Pollard is good for out routes, edge runs, quick dump off and releases. If we saw anything with Dowdle this last weekend though, it's that he runs hard, they just might have found their bruiser back in him. He definitely needs more touches, atleast 5-10 a game, they could be lethal if they incorporate a two back system with them

Doodle needs to be the primary back with Pollard being the relief back like he was with Zeke. It doesn't make sense to keep running Pollard up the middle for little or no yards.

Most of Pollard's carries have been inside zone out of shotgun which makes no sense. He's rarely getting the chance to run downhill like Dowdle did in these clips. I don't mind seeing more of Dowdle but let Pollard run downhill and for Godsakes get him on the perimeter.

The split should be Rico around 15 to 20 carries with Pollard getting between around 12 carries.

Rico reminds me of Demarco Murray. Yes they should use the personnel they have. Let Rico give them some physical game before you hit them with Pollard.

Why ppl acting like Tony pollard is getting hella Carries his last 6 games is 11,8,15,12,12,15 hell the whole backfield need more carries lol most games been blowouts and our run blocking needs to keep improving. Also alot of games has been the passing offense getting chunk yards hell Ceedee and Dak been taking over whole drives. I agree w/ everybody Tony pollard flaw is power inside runs cause of his build doesn’t bounce off any tacklers naturally but he runs hard and is very effective w/ ball in his hands overall run and pass. Dowdle can use some more of those inside runs but it just hasn’t been a lot Carries in general to go around

Plus people forget hes coming off a broken leg. I think they should've eased him back a little and use #40 for inside runs as well

That's the point tho Pollard is getting the carries, but not getting enough production... If more production I'm sure they would give more attempts. Rico is more efficient, but they're not rewarding him with more attempts

The bigger problem has been run blocking, line is not sorry but run block hasn’t been real good starting season for whatever reason. ofcourse fans don’t pay attention to run blocking, it’s not his fault he’s getting smacked in the backfield half the time. If dowdle get feature role and look not as good as he was w/ a lesser role then fans will turn on his ass too lol

Yes they need to give the ball to Rico Dowdle so they don't burn Tony power out just like how they did with Ezekiel Elliott they need to start giving Rico more carries now then at the last minute because we need Tony Pollard to be able to be fresh once we get into the playoffs and also deep into the playoffs but another thing to they still have to use all of the other running backs as well my committee so that way they'll be able to keep everyone fresh and they'll be a less chance of any of them getting injured so do you have to use those running backs just like how the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers used all of there's.

The problem is, Pollard is not pre injury Pollard right now. Dowdle has been more productive when he gets his chance. Pollard is a good RB that has never been the featured back. But after his injury, he doesn't have that extra burst. Dowdle has that and needs more touches, until we see if Pollard still has it. Right now, I think Pollard's broken leg has slowed him down a half a step or more, whether it's physical or mental, it's there. It's time to keep him off the field and see what Dowdle can do, because right now with Pollard as feature back, our run game sucks, at least late when we need to run out the clock. We can't do that currently.. Part of that is the O-line and part is McCarthys blind stubbornness to run up the middle. Pollard was not a punishing run up the middle back before his injury and sure isn't now. Pollard did well in relief of Zeke, because he could explode through holes, that's not happening this year. Like I said, it's either physical or mental, only time will clarify this 11:00

Yes that's also a way they can use both of the running backs as well by having them both on the football field because it can confuse the defense that they going up against.

Dowdle & Lupeke should get the bulk of the early game carries. When defenses are worn down and our offensive line is in rhythm, bring in pollard for the long runs. In the red zone or short yard situations it should always be Dowdle or Lupke.

