Also the cheetah habitat you said was small actually had Mandrills there for a long time at one point. Then they moved the Mandrills over to Primate Place. Then they started phasing out Mandrills by moving them to other zoos and got clouded leopards in their place.
I had a feeling the habitat was originally for some kind of baboon or something like that. Usually cheetah habitats are designed to just be an open grassy area like their natural habitat.
Yeah, the African wild dogs are where the cheetahs used to be and then the cheetahs were moved to the old Mandrill habitat in Wilds Of Africa. It is kind of weird that they move animals around like that. I recommend the Fort Worth Zoo if you want to see animals in bigger and more natural exhibits. People who live in Dallas will tell you the Fort Worth Zoo is better.
Love this zoo tour! You could potentially drop a tour like this in 2-3 parts, so each video won't be so long (attention span is non-existent these days xP), but I loved watching this. Also, cheetahs are essentially big housecats, so I'm not at all surprised it meowed back at you, they really be like that around people ^^
I’m from Dallas and that exhibit with the gharials used to house alligators until the zoo phased them out and decided they wanted to work with Asian species instead
Thank you so much for this video! I'm an avid Planet Zoo player so this is excellent for inspiration, but I'm also trying to figure out which zoos to visit when I travel to America this year and this is exactly the sort of critique I need! (Also, I agree, Harpy eagles are the best!)
I also am a big fan of zoo tours since I haven’t actually been to that many different ones. Mostly just the DC zoo a bunch of times. Hope this helps inspire your future builds!
