Just imagine being in dame's shoes right now. You see all the superstars go where they want to go but then your own organization doesn't let you go where you want and the nba makes a rule about it
He's demanded a trade to one team only and threatened to sit. No other player under contact (except AD in his final year) has done that. It's not the same as other players, sorry
Imagine players signing max contract extentions and demanding a trade. Dame always had the option to choose the exact team he wants to play for. He chose not to do it, but instead go for the biggest paycheck. 0 loyalty there and he is no different than Harden.
Then he shouldn't have signed a contract with portland. It's like signing a shoe deal with Nike then after a year or two you demand get switched to Under Armour. He was only after the huge paycheck before, and if you're Portland will you allow him do that to you?
@@TunechiFish69420harden, Kyrie, KD. All of them signed extensions and then asked for a trade. None of them have shown the level of loyalty. Remember the alternative was dame leaving for free and Portland gets nothing. If there is no compromise star players will once again leave money on the table to straight up vacate teams like Portland… for free
If they treat Dame like this, what makes them think that the upcoming players won't remember this when it's their turn to make a long term decision to stay in Portland or not.
The Blazers have paid / will pay Dame a total of about $450 million. The upcoming players have already seen that a bag like that is available to them too if they play well for the team.
@@54321dmsk promised a great team around him with vets to win now before signing extension, traded hart who he and the city loved (who opted in) for a pick they can trade come offseason, forced Dame and the fucking starters to sit to let them have a higher pick to trade, then they draft the same position, his projected replacement, drafted 23 and 43 and not traded. what he wanted = vets, he got = babies. dude is not signed as a mentor, ant trent shae, now scoot? stop.
It wasn't so much that Dame said he only wanted to play for Miami, it's that his Agent told other teams to not bother trying to trade for him because he won't play. That, to me, is tampering. Now the Blazers pretty much have no trade options other than Miami and they don't have squat to get in return.
The problem is that Miami doesn't have that much to give. Blame Miami for not having any assets to give up for a top player. The NBA is a business. Miami wants charity.
Miami has the draftpicks. Every team that traded for player like kwahi and pg traded 3 first rounds. Same with harden. Miami can offer Kendrick Nunn and hero. Lol
@@TheShrekagethey can get the draft picks, it was never going to be a two team trade. It will involve three teams, and Portland can definitely get a good package. Portland is just being petty because they are not getting the offers they were expecting
One of the reasons Blazers have been so terrible is they repeatedly failed to surround Dame with non-guard talent. Miami offering Herro and Robinson up to a team with nothing but guards and undersized wings is just an unserious proposal.
@@TheShrekage4 fr picks and cap flexibility is EXACTLY what Portland needs. Now go draft and develop your own winners and stop crying for someone to gift you a contender next to scoot.
@@alainlamour5868EXACTLY. You get the best pieces you can and build for the future. Scoot needs a couple years to develop in the NBA. He needs free reigns to fail and learn from his mistakes. They can't be pretending to contend like this. Start over from scratch with your brand new number 3 pick. He's going to be talented. Let him develop then build around him, hopefully with all homegrown talent.
So the Blazers shouldn't try to get maximum value for Dame just to make him happy? Because that's your argument. He's the 2nd best PG in the league (according to your own words) and a top 75 player of all-time. You seem to forget how long it was before the Nets traded Durant after he made his trade request. It took 7 1/2 months before the Nets to an offer that they would accept and KD had to play with the team he wanted to leave until the trade deadline. The longer this goes on, the more likely the Blazers will get the value they deserve for a top 75 player of all-time. And BTW, don't be gullible. Dame is not going to Detroit. People make up shit all the time. And they do it for clicks and views. Don't help with that.
They always make an example out of the guy who wasn't doing anything wrong. That's where most organizations draw the line because if they lose the guy who's behaving how they like they're losing everyone else soon after
he could've asked for a trade for years lmao but he decided to just chill in mediocrity and cash his check. now he's asking and it aint a good time for the Blazers
@Otto_11 but shouldn't it be though? Like all the moves they keep making show they're moving on to the future I don't blame them. But they shouldn't pretend they aren't. Either way though I'm not saying I think he's wrong but I feel like the league has to draw the line somewhere soon before 5 minute rotation players are telling people where they will and won't play
I wouldn't call Dame's agent contacting teams and telling them not to make an offer as "the guy who wasn't doing anything wrong". Dude has 4 years remaining on his contract and just signed an extension last year.
Are we going to ignore the fact that he said if Dame lands with the heat the Celtics won’t be the favorites? They just added Kristaps, brought Derrick White into the starting lineup, and made some good signings. Along with all that Miami lost Gabe and Max.
We’ll just have to see how this pans out for the Celtics, it looks good on paper but let’s see how they play together, Max and Gabe will definitely be missed and appreciated for everything, but I think the Heat can make up for it.