Great video and analysis. Rico needs at least 15 touches a game and utilize Pollard more as WR then RB. He’s obviously not at full speed like he was before the injury. His injury was a devastating one. I don’t think he will be with Dallas next year but let’s use him correctly and feed Rico….

biggest issue for the offense this season has been redzone/goalline and short yardage... hmm why is that? OH ZEKE IS GONE and so is SHULTZ , for all those who said shultz was over rated/paid etc No he isnt Travis Kelce , or other top end elite TEs but he is right there just below them and on 3rd downs and red zone was where he made his biggest impact where a TE typically does. Another thing is there is no threat over the middle from the Cowboys in the passing game is partly why CEEDEE has been used so much in the slot ( he is great from the slot ) is cuz Gallop isnt going over the mid, Cooks isnt... Fergusson has been improving maybe he can make a bigger impact but yea... miss the threat over the mid . I agree Zekes contract was the death of him , but he was a beast in short yardage and goalline. I truly wanted the cowboys to cut Zeke and also let Pollard walk and not give him the tag and get a RB in this past draft. i believe if Gibbs was still there late in the draft the cowboys were going to draft him over Mazi.

Overall our o line needs to block better, I think they’re getting there. Rico has been great, a lot of people jumping off the TP bandwagon in these comments shame on y’all he will pop off here soon.

I’ve been saying Rico needs to get the early down carries because he runs harder and runs through contact. It’s okay if Pollard gets the 3rd down touches or they can split their touches better. But they gotta run more to control that clock.

I always liked Davis more than Rico but the coaches did not. Regardless, whomever your backs are you feed the guy with the 'hot hand' to use a basketball analogy. That was pollard last year but of course Zeke took carries simply because he was making more money. Which is stupid. This year Pollard is making the money so he gets the majority of carries. Which is once again stupid. Feed the guy who is producing in any given ballgame. One week it might be Rico, the next pollard. Hell, might even be Luepke if you would ever give him the ball. :)

It's infuriating to watch McCarthy underutilize the talent we have. He finally listened to everyone telling him to use Cooks more, and look what happened! Dude went nuclear. Now he just needs to get his head out of his ass and stop playing Pollard like a power back just cause he has a bigger paycheck. Our run game is really our main weak area at this point, and he refuses to do anything to change it.

Dowdle looks great. I think Pollard will get back to himself, but hes gotta get healthy first. Hes not 100% and its extremely clear to see. Coming off a broken leg, a guy who relies on explosiveness and quick cuts is gonna take a while to get back to where he was prior to the injury. I think ultimately, this is his last year in Dallas. I think they let him walk and draft a replacement. He probably won't be back to 100% until this off-season or early next season.

Dowdle has had an injury every year since he was a freshman in college. They're using him sparingly because 12 touches is infinitely more than zero.

Pollard is running the ball because thwart are lying him 10 Million dollars! That is why Pollard is the bell cow.. Rico should be getting more snaps going forward. BTW Pollard is not the same Running back that he was from last year... part of the reason is the O line and his past injury and a fat check.....:)

Considering that Pollard is highly unlikely to return next season, I see no good reason to *not* see what Dowdle has and to just let TP play to his strengths. Ideally I'd love to see Dallas draft a power guy next year and find a way to keep Pollard around.

ZEKE COULD HAVE STILL BEEN USED IN PASSING THEY NEVER TRIED IT AND DAK WAS ALWAYS LATE TO ZEKE OUT THE BACKFIELD I DONT BELIEVE THEY WILL USE RICO HOW THEY SHOULD BECAUSE THE FRONT OFFICE MAKES CALLS ON WHO SHOULD GET THE BALL MORE. That's a big problem with guys like McCarthy. He can't see the light. Dowdle is a better back bigger and more explosive. How about playing him because he earned it? Seems like a HS Coach playing his favorites. He should get 10 plus and more than Pollard.

This is what i figured, they will stick with Pollard no matter what and thats a mistake!! They didnt learn anything with Zeke, and thats on the Jones'!! You go with the hottest player in order to have the best team on the field, and right now thats Dowdle not Pollard. But they are going to stubbornly stick with Tony.

The only way Rico does anything special will be a tribute to the Offensive line. Stop trying to sell us a lemon and he damn sure is not a back that is going to lead the league in yards after contact. I would rather see Duce get some real touches or even Nathaniel Peat over Rico. He had his chance last year and didn't do Jack squat. Take away his 18 carries for 103 yards in 2 Giant games that would make him 71 for 258 yards on 3.6 per carry. And the man always getting hurt.

Just alternate that's exactly what you did with Ezekiel Elliott that's why Tony pollard got his start. One. , 2. punch. You don't throw to the same receiver every time be a coach alternate.
