O Line n D Line been needing a true rebuild since Frederick retired. Jerry likes to replace the broken fence one board at a time vs. rebuilding the fence. The result is average at best mediocre at worst. Need to make huge risky moves instead of banking on a regular number of draft picks.
Facts and it was a head scratching use of the 2nd rounder when we have Ferg. A 2nd round pick at TE you expect to be a player. Shoon looks like he is a undrafted FA.
Emmitt Smith is the NFL all time leader in rushing with this same franchise. With this current scheme, coaches and personnel he wouldn't fare much better. Derek Henry would NOT be effective here with this coaching. Jimmy Johnson freely used a FB as Emmitt's personal valet to the line of scrimmage, Daryl Johnston. Many of these plays with DLs crashing the line or LBs and Safeties shooting through gaps unmolested would be reduced when they have to crash through one more road block directly in their path to a RB guarded by the FB. All these additional TEs positioned AWAY from the hole are useless most of the time. The 49ers, Lions still make frequent use of the FB. The Cowboys don't use it nearly enough, just a few times. Have a blocker close to the runner instead of spreading people out when they have no ability to block, or not in leverage to block. Even if ALL the OL whipped their own man a safety or LB could shoot in and nail the back, but if that safety had to contend with a FB FIRST the RB has a reasonable chance to make some ground. These NFL formations aren't for ALL teams, regardless of trends. Trends mean nothing if you don't have the personnel or understanding coaches to make them work. Yes, I'd rather use the FB more times than not instead of wasting a position on more useless blockers because everybody in the NFL is doing it, and it is too old fashion.
Thanks for this bro. It's SO hard to explain this to people.. or hearing the analyst the next morning say .. we can't run.. our RUN plays.. look like run plays.. Dak is rarely under center so when he is.. its a run.. I'm sure they saw that in him study.. we need to eliminate runs from shotgun too.. at this point we need to be a passing offense and throw the run in at times similar to Peyton and his colts offense. We just don't create running lanes.. even Henry would have a hard time.

It just looks like there is no game plan for running the ball, no effort in running the ball, no will in running the ball, and definitely no heart when running the ball. I didn't understand why Zeke had more runs than Rico in the first half when Rico had the best game of the season for any RB on the damn team. I'm all for firing McCarthy, the effort from the players is just not there. They had no fight in them it felt like that whole game, the defense did better than I thought they would in the first quarter, but the offense was just null and void. The QB has no time to throw and the WR's are hardly open, they were in a man defense, and we still had 9 tight window throws in the first half. That's a horrible scheme, meanwhile the Lions got players running open all over the field. The coaches philosophy is from the stone age and it's not working in today's NFL.
I can't understand McCarthy's total lack of Leadership, Passion, Urgency, Action, Accountability, Discipline! To me there's nothing! It's like he's totally dead inside. No Soul! @@u.n.animations522 Let me see, the NFC East is one reason. That's 5 automatic wins it feels like every year. Then there's always at least 4-5 scrubs on the schedule. So that's around 10 wins there and then there is 7 good teams where we always finish 2-5 with the last 3 years. I doubt if we win 5 NFC East games this year though. We've already lost to on of the 4-5 scrub teams in the Saints. We are already 0-2 against the good teams (Ravens and Lions). The next 5 games will probably decide our season also. None of the teams have losing records and they all can run the bull effectively enough to make you be concerned about their run game.

nice vid. thank you for taking the time to make these vids and giving me a peace of mind but the coaches should know these things and make adjustments. instead we get the same inept offense and non existent defense every week. new england when brady was qb didnt have a running game so they did alot of short passes and underneath routes with welker and edelman. this team is "SOFT". it lacks leadership, grit, fight, etc, etc. this team sucks 47-9 is inexcusable
There are too many issues with the “team” (O-Line, complex play book for the current personnel , D-Line, LB’s, tackling, etc..) that they will be lucky to win 3 more games this year. 😢
I believe we do have people in house to make ppl miss, we dont use them (Duece Vaughn and Dalvin cook) but you are absolutely right about big play ability
Agreed, Deuce has the wiggle but got benched because he wasn’t effective running up the gut on 1st down. He could easily become a screen threat and then when he’s in the package, defense has another element to think about. Almost like you can use player strengths to build an offense around instead of jamming square pegs into round holes (this goes for all our offensive players).
TP had the occasional good play, but last year our offense did best when he BARELY touched the ball. This offense is point blank PERIOD on BRIAN SHOTTENHEIMER. Receivers having the lowest separation grades in the NFL - are we arguing that guys like Brandin Cooks and Ceedee Lamb can't create separation? Ezekiel FEED ME Elliot, who is only 19 months older, and much less injured than Saquon Barkley, has zero gas in the tank? Are we under the impression that our line just hasn't had the guys to be top in the league? TP looked bad under Shottenheimer. Zeke looks bad under Shottenheimer. Dowdle's best game so far he's gotten 78 yards UNDER SHOTTENHEIMER. Deuce gets run between the tackles UNDER SHOTTENHEIMER!!!!!! Shottenheimer has been carried by our players FOR YEARS. He's so bad that we took play-calling away from him, but it doesn't change the fact that THIS IS HIS OFFENSIVE PLAYBOOK! Give me back Kellen Moore - Dak and the passing game flourished. Give me back Scott Linehan - we had top running offenses with MULTIPLE RBs with Zeke and Run DMC. Shottenheimer's best so far has been mediocre with players who have proven themselves capable of greatness. Unacceptable!
Another film that backs McCarthy getting canned. Every play that had Pollard in it should now have Duece but we see where that's headed. Bebe I can see blocking just as good as biadicz or however you spell it so imagine Bebe down field blocking for Duece like he did at Kansas. I went back and forth with folks calling Zeke washed which I think is a little out there use the guy in the passing game! I'm convinced we will see Hunter once a Qtr and Dalvin never! Got to find that right scheme and run blocking line to maximize Rico's potential if they are just going to run him up the gut! Them screens should go to Turp or Duece But oh well!
Idk if Zac Martin has been having back issues but he’s not been the same. Also im not a fan of this reach/combo block move up scheme unless the running back is coached to be looking for cutbacks. I think down block and quick pull is much more effective and creates much bigger holes and lanes to where you want to run. I think Rico is a good back but I don’t think they have a real RB Coach (which they don’t) and it looks like they are not coached to effectively find the right spaces/holes for this scheme(also a scheme like a said im not a fan of 100%) but if coached right there are holes and spaces.

