Absolutely! It’s classic cinema. And Landsbury’s performance is outstanding, she steels every scene she’s in with her comic timing and over the top antics. She was the greatest character actress of her time who failed to win over Hollywood with her many brilliant performances. It was a travesty she never won for the Manchurian Candidate

The modern technology plays huge role in the latest version. All the scenes, shot from the height of the birds eye, gives that feeling of grandness of the Egyptian heritage. It is a good Picture film to watch in the cinema. Unfortunately the cast wasn't as impressive and memorable as in first version. 🤔I THINK!

The music in the short clip they showed of the boat leaving the dock is just perfect. I saw the film in the theater and that theme gives that little boat the importance it deserves in the story, like the Titanic leaving the dock in Southampton. So let's not forget the movie score, either. As for Salome Otterbourne, it seems to me she's Madame Arcady, whom Lansbury played not all that long ago, on steroids, or rather gin. As with _Murder on the Orient Express_ , the producers assembled the perfect cast for this film. Lansbury mentions the comedy and she really hams it up (along with Niven and Ustinov). The amazing thing is that she makes Otterbourne completely believable. That's acting skill.

I saw her (and James Earl Jones) in 'Driving Miss Daisy' in Melbourne. Waited around the stage door as soon as the show was over in the hope of seeing her but was told by theatre management she had long since hot-footed it back to her hotel. Then in 2014 in London I noticed she was playing in 'Blythe Spirit' (though, sadly, didn't get to see it). The woman is unstoppable!

Just goes to show that sometimes (or many’s the time) the public gets it wrong. And the critics, as well. I remember the negative connotation when this film came out: “Death in the Aisles!” I can only think that it referred to the length of the film and the inability to enjoy a great motion picture during the time of Star Wars. And today, you can’t find a more beautiful production and perfect casting than Death on the Nile. Some treasures are meant to be discovered in plain sight but years later.

For more than 2 decades, "DEATH ON THE NILE" was my #1 favorite Agatha Christie film. And then, one day, I finally was able to figure out and REMEMBER what was going on in the extraordinarily-complicated "EVIL UNDER THE SUN"-- and that surpassed it. But only just! I saw "NILE" in theatres twice, 2 weeks apart, and the 2nd time was able to remember every detail, so the 2nd time, it was like watching a COMPETELY-different movie! But "EVIL" never got to theatres in my area. It debuted here on HBO!! Each time I'd watch, there'd be several years apart, and I could never quite put all the pieces together. But then one night I dropped off during the last half-hour. When I woke up, I grabbed a snack, ran the tape back, and watched the last 30 minutes all by itself. IT FINALLY CLICKED. A week later, I watched it again, and for the first time, every bit of it made sense. I've never forgotten it since. The Joan Hickson MISS MARPLEs are even harder to follow. Sometimes, you really do have to watch something TWICE to "get" it.

When I saw "NILE" in the theatre, I had NO IDEA she was really much younger than she looked-- what a make-up job!! It was only after "MURDER SHE WROTE" debuted... and then, I saw "NILE" again (not to mention, "MIRROR") that it suddenly hit me what amazing make-up jobs they'd done on her in those 2 films... especially "MIRROR". I've long joked that Lansbury could do Miss Marple NOW... only, without the make-up.

I was, too. I can watch 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express until Johnny Depp’s character dies, then it drags. 2022’s Death on the Nile was even worse. Salome Otterbourne was a romance writer turned into a shrill jazz singer. Rosalie is now her niece and an old school chum of Linnet Doyle. Surprisingly, Gal Gadot and Armie Hammer are actually not as good as Lois Chiles and Simon MacCorkindale, who weren’t as big stars in the 1970’s as Gal and Armie are in the 2020’s.