@@desmondross8395Pistons have a very bright future...last season was a tank job but it just didn't work out in the lottery for them this year . Did the same year before and got first pick cade. They got some great you g talent..Troy Weaver knows what he's doing.
Damian was loyal enough to sign a max deal until he's NBA old. Lillard should have tried to leave year's earlier to his choice destination with a pay cut - but you never hear that narrative. 3 crappy Heat firsts and two non-defensive shooters/scorers - just needs a little more (like a bunch of 2nd rounders) IMHO.
i would be shocked prior to his announcement he wanted a trade some hard facts were put on the table in front of him about timelines and Portland. He seemed to have every expectation that it would come around to Portland every dog has its day but then hard facts hit. i know a ton of Portland fans are ready to burn jerseys but i think he rode it out longer than anyone could expect and should be given leeway for this sizzling burn everyone is feeling now.
How in the world is Herro, Robinson, and a couple 1st round picks even close to being fair trade value for a guy coming off his best season ever, 32 pts 7 ast with crazy efficiency? Dame takes care of himself, is a complete baller and yes is 33 now but he has some great years left in him
The reason that Dame is "unhappy" is because The Blazers have been telling him for two seasons they would build around him. They should have just been honest to begin with.
No they didn’t. He had surgery and was going to be out all of the 21-22 season either way. The years before, when they went to the playoffs, Lillard had some shining moments but blew it against golden state the nuggets and the pelicans. Dame provided talk about loyalty and then completely threw it away.
This is so funny.....Blazers need to get the best return for Dame and Hero is not good enough to be the centerpiece in a Dame trade. Blazers are tanking so they can sit on Dame and be patient. It's Dames fault for trying to force a trade to only one team.
FACTS! There are teams that would trade for him but he just signed an extension last year and has 4 years remaining on his contract. All he had to do was give 3-5 teams and there wouldn't be a problem. Instead, someone got in his ear and said only ask for Miami and they'll send you there, even though all Miami can give up is Tyler Herro.
What loyalty points? He asked for a trade, so 0 loyalty points there. Dame always had the right, not to sign extentions for Blazers. Let's not act he's any different than Harden.
I want to see Portland ride this out. I know Dame isn’t an off ball scorer like Steph but I think mixing that up a bit will be great for him as a shooter. Yeah Denver won this year but small ball is still viable and since 3 is still more than 2 so I think they can make some progress. The key is getting a quality free agent to take that chance.
@@ThinkingCap_ Desperate for what? Portland after Dame’s demand is stuck likely getting far less for him than he’s worth plus Miami doesn’t have the assets to get him. I’m not a Portland fan, I just think their best option is to at least try this out.
@@louderthangod Bro read your previous paragraph over again lol - you talking about Dame staying on the Blazers and becoming a catch n shooter and PORTLAND competing w/ the Nugs w/ small ball I can't even lmao
@@louderthangodAfter Dame forced Blazers to pay Jerami Grant, whatever he wanted before handing his trade request the next day, Portland doesn't even have cap space to add another star.
Miami offering Herro and other guards don't make sense for Portland. Pistons make sense though as theu have boatloads of talent in various positions that portland will need for the rebuild. and Also talking about Lillard's "loyalty" when he's asking such demands in pure BS for me. Yes, he's mad at the org for not having the stars he needs to compete, but don't forget that Portland is such a small market team and these small market teams don't really attract stars to go to their team. portland should get whatever they want wherever they want and not cave in to Lillard's demand. Also don't forget that lillard sign that contract knowing what the teams has done for him throughout his playing years there. In the end, NBA is a business and businessmen do whetever they can to maximixe their asset to their advantage moving forward.
Dame was paid and he's a professional! Only the GMs can decide where to trade them when they are still under contract. . . If you have no plans in staying then don't sign the big extension.
Reverse the situation, 2019 west finals and took out Denver in seven okc in 6 but got blasted by GSW in west finals and Reverse situation if Butler demanded trade, Riley wouldn't just let him walk, and Herro just gives us like 5- 6 shooting guards all your points Brooklyn got a great haul for Durant
You act Lillard was playing for free. So the Blazers are suppose to take a bad deal so Dame can win a chip? May I ask one simple question? How does trading Dame for an undermarket deal help their franchise and keep their fans happy? Just wondering.
They are not treating him DIRTY. he signed what's called a "contract". For A LOT of money by the way for a player on the back side of 30. He could have not signed and left as a free agent. He chose the dolla. Now you get to live with what ever decision Portland makes. You get the best deal you can get from whom ever offers it. He doesn't have a no trade. Live in Oregon and love the Blazers and Dame Dolla. But it's still a business. Time for the NBA as a whole to stop letting players dictate where they go in a trade.
"Lillard would make Miami favorites to the finals." "Blazers think their 33 years old washed player is worth more than Herro." Make your mind up Miami and then go back.
NO matter how fans want Dame to MIA, MIA cant offer really anything that great to POR. Herro and bunch of picks aint going to solve it as MIA is a playoff team, thus lowering chance for a top pick... the only thing that can solve it is when it could be a 3 way (or some even suggest a 4 way trade)...