They definitely need to change their running schemes, passing game coordination needs tweaks because the route combination are just to dry. Guys are never open but I'm watching the Bills and the Jets last night and I see guys who aren't much faster or better than our guys behind Lamb and they are wide open so thats a scheme problem not talent. Your QB is not going to complete over 60% of his passes against that kinda coverage and your QB is going to take alot of sacks and hold the ball long because of that issue as well. Dak has to clean up his redzone issues but I think the running game and offensive schemes can help that as well.
Martin and O Line was pushed backwards all day. Dak is not gonna make it through the season. The D line has been pushed around all year Detroits backs not even touched until 4 or 5 yards half the time. Cowboys were lucky that Gibbs with his speed didnt get 2 or 3 40 plus runs.

The thing that pisses me off the most is this has been who Mike Mccarthy has been his entire career as a coach and we hired him anyway. He couldn't coach or scheme a run game in Green Bay or Dallas nor did he want to. Why did we hire him expecting that to change? Mccarthy has always wanted to run his offense like he was a 12 year old playing Madden for the first time. He wants shotgun 5 wide every single play of the game. You can tell he's viscerally annoyed when he has to run the football. If there has ever been a beta way to coach football Mccarthy is that coach. It just goes to show you how incompetent Jerry Jones is as a GM that he would hire the man and expect something different. I swear watching a team w/ McCarthy and Dak in charge has actually made me miss Jason Garrett and Tony Romo. I never thought I'd ever say something like that, but those Romo led teams were much more physical and actually ran the rock. Both coaches underachieved by far, but Garrett's team were much more balanced and fun to watch. Plus they didn't have near the overall talent that McCarthy's teams have had. Also, I never once remember anyone clamoring to make Romo the highest paid QB in the damn league. Not one time. Honestly, I don't even remember them talking about Romo's contract. It was always just done. And he was better BY FAR than dak the dipshit.
They have a perfect back for rb screens but they don't use him he is very elusive his name is duce. Every defense knows he's getting the ball as soon as he steps on the field. Because our offense is too predictable!! Fire McCarthy!!
And truth be told, the one year we could "kinda sorta" run the ball were the year when Kellen Moore was calling plays because Moore's a former QB that understands how valuable a running game is to a quarterback. Especially Dak. We have 8+ years of statistical data that shows when dak is given a run game and asked to throw 35 times a game or less he is actually a decent QB. Once he doesn't have a run game and has to throw 35 or more times a game he becomes one of the worst QBs in the damn league. Every single analyst and fan on planet earth knows this trend and has access to these data points except apparently Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy. Go figure. Dak Prescott's TD/ INT ratio is BETTER..WAY BETTER than Troy Aikman's LOL!!! All Aikman had to do is hand off the ball to the NFL's ALL TIME LEADING RUSHER/ Aikman 165 TDS 141 INTS that's 24 TDS over INTS!!! In 12 YEARS!!! Prescott 210 TDS 80 INTS that's 30 TDS INTS. In 8 YEARS (6) Games.
I think it's safe to say that this team is finished. These kinds of losses are very damaging mentally for the players. Their confidence is getting lower. That's where a good HC could turn it around but not Mcarthy.
Yessir it's all of it we can't pass block consistently we damn sure can't run block so play action doesn't work very well and what do all really good teams do it's play action. Their press man along with their pass rush killed us. My question is it talent or technic? Yeah I know 😊 . These coaches and players have got to be better. Great vid, J Tuck! Very insightful and on the money. I only wish you had put a little more stank on the point about personnel differences. The biggest issue with the run game in my opinion is the downgrades you referenced at LT, C, RB1, AND the undeniable decline of Zach Martin. We have no stability anywhere on the offensive line mainly because the front office stupidly chose to replace Tyron & Tyler with rookies instead of with proven vets. Also because they chose to replace Pollard with over-the-hill Zeke and an oft-injured 3rd-string RB in Rico Dowdle. ALL of this team’s problems can be laid squarely on the head of our incompetent front office.
You have to pass out of 12 and 13 personel . Stop being predictable. You need to have good run game to keep defense fresh. With lack of run game due to not running they will play zone defense or play pass defense . That’s majority of why they got blown out by aints and lions to damn predictable and still not able to stop run.

Really, attitude without scheme results in much less than a good scheme with avg attitude. Coaching-scheme makes the difference in NFL Not For Long without a good well coached scheme.

The offense sucked before the bye last year too. They have good tape to self evaluate now and changes are easy to see. Not worried about the offense. The defense however is another story.
