This was my first time attending the festival and honestly not many people were excited when they announced Nooran Sister's name because although their songs were getting popular their names were pretty unknown to general listeners . But my oh my when they started blasting and went for about 2 hours with the same immense and unbelievable power whole stadium went crazy. People were dancing like they have been possessed including myself. By the time they reached this song 'Mast Qalandar' (which is a famous song in the subcontinent) I discovered I have no shirts on my upper body and sweating profusely from the sheer excitement and joy. Remember it was the winter season in Dhaka. I've listened to many artists and attended several concerts in my life but none of them matched that one gig and Nooran Sisters. Glory to them, glory to the music. Peace ✌️
I was at this concert, it was UNBELIEVABLE in person. By the end we were so mesmerised, such a build up to the end, everyone was on their feet with their hands to the sky in appreciation for about 10 minutes. Never seen anything like it at a festival, they really touched our souls in a way only Sufi singers can. Jyoti’s voice has a lot of power. The Nooran sisters are Sufi Muslims from Jalandhar, Indian side of Punjab so Punjabi is their mother tongue, they introduce the song in Punjabi, but this song is actually in the Sindhi language. This song belongs equally to Pakistan, India and Bangladesh as it’s beloved by all 3 nations and famous artists from all three countries have covered it with their own excellent versions.
Its all about opportunities... I salute the father who gave his daughters this art, this opportunity to shine their light their strength and not hidden away to be seen and not heard...
@@CosmicKey-dj3gx I am an Indian...I don't think we will be happy if our neighbour is in trouble.I request don't wish bad for anyone..Real Indian culture says वसुधैव कुटुंबकम
Totally agree! Came here via Andre Antunes' remix bc I wanted to hear what they sound like without the metal part. I'm even more impressed by the original. They're kiling it!! 🔥🔥🔥
i am from Afghanistan and i dont even know the language but when i listened to these i forget all my tension and comes tears from my eyes. it is magic..
I don’t know the first thing about this kind of music, I stumbled across this video (33M views? What could it be?). I’m completely stunned-this one of the most stunning musical performances I’ve ever seen. These two are geniuses.
Divine stuff. At 5:58 it seems like she kinda "improvised" the melody and showed the tabla player with her arm gestures how the beat is supposed to be. And then at 7:37 she goes to the same verse again but this time the tabla player plays the beat as she had instructed him previously. Love it!
Listennnnnnn I’m a Black Gospel singer and this thing here was POWERFUL!!! I have no clue what they were saying but music communicates in a soul level 🥰🥰
It's powerful, I agree. The genre is Hindustani classical, more precisely, Qawali. It tells the story of a medieval Sufi saint, Lal Shahbaaz Qalandar, revered by the Hindus and Muslims alike
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dama_Dam_Mast_Qalandar . I listen to Black Gospel and get the same chills and sense of connection to the sublime, and I am an atheist.
These are mystic poems in deep love by Baba Bhullay Shah, Shahbaz Qalandar, other Saints, of Indian region/ Pakistan, praising the Holy Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him and His progeny i.e Daughter Fatma, Son in law Ali, and Sons Hassan and Hussain Peace Be Upon Them All.
This song means so much to me as a Sindhi, given it’s a Sindhi song. But what’s so special is that it’s sung in so many countries and I think that’s beautiful. I grew up hearing this song in Sindhi functions. I grew up with my Pakistani Sindhi father playing this, as did my Indian Sindhi mother. This song means so much to me, like my people are hugging me and my ppl (on both sides of the border) didn’t have a burdensome history and events. Loved it
If only Hindus and Muslims could come together more often forgetting their differences and uniting their cultures. I want to live in a world like that.
there was no Pakistan when this was first written. There was Sindh, however. Modern people forget that culture is mostly the result of thousands of years of human evolution not only political or national (countries/state government are a modern thing).
Jyoti, tumne mere kai bhram tor dale. Damadam ke pahle ka aalap, sach me noorani hai. Your voice is more than 100 lata and 1000 aasha. You are for 7 billion humankind.

This prove that there isn't any greater drug than being in love with your passion..hats off both of you Mam..I am so touched by your performance🥺🥺🥺🥺.🙇♀️🙇♀️🙇♀️🙇♀️
that is one of the best part of being in India as an expat teacher, enjoying their beautiful, unique and rich culture. These two folk singers live what they sing. I don’t need to understand that language but their voices and bodies say it all.
Oohhhh myyyyyy Goooddddd! I've heard many songs of these sisters ... But never saw them performing on stage .... N my God! I swear .... Hve never known such beautiful performers exist.... They perform with so much passion, madness, pleasure,... Like this is the only thing in life they want and theres no other chance ... M sure more than a fan nw .
Every time I come here, my comment has disappeared. I don't speak a word of Punjabi, but I love how catchy the lyrics are & the drums, their shouting, singing and all of it is so fascinating & beautiful. 💃🏽Their energy levels are insane!! 🔥🙌🏽
Then welcome to Punjab 😊 They are from Ludhiana is city of Punjab (India 🇮🇳) I am from the same city or state. Check their another song (Tung- Tung) was also shoot in same city. you can see them in a Music concert like this. Best time to visit Punjab December to March😊😊😊
@@tejubaiyabemisaal808wrong it's Punjabi language clearly I understand every line of this but in reality i don't understand a single word of sindhi i am Punjabi 🇵🇰
sheen rose if you really enjoy this song try 2 singers “Dama dam mast by Shazia Khushk or Nurat Fateh Ali khan” then u get real essence as they are pioneer of this song
They have sung beautiful, but I will recommend you to listen to this in Mam Abida parveen or Ustad Nusrat's voice ........ you will forget everything ❤❤❤❤❤
Gives me goosebumps and I have no idea what they’re saying. I love how conversational and energetic their music is. You can tell they love it. Much love from the states
People who are saying this is random screaming, i'm sorry to say, this is not for u. Devotional songs are meant to be performed like this. Just like people who don't understand opera, or heavy metal, may consider those as random screaming. This is also a branch of music which has a method to the madness. Someone also said it seems like they're faking the devotion. No, they're not. Would u say a great actor is faking it when he performs in a movie? It is called PERFORMANCE. They're performing it for us. Enjoy it. Not many people in the world can perform this type of qawalis anymore. God bless them!
These two sisters are remedies for whatever stress you have. They are sent by God to flaunt what he can create. They should live forever. If you try to describe their singing, you can't and you shouldn't. Just get immersed in it.
Abbas Rizvii u na @naqui u both are asshole extremist ... Hazrat Ali RA is our Shabah nd cousin of our Prophet .. We sunnis respect nd love all shabahs and at the top of this list the Khalifah
these sisters are on whole another level altogether.. such exuberating presence and power packed performances... enjoying this in 2020.. such a delight after so long... ^_^
It's so strange how different vibes and cultures can feel. Totally different formats and peaks and valleys and tempos and arrangements and styles. One can feel like ones city or area is basically how everywhere else operates, but thousands of miles away people are doing awesome and amazing things that we have no idea what feels like. I grew up in Japan and the USA and there are a lot of similarities and some differences there. But India i have never experienced anything like this. But it's simply incredible the diversity of existence around the world. Mad respect. I'm sure there are some things we could learn from how India vibes.
Was lucky to be in the first row during this performance, amazing experience - they got the whole stadium rocking. Very little of that craziness is caught in this clip. A memory to treasure forever.
I hope and pray for the percussionists .... They are playing with their fingers and palms, maintaining crescendo for the entire duration to meet the energy and tempo of The Legend Nooran Sisters is in itself legendary. The Nooran Sisters and the band are all sitting and performing 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
