need or tear that needs to be released! Thanks guys
My son used to irace many years ago! One day he told me he was racing against Jr and told me that there was a new guy that someday we would hear about him, and that was Denny Hamlin! Small world!
My favorite Jr interview to date. It doesn't get better than relaxed conversation between two honest to goodness retired racers talking about life. Loved it.
Dale is right, you do have emotions about Sr's passing. Remember the happy, funny time's not the sad times. Be strong in mind and soul. One happy Australian fan. And I do enjoy these stories about Sr.👍
What an incredible podcast. This is just a open conversation between two friends. Thank you both for sharing this, it means so much to all of us Earnhardt/Waltrip fans, and NASCAR fans in general. 🙏🙏
I'm so glad that you were forced to be a normal guy before your success! Makes you relatable and you grew up as Nascars Son, so you can always influence the sport.
I could just watch these 2, Richard, Kenny Schrader, DW, Larry Mac, & those closest to them all day. Would Really love like a series of just Dale Tales.
Michael, This was a fantastic hour of conversation with Dale Jr! So many great messages here: From humble beginnings to the pinnacle for the both of you, and to be able to listen to your conversation in an unassuming, down to earth moment was special for me. I hope your movie and the feedback you have received from it, and this conversation with Dale Jr. brings so positive closure for you. Piece, my friend.
Such an touching show!!! So glad to be able catch such an honest and open view from the inside of a very difficult subject! My heart goes out to both of you gentlemen. Bless you both for your strength and honor of what Dale meant to you both.
Micheal Waltrip deserves a lot of credit too! The grieving process is very difficult and affects others so differently and at a wide variety of intensities! The loss of Dale was tragic, but it has been a trauma for Micheal. I pray for all closely related to that February day, but especially to Micheal for he relives that day daily. I pray for you Micheal and it is my fervent prayer that you can try to release those memories that haunt you and embrace peace and comfort.
I was at Talladega Win #2 and Mikey finished 2nd. Then saw him win the 2002 Pepsi 400 and got an autographed NAPA Flag car at his hauler. My first race was the 2001 Pepsi 400. Those were the days.
Great show! Gain more respect for Dale Jr every time I hear him talk - he has a great perspective on life and he's certainly a chip off the Earnhardt block. Also much respect for Michael Waltrip and his willingness to share how Dale Sr influenced him and how his passing still affects him to this day. If you haven't seen In the Blink of An Eye you should because it is very good!
My fav interview with Dale Jr. The reason Dale Jr. Had a dafeatest attitude towards his late model race n sat n drowned his sorrow's in a bottle is he was never taught confidence by his father as a child or how to handle losing. No wonder he needed therapy as a adult. Right there with you . I'm sure you will be able to be a much better parent n father.
Mikeys in a tough place and he has been for a long time. I really hope he has someone to talk to. I worry about the place he seems to be stuck in. Best wishes Mikey.
That was a great chat mikey you have a great sole an my friend keep your head up because the good lord is in your heart great job an keep them coming ♥️🙏👍🥰
Hey Michael! Hey Junior! Watchin from an apartment in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We’re hangin in there, but you’re right. It’s tough to be kinda cooped up, but my fiancé and i as well as our dog are hangin in there. Hopefully Amy will be alright. Walks are essential i know that! Always fun watchin Waltrip Unflitered. See ya on iRacing!
So sad a one hour talk with his dad was the only ‘Dad’ moment from Sr. Shows the dark side of that man. The clip of him trying to get his dads attention in victory lane as a boy spoke volumes too imo.
He was talking about meeting people through iRacing a long time ago, but I think that he met some of the people he was talking about through the Papyrus sims, since iRacing is definitely less than 20 years old.
As a cowboy's fan I hate that my favorite NASCAR driver is a Redskins fan. That being said I've met Joe Gibbs several times and there's not a Better class act then Joe. So that softens it, but only just a bit lol.
This came up in a comment from another video I watched, but when Dale Sr. was racing, if you were a fan or not, you come in late to watch the race or you pull up beside somebody and the race is on, you go' who's winning? If they said something like, waltrip,or Davey Allison, etc. ,,,Then you would ask, where's Earnhardt? Everyone did it at some point. Others did it everytime. Well he's always in Victory Lane Now. 3 wise men,3 wooden cross' 3 days to resurrection, John 3:16, dale sr. 3.,,me🤔, Dale Earnhardt 🏁😉.
Oh so sad, I love you guys, I’ve hung out with you JR, when I lived in Mooresville and worked in the truck series. It’s so sad to go back and watch this and listen to y’all talk about the lockdown. Such lies! They destroyed our country and so many lives!! So much propaganda!! Glad y’all are safe, I wish none of this had ever been done to us all!
NASCAR would be a different sport if Dale Earnhardt was alive. Kelley would be a the helm of DEI and Dale would have been a championship driver. Stages and Chase format? No way. He would have put an end to it before it began. Best NASCAR podcast yet. I just noticed; even the Rubik's cube is turned to dratted Redskins colors.
I don't understand something about I racing . Question: Do you have to race in cockpit view ? Im curious because I race on ps4 Nascar Heat 3 at times and I have to have a full car view . The reason i have to have this view is i need to know what my rear end is doing . Ive never raced anything real but I could imagine in true life you would " feel " what your rear is doing and know how to make automatic decisions to keep the car from getting out from under you . I have to see cars rear to make those slight adjustments while slinging around the track . Plus with the poor AI spotter seeing my rear allows me to clear somebody more cleanly. I totally admit im a consol player and heat 3 or 4 can't nowhere be as accurate as the I racing .............but not being able to feel them back wheels has got to be a challenge.
Would have put the right air pressure in their tires they would not have had all them blow out Reddit didn't have no problem Blaney didn't have no problem
And thats ok, Your my dad they were raised in a time before men and fathers had become feminized . Its not a good thing to be buddy buddy with your children , to me thats not relationship your looking for ,
