Why should you read the poem? If you are interested in stream of consciousness technique, high symbolism and enriched metaphor and imagery then the poem can give you the right flavour.
The poem is strange one. The disturbed mind of the poet is clearly visible in the poem. The analysis of this poem in this video is a smaller attempt to understand the poet's critical and supposedly delirious state. The poem apparently points out the basic incoherence, however, after deeper thought anyone can guess the perturbation that the poet faced during the insurgency. Thangjam Ibopishak Singh is among the leading and most popular poets of the Northeast of India. Based in Imphal, he writes in Manipuri, the language of the indigenous Meitei Community. The imagery like old 'one rupee note', 'kgs of poems', 'tight-lipped man' etc. focus the poet's inner conscience. The poem comprises of multiple symbols and metaphors. these indicate the artistry of the poet. The poem is a free verse poem that is written by using the stream-of-consciousness technique. Moreover, there is a dream-like structure in this text that absurdly shifts from one image to another without any coherence. Whatsoever, there are a total of five sections in the poem. Each section contains two stanzas except for the second section that contains only one stanza. The line-lengths as well as the syllable count of the poem are irregular. There isn’t any specific rhythm in the poem.

' Close their eyes ' → we close our eyes to avoid something which is a self centred nature. Here the poet mocks that religious people . They keep their eye shut to avoid the harsh reality . ' inside a lockup ' means stick on a small circle like the selfish people. ' Horoscope' →It may be the forecast of the old grandfather about his future . ' Radio'→ the words of his mother.

An egg.. move lazily - I think here the egg represent those concepts which are placed / put in the mind of a little girl by her own kind ( her mother, elder sister, grandmother) , and when she grows up then those ideas will become a part of her life, but unfortunately those concepts will stop her, hold her in every step, she will fail to resist them and they will take the chances from her to lead a life happily..

' Passing wind ' → metaphorically it may be a push. This push can make the revolution. These leaves are the spirituality less rotten people. The poet wants to be that push by raising his voice against the corruption.

Here in the poem, the poet appears a chain of images in the mind. The poet uses the stream of consciousness technique to reflect his disturbed mind.

One day, wanting... That I like peepal trees? I think here the poet want to express that the people of North eastern states of India like to lead a simple life in middle of the greenery ( raw nature) , but the interference of military, demonstration damaged their simplicity, peace and culture so the poet want everyone should protest for their own rights, for their safety, for their motherland (I would like to see every citizen.. a small peepal tree) . His own family members were also a part of this movement, must be he lost someone due the situation. Which became the cause of his hate towards peepal tree (reference of his own life) ..

Sir what does dali and Hussain signify in the poems title?
@text4sure
@text4sure 8 месяцев назад
Dali and Hussain are probably two legendary artists: Salvador Dali, the renowned Spanish surrealist painter, and M.F. Husain, a celebrated Indian painter. Ibopishak probably used their names metaphorically to represent the contrast between the dreamlike, surrealistic world depicted by Dali and the vivid, colorful imagery of Husain's paintings.

' Peepal tree '→ According to hindu mythology goddess lakshmi and lord vishnu reside in the Peepal tree. It brings wealth, peace , happiness and good luck. Because of this the poet wants this tree. ' growing on his head ' → The port wants that all the citizens of manipur get this opportunities and can cut off their miseries.

' Kgs of poems' → Here the poet is mocking the society. We can't measure poems in Kg but those illiterate people can. For them the poems are objects like their paddy. Kgs of poems = amount of torn up papers weight. ' Written and then torn up '→I think the poet is expressing his own situation. He might be trying to write something romantic but for the mental disturbance he couldn't it. He was not satisfied by those writings so he torn them up like Rabindranath Tagore .

Ten bottle of rum... a bunch of key in its beak.. - I think here the poet want to show the hollowness of us in an innovative way.. If we carefully look at shiv-ling it contains both male and female reproductive organs , which represent the importance of both genders for a creation ( new life), equality of men and women( Shiva is also incomplete without shakti / Parvati) , the balance in nature..Religion tries to teach us these positive concepts in various intellectual ways .. But we actually don't think about this.. We worship it, respect it , but unfortunately don't follow the ideas... We, the hollow men disrespect the other half of our society ( women), we treat them as an object, the rum ( illiteracy, lack of true education ) is fading our senses .. Our religious leaders ( mostly men) changes the concepts according to the circumstances for their own benefit , only for men, not for women ..We are locked in a case, we always blame our culture, religion , we overlook our own flaws but never try to understand the truth, never try to find a way out by ourselves ( catching the bird which is carrying the keys) .
