I'd say Ryan is the newbie of the bunch, but he did real good. Great throttle control and kept the momentum as opposed to stopping all the time. Great job Ryan. Stock axles and smaller tires can still do what needs to be done. Now you guys need to learn where your tires are and your rigs more, so you know where the trees are and to line up the obstacle. Keep that setup Ryan, you see how tight it was for 392 with all those axle mods. .... And less spotting. Try it on your own first, then spot if help is actually needed. Should just be able to drive through all that.
Specific to your issue with the 392 only using 2WD even though 4WD is engaged. I’ve had a similar issue going into the desert with the 392 only using 2wd. I noticed when I removed the Tazer , everything worked fine. I contacted Tazer and at the time in ‘22 when disabling traction control, the Tazer, would force 2wd automatically in the 392. A second step to disabling traction control with the Tazer, was to put it into 4wd using the Tazer. (Same menu item to force 2WD in the 392) This may have been fixed in later versions for the 392, but may be something to check now as this was a 392 specific issue. Otherwise could be the TC.
I’m dealing with a TC issue on my ‘23 392 right now. It’s at the dealer now with 7500 miles and there is a newer TSB out for ‘21-‘23 392’s that reprograms the DTCM and replaces the transfer case motor actuator if necessary. I was told they are doing both on mine.
And the worst part is the T case on the 392 is specific to the 392, which of course is something like less than 5% of wranglers produced in a certain year so the parts are hard to come by.
Your 392 is a beast. I'm nervous about the one I have on order hearing about the steering and transfer case issues that I am hearing from multiple sources.
More lift wont get that diff off the ground, unless you go with portals. Bigger tires will. Time to go 37s. Those high clearance fenders look like there's plenty of room. Happy to see an actual wheeling video!
I've seen some AWD transfer cases don't like to shift unless on level ground. Also seen some 392 cases were low on fluid causing issues. I'm sure y'all will figure it out.
I'm in jersey I've had jeeps all my life never had the pleasure of being able to wheel. My recent jeep is a 2023 jlu rubicon with extreme package. I'm willing to meet up in PA and break the jeep in with my 1st wheeling. I would love to get that badge of honor
Beautiful video truly amazing scenery. I gotta say you talk too much as a spotter. The "yep, yep, yep, yep, yep" made me want to go help Ryan by turning the walkie off. 😊
@brandonpollard8928 you haven't seen a 40 year old jeep go down a trail, or a square body chevy go across a swamp without issue....been under a rock my dude
