Dame Janet Smith Delivers Savile Report Findings

As part of an investigation into sexual abuse by Jimmy Savile, Dame Janet Smith said there is "no evidence" any senior member of the BBC was aware of his behaviour.
She delivered the findings of her report, explaining it still made for "sorry reading" as she criticised a culture of "virtually untouchable" celebrities, and staff fearful of speaking out: trib.al/HXqzwYF

The world and his dog now claim to have known. All the video clips cropping up on here in recent years with the theme of "creepy". If folk had evidence back in the day, they should have called into a cop shop. There again, just think of all those £M that were being raised to help those same young people being abused.

Only seven and a half thousand views in three and a half years, and out of those only twenty eight comments? Only fifty seven likes, and seventeen dislikes. Very low numbers considering how huge this issue is.

Fair point, but often, reasonable people do not comment because it brings out the armchair experts, and even nutters. I will make a comment now...Savile was protected by police who were pedophiles, and he also associated with Freemasons with the same "interests". it was never proven that Savile was a Freemason, in fact the Lodge denied he ever was, but either way, he had friends in the Lodge as bad as him. And some of those were police, and not your average frontline Bobby either.

The most disgraceful thing about the sordid Savile Scandal was how he was protected and/or enabled for so long I don't blame junior nurses and executives who did want to act but rather senior figures who shamefully ignored them

I was a victim of Jimmy Saville aged 6 years old. The investigation were aware of that and yet it is not mentioned? RIP Michael who also was a victim of Jimmy Saville and was buried on a common by his collaborative social worker.

This is a cracking report -well researched and beautifully explained by Janet Smith. It does apportion culpability well, but it fails to hold the ones complicit to account and to make the call for meaningful retribution. It just a balanced appraisal but without fire. In 2016, heads needed to have rolled. Since then, have they?

Agreed,they knew,,it's coming out ........now...the money flow was to enticing....those in the know are at least partly responsible,,...in other words....."don't upset the apple cart.....sad but true...
