Yea but it wasnt solely due to Pam, the writers left and she went with them and thats what hurt most. But as long as ole JR was there, they were fine regardless. I know people say orherwise but I remember the time and they were still up there.
So we're to believe that Bobby Ewing was able to disarm and detain an entire bunkhouse of special-forces trained mercanaries? ..... Why is this guy wasting his time in the oil business when he should clearly be working alongside Superman, Batman, Aquaman, etc.?
This storyline is so stupid and unrealistic (even by Dallas standards) that watching it beyond 2:55 was impossible and explains why I (among many) never saw this. Dallas 1978-1981 (featuring Jim Davies as Jock Ewing) and Dallas: The Early Years (Made for the TV movie) was the real art by these incredible artists. The rest was solid work which rapidly crumbled into the mess sampled here and whatever followed.
Season 9, 1986-87, was the last good season of DALLAS. Losing Pam hurt this show a lot, much more than Sue Ellen leaving. They should have ended the show after this season, original season 11, but Hagman was $$ hungry, the main reason he signed on for the reboot in 2012.
When Dallas didn't know how to be Dallas anymore. Utterly ridiculous someone would do this to a rich family like Ewings. Or that Ewings would get away with shıt like this.
That's what I like about original series J.R. over reboot J.R. children were off limits. He picked on people who could handle it (i.e. Pam) or were asking for it (i.e. Cliff). The reboot, which I hated, made it seem like J.R. didn't have a care in the world for Christopher the boy.
Shortly after Christopher was born, JR threatened to tell Pam that he was Christopher's father unless Bobby voted his shares of Ewing Oil in JR's favor. It was only after a blood test revealed JR wasn't Christopher's father that JR lost his leverage. Later on, JR found Christopher's biological aunt and brought her to Dallas. The plan was for her to seek custody of Christopher, and JR would step in and send her packing only if Bobby helped him take over West Star. So yes, JR thought very little of Christopher and used him as a pawn long before the Dallas reboot.
