This was a funny scene and PD and LH pulled it off... but it was a sign that it was the beginning of the end for this show, because JR's best schemes were never this stupid. It's like something Cliff Claven might try to get the Cheers gang to like him more.
yeah JR was lieing he had been after wanting control of Ewing Oil since the Goverment took it away from him and Bobby got the company back so long as JR had no control over it.
Bobby is sanctimonious in this clip. I said I felt sorry for JR because at times he was sincere and trustworthy. But then, he'd turn on you. However, if Bobby had only granted JR's wish, it would've been better than to have Cliff Barnes running the company side by side with Bobby that season.
OK, maybe I was wrong. In some way, I do feel sorry for JR. We don't know what made him turn out the way he did. He did have some good qualities, despite the fact that he was rotton.
The scripts by this stage got ridiculously stupid because Larry wasn't thinking straight. Look at the blood-shot eyes? It was rumoured by this stage he was necking multiple bottles of champagne a day. The worst thing they did was axe Sue Ellen. Something even Larry said was a mistake.
Alan Slevin linda gray was ready to go at this point...her storyline had run its course....the producers were not going to renew her contract at the end of season 9....she was not ready to leave at that point n spoke with larry about it....because of the clout that larry had he spoke with the producers and they renewed her contract with a small increase in salary......by the end of the 11 season she was ready to go....larry linda and patrick remained great friends n met the 1st of every month for lunch or dinner...
@@hardren101 Sue Ellen's story "hadn't run it"s course". The writers could have expanded on Sue Ellen being a successful business woman and butting heads with JR. She could have succeeded Wendell as his arch enemy. It fell apart when they cast McKay, Cally and James. The whole "Vanessa" thing was a joke. Why wasn't she mentioned earlier. JR's first love was Sue Ellen plus Julie (His bit on the side). The Leanne thing was a joke too. "Leanne Nelson" played by Barbara Eden now think about it? It was a I dream of Jeannie rehash. Major Tony Nelson was played by Larry Hagman.
@@alanslevin8223 i always thought victoria decided of her own volition to leave at the end of S10....I only recently learned her contract was not renewed....by the end of s10 the producers had decided to dump...Pam,Jenna,ray,donna, and sue ellen......Linda gray was not financially prepared and hagman intervened on her behalf and her contract was extended an additional season (she was not given a salary increase on her extended contract).....
Chase Jackson Victoria did decide not to come back.. she didn’t like the writing.. also she had a skin care line that had been launched.. she has been very successful with that line .. she was or is the richest of most on Dallas.. net worth was over 150, million in 2019
dallas stuck around way to long and lost all of it credibility with the stupid dream season that brought patrick back.....the season finale was a huge let down to the fans....when jock's will was read based on the terms of his will he explicitly expressed his lat wishes that no one but a ewing would ever own ewing oil.....then they turn around n bring cliff in as a partner n by the end of the final season bobby sells ewing oil all together.....clayton is sent back for two episodes with stupid msgs from miss.ellie cause she did not want to return to southfork..(totally unblievable)...
Every body was very old, I could see miss ellie and clayton leaving southfork, new couples need a new home, eve. Bobby Ewing getting a new girlfriend/wife, that acceptable, I could watch Dallas reruns forever on RU-vid or DVDs, but everybody was getting too old
