As an Arsenal fan I have to say Kenny has a heart of gold. He went to every Hillsborough funeral, has backed them the whole way and even told the Sun to fuck off when they asked him how to make the relations between them and Liverpool better. He fully deserves his knighthood and I've always admired the guy. A brilliant ambassador for football.
For me Kenny is exactly what a good football man should be. No nonsense, take him as you find him, loves to win but believes in fair play and respect. I love watching the videos of his goals. There were no ego based celebrations, just pure childlike joy.
"Each one (disaster), is as equally important to the families involved". Truly a great and wise man, my hero as a boy, my hero as a middle aged man, God bless you Kenny.
What have we become as a Nation? I'm a United fan and to revel in the death of any tragedy is disgusting. I couldn't stand Liverpool fans back in the day singing about Munich but I couldn't bring myself wishing death on them all. People died in a horrible Manner Ive been crushed and passed out at the same ground watching United. I hope the families find some kind of peace. YNWA the 96. RIP The Busby Babes! xx
Well said mate its usually the ignorant nobody's who do all this shit. They probably dont even know that Busby is a part of Liverpools history so that disgusting song about Munich is just cringeworthy. But unfortunately both our clubs have the uneducated street rats who haven't got the brains to understand these things.
Well said Bert. Wise words. I'm a Saints fan, at school back in 1989, and my heart breaks at the the shocking waste of young lives and talent at Munich and Hillsborough. No-one should have died on those saddest of days. Kudos also to LFCOLDSCHOOL. I love the atmosphere of match days, such things should never lead to tragedy. Sadly there's no law against stupidity, so we'll ALWAYS have w*nkstains posting filth about the deceased, their innocence, and the justice they deserve. All the best to you both. x
While we might support different teams, at end of the day we are still people ( well most of us are ), and anyone that takes pleasure in the death of innocent people should be locked up. Their should always be respect, and tyvm for your kind words. JFT96. RIP TBB
Daglish isn't reading from a preprepared statement here, this is all straight from the heart. How dare this judge speak about the victims of this awful negligence as if they are nothing more than a statistic!
He was always known for not being media friendly, short, dry, monosyllabic and unwelcoming. But I love the man. If you want tough honesty no better person
@@DannyBoi2112 I read that Kenny Dalglish attended four funerals in one day! I'm not a Liverpool FC fan but respect to Kenny for doing that he's a great example of a decent human being and I massively respect the people of Liverpool and the Merseyside area for their dignified behaviour over the years despite that horrible smear campaign against them they 100% proved it wrong by staying dignified and strong willed in the face of Hillsborough and their fight for justice in the years after it.
Sir King Kenny Dalglish - no less. Kenny's conduct up until and including this moment regarding the victims and the families of the Hillsborough disaster should never be understated. A truly exceptional person.
Because there's no comparable is it.. Each one is equally as important to the people that's been involved in it as the other.. Fucking brilliant, what a great man.. Thats why he is & always will be the King..
Grew up a spurs fan but always loved Kenny. His boots were first I had. One of those players who you don’t see in many top 10 lists but he was class on and off pitch.
King Kenny, what an all round nice humble human being. Being a CELTIC fan I can remember the day that myself and older brother Joe cried when we learned that the King was leaving Parkhead for Anfield!!! Happy days indeed, when we all dreamed of following in King Kenny's foot steps(BRILLIANT) Life seemed so easy n laid back!!! WURZO1968✌ ☝💚=⚽ R.I.P. THE 96, GOD BLESS THEM ALL IN HEAVEN🙏 🙏
I'm a United fan, but if Ferguson has been given a knighthood for what he achieved on the field, then Dalglish deserves one for his efforts on behalf of the Hillsborough families.
Hillsborough families have the respect of so many fans of other clubs, Disgusting cover up by those we trust to do their jobs properly. A shameful, dark episode in English History, May all victims concerned have peace brought about by justice and brave families.
You are an idiot then. I've seen the police do stupid and reckless things so many times - they joined because that was where their mediocrity was best rewarded. They measure brawn and not brains.
Sorry but your title is misleading. Kenny is a class guy who lived through the Hillsborough disaster. He's response was also very classy and to the point. Footballers today should look at these legends as examples to aspire to. From a United fan.
Kenny, as a player you were my all time sporting idol. In the years of your retirement you have become an even greater role model to not just me, and my generation, but to many other generations that have followed. god bless you pal!!
Top Guy and probably the best player to not have won a Balon D’or. He was immense. And He clearly still is… NB May even have been better than some of those who received it.
What Kenny did for the city of Liverpool and the club during that time was more akin to what the leader of a nation or a region does. A great man with a lot of empathy and a bucket load of humanity.
I don’t understand how the families have kept their cool over the years fighting for justice if it was my son my dad my brother my daughter anyone I don’t think I’d be able to go through that credit to them all south Yorkshire police hang your heads in shame and the sun newspaper watched a lot of videos and I can’t believe how they even had the cheek to cover it up with lies. I will never forget the 96 RIP
Well said pal south yorks police are a shitty brown stain on the great Kingdom of Yorkshire n I fucking hate the scum newspaper as much as I hate utd..