I'm a Dame fan but you can't sign a super max extension and then selfishly demand a trade to just Miami. His loyalty was naive in a cut-throat business like the NBA because even a poorly-managed franchise like Portland were always going to do what's best for them, just like it should be and just like players do. It's much like the KD in Brooklyn situation with the team having all the power.
I disagree with your take. Dame could have listed 5 teams to be traded to. And he and his agent gave only Miami Heat. What makes it worse is that his agent called teams and told them not to make an offer. That's pure B.S. Duncan Robinson is a salary dump with a terrible contract. End of the day, Miami doesn't have assets to trade for someone of Dame's caliber. Who can blame Portland for wanting to actually get something for trading Dame? Granted, the organization has wasted Dame's prime years, Dame should have been more vocal over the years or requested a trade a long time ago. Yours is a very biased take.
He shouldn't have signed a max contract with portland before. He had the option to request a trade then, instead they decided to cash-in the huge pay check. He still has 4 years on his contract but already demands to be traded? You can't do that to your employer.
@@RandomGuy-in4mp True. He shouldn't have signed that extension last year. But him only requesting a trade to Miami has really hurt his popularity. He went from the loyal player to his agent, calling teams and asking them not to make an offer for him. Turned into a cancer really fast.
People keep forgetting that Portland has lied and manipulated Dame into staying, promising to build a contender around him and then doing the exact opposite for the last two years. Dame should absolutely be able to go to the team of his choice, he's at the latter end of his prime because of their lies. Fuck Joe Cronin, the Blazers, and any fan that doesn't respect Dame's wishes to go to his preferred team.
The reason the blazers did so bad is because we had a terrible gm neil oshay that was absolutely awful when getting small forwards power forwards and centers.
Damn Kobe for staying in LA. One of many conversations Dame had with Kobe. Unfortunately the rookie coach and Paul Allen dying has also initiated a rebuild.
What is the reason he was selected Top 75 of All Time? Dude has brought NOTHING to Portland; he made it so hard for the Blazers to get another Star Player because he kept calling out guys like KG and PG for teaming up. At this point Dame should be traded to the Raptors he wasn’t “loyal” he signed a hefty contract and did his job.
This is a stupid take. We killed the off season. Paid him max contracts every time. We love dame and we love our blazers. We made some trades and some didn’t work out but a lot of players just didn’t wanna come here and who’s to blame for that?
No, he's cultivated a legend with big shots but hasn't won a conference finals game. He doesn't make the players around him better, is ball dominant and sucks on defense. Great shooter though.
Well blazers are kinda screwed because they are now without a star player and they must have time to build a strong team again after Lillard leaves. I mean I don't think that Blazers will build a team that is threat in 2023/24 season so I see them finish lower than the 2022/23 in the western division so I don't really know how they gonna react
Its Dames fault imo, he had 1000 opportunities to left, but he wanted to stay, got the big contract and now he said "I dont play for any other Team then Miami if i get traded" that fcks up his value on trade market...The Blazers had no choice
Why in the world would the Pistons of all teams want Lillard? The Pistons are one of the youngest teams in the league why would they mess up one the best young cores in the league to grab a 33 year old Lillard when they have a 6'7 PG who has more upside than Lillard. That was the most idiotic reach I've seen so far from a youtuber. There are zero repritable sources reporting that Detroit is after Lillard.
Portland will be hated by a lot of people over this and it will be deserved! And Adam Silverman continuing to be a tool, reacting to situations years too late...
Miami's offer looks pretty generous to me. Lillard is only under contract for a year, if memory serves. Lillard's agent won't like my suggestion: negotiate termination of his contract, release him to be free agent now. Of course Portland will resist. But if contract termination, ccontract default (not playing), and accepting Muami's offer are the options on the table, it's pretty obvious what Portland will have to do. I don't feel much sympathy for owners. More player agency, not less, suits me. I'd prefer shorter contracts.
Why were the Blazers stupid enough to not accept that offer when Robinson and Herro have been cooking and Jaquez is currently 3rd in Rookie of the Year Voting.
I feel bad for dame he put the team on his back for 11 seasons and was seen as the leagues most loyal star but when he finally wants to leave they blazers won’t let him leave
People need to drop the loyalty nonsense. It's a business. He's been cashing $50 million/yr for a long time. It's not like he was playing for a discount.
By this, The NBA's Portland Trailblazers are greedy and stingy by refusing to trade Lillard, it shows that The Trailblazers and Adam Silver are being Stingy
He’s been there for like nearly 14 years don’t mind if I’m wrong he’s made the trailblazers legit teams before but the team has failed him for years so just give him his one last chance
you're insane. the heat needs to make a real offer, 4 first rounds for him isn't crazy. if you wanna point the finger at anyone look at Miami for being stingy and not getting another team involved to make it happen. don't blame the blazers for Miami's poor trade proposal.
