Sometimes you just wanna make a big ass tanto. This blade features a gorgeous piece of Lorien forge damacus steel that I've been saving for years. It has a wonderful bold pattern which looks beautiful polished up. The handles are curly Blackwood with a stunning figure and depth that's hard to capture on camera. The knife also features carbon fibre liners, micarta pins and a tapered tang. The knife is balanced nicely and feels POWERFUL in the hand.

Just out of curiosity - is there no other way but to hold a fairly Sharp blade in your bare hands against a rapidly rotating tool? Seems super irresponsible. But If that's what knife makers do and the risk they take then I get it!

It is pretty much the standard for us knifemakers. I will say, I have only ever had a problem with the buffing wheel ripping things out of my hands!

Using any tool comes with a certain level of risk. Skill, experience, and not being complacent make using tools safe (or safer at least).

Its not the safest method in the world. I do have a stop that I normally use when I'm not filming (gets in the way for the camera) and I usually drill so the edge is away from me

Sick blade. The handle looks stunning. Do you use nail polish as a resist for the ferric up the spine or is that just the little brush from one? Congrats on the newfound freedom from lockdown too mate.

Great knife, not so great sheath. Definitely would be cool to see this with a stainless super steel core for the blade edge, something that would provide a faux hamon that would be visible all the time after the acid dip.

I like that relief cutout in the scales, at the spine, where the handle starts. Really nice detail. Leather or wood would have been nice for the sheath.

I’ve noticed you have finally given in and are using more dead trees for handles.... I remember back in the day you steered well clear.... amazing as ever.. I need more info on that centre finder scribing jig you used..... need it! Dom killing it as always