A legend at LFC and one who should have been allowed to build on his first trophy in his second stint at LFC. How on earth the joke that was Rodgers blagged his way in....especially at the cost of this man. A terrific man with a moral compass. No questions over his financial conduct, no conflicts of interest with the club or its owners (Rock of Gibralter farce brought in the Glazers) in fact it's impossible to imagine Dalglish ever being the cause of clubs (ideal) owners walking away...That's worth something to me. It's also hard when you realise how Hillborough prevented a long, long stint in charge of the club. A tragedy for all concerned, victims, families, survivors, players and the officials who tried to help (young pc's in their 20's struggled during and after whilst his superiors-the ones culpable-only notable actions seem to be escaping any blame or censure at any cost). The truth is now out but the unpalatable truth is far too many choose to believe the old lies and myths. A depressing number.
from a Manchester united fan, justice for the 96, them poor FOOTBALL FANS who did not come home ,we will never forget that day . to all the scum saying sick words about Hillsborough burn in hell sickos , I was at a football game that week yes man utd . god bless the 96
Yes, Dalglish is ok, straight up bloke, all the lies and pure crap those families went through, all the cover ups, the evil shite the sun printed, justice, peace and love for those poor innocents. Man U , Salford
There is of course good reason why popplewell wants the families to "move on". That reason is that the police were directly responsible for what happened at hillsborough and people rightly want to see them properly held to account for it. Being a member of the establishment popplewell doesnt want to see policemen behind bars where they should obviously be.
So...the hundreds of scousers who turned up WITHOUT tickets, trying to get inside the ground...and forced the Police into making a split decision....had nothing to do with it no? Hmm....interesting thought....
maviarab So what if fans turned up without tickets?.. u knob..Im a united fan and iv turned up at games plenty of times trying to get tickets on the day from touts. What never happens is they just let you walk in for fuck all. They opened the doors on the outside for anyone to walk in but refused to open the gates pitchside when it mattered. Then lied to cover their fuck up...R.I.P. 96
I visited the inquest in Sheffield but more importantly spoke to a friend who was there for most of the hearings. Mr Justice Popplewell appeared very kind to the bereaved and / or witnesses who were distraught as they gave their evidence. He said 'we can have a break' 'have a sip of water.' But every legal request from the police barrister was acceded to and every legal point / request from the supporters lawyers was denied. It even got to the stage where the police barrister looked embarrassed in what he was getting away with … especially the arbitrary cut off point in which he refused to look at evidence beyond that time.
THE KEY WORDS IN THIS EXCELLENT DALGLISH INTERVIEW...WERE SPOKEN BY THE FEMALE INTERVIEWER WHEN SHE UTTERED...'I'M NOT ALLOWED TO SAY.' THE MIS-NAMED 'UK' HAS INDEED BECOME A PRISON...WHERE FREE SPEECH...IS NO MORE. WELL DONE DALGLISH...YOU WERE VERY GOOD AND SHOWED YOUR TRUE COLOURS HERE.
This Government has to do what is right. Put things right by what the Thatcher brigade got wrong. For the love of God. Its a disgrace to these people still suffering. 96!! Dead. At a football game. The Tories loath the north.
I grew up watching KD playing for celticand i loved him. watched him play for liverpol and loved him even more, but this goes way beyond. what he has done, and his wife Marina, to support the 96 families, the people of liverpool and ultimately the people of britain has been immense. a true mensch
The senior police officers were to blame, but also the stadium, just out dated and not fit for purpose. Also to blame were the football trouble makers from previous years, the reason the fences went up. I am so glad that the families are finally getting what they wanted, justice. Its so sad, they just went to see their team.Never to return home. RIP the 96
Hillsborough was an equation: Police. FA, Sheffield Wednesday, fans and football hooligans generally. The people grieving want someone in jail. Why not jail someone from all those parties then? Liverpool is a tough place but their local media has more whitewash than the army. I want one person to simply say "if I was in charge of Hillsborough nobody would have got hurt." Any takers?
This is one of the most reasonable comments on the whole thing I have seen. The fences were the final cause for the deaths and there was a reason they went up. Not to take any blame off the policing, but one should not forget that previous hooliganism also played a role in the tragedy.
Anyone who attended football matches in this era knows that people(yes fans are people of all ages, mum's,dad's,grandad, grandma's etc) were treated like cattle.,penned and humiliated. All in the name of controlling some out of control teens high on testosterone.Anyone who was crushed against a fence, batoned, charged by horses and intimidated with dogs knew the constabulary were applying control in an indiscriminate way.Hillsborough just exposed them as cowards, and arrogant to the common man.KD is a proper guy, standing up for those who had no voice.Don:t even dare to suggest scoucers wallow in self pity. They have been brave and supportive of each other throughout. The Sun are a disgrace.
Reporters these days dont want to know or print about the truth 96 liverpool supporters who died .print the truth and do your jobs properly, gain respect and be honest.
Liverpool do seem to attract managers who are more than just coaches, but decent men....Shankly, Paisley, Dalgliesh, Benitez, Rodgers, Klopp...it’s not just a coincidence. Everton fan in peace, respect where it’s due. (Sorry about Van Dijk - I’d suggest banning Pickford for as long as he’s injured, but let’s face it, that would just help us)
Kenny also stood by Louis Suarez when he was wrongly accused of racism. As opposed to Carragher who criticised Lfc for standing by him. “Not many like Kenny” would be my slogan.
Carragher was never fit to tie Kenny's shoelaces. Kenny is Scottish to the core but he is also far more of a Liverpool man and a human being than Carragher could ever hope to be.
