Damien in the dark light. More on: peoplefestival.... Filmed and Edited by Jeremiah / Mixed by Philip Weinrobe / Producer Michelberger Hotel, La Blogothèque, Petites Planètes michelbergermus...
I know this is a year old, but I hear a lot of leonard cohen obviously in this song. Maybe when a song or piece of art gives you that feeling we are tapping into the emotions of all the people who developed it, which for western music is a really astronomical number of people and feelings. Anyways cheers to good music!
@@zachsears8438 i hear leonard in almost every one of damiens songs, he even references some on leonards lyrics. i was a fan of damien firt so becoming a fan of leonard was like an epiphany in my understanding of damiens style.
The person who filmed this has such a brilliant eye for frames. It's impossible to play this in the background, I dare you to take your eyes off this. The video seems to sway with Damien's beautiful voice. Jeremiah, whoever you are, I'm in awe.
"It must be tricky, if you see somebody that has that much of effect on you, and you feel like you were totally in love with them, and then you have to go back to your man..."
"Back To Her Man" The look of hunger in a woman with heat Is enough to lift an old man from his knees Like the piece of a puzzle He's been lookin' for He was leanin' to dyin' Now he's comin' back for more The look of a woman When she gets you alone You can't see what's comin' But there's blood in your bones There's powder in your pocket And ships in your sea Well it doesn't often happen But it happened to me Then she goes back to her man Back to her man Back to, back to her man There's a look of war in the way that you go But the lead in your arrow is loose, don't you know? And all that you've got is lost in the game Of picking your own pockets for someone to blame There may be nothin' above the art of love Depending on who you're dreaming of And you can't escape When it feels like rape But who's raping who? Then she goes back to her man Back to her man Back to, back to her man She goes back to her man Back to her man Back to, back to her man She don't love him She don't love him no more She don't love him, love him, she don't love him ...
I think this is everything I wanted from a live session. The intimacy talk, incredible sound, raw emotions, the use of audience as a part of a performance. I feel like I am experience a religious and sacred ceremony.
The only artist that I've NEVER heard a song by him that I didn't like. I listen to all the songs, that's how I discovered the hidden songs at the end of the CD. He's memorizing, captivating and beautiful. I would love to be his friend!
I don't think I've ever listened to an unreleased song by anyone as many times as I've listened to this on this recording and others that have popped up over the last couple months. it's just too good. I keep coming back to listen. hopefully we get an album version this year.
The yearn, the longing, the desperation for a fading memory, a descending shadows, it's like trying to persuade the sunset to stop turning its back to the darkness, trying to retain the sparks of a dying candlelight. Trying to convince God to make someone stay. Very moving and emotional song, one of the best I've heard.
Lyrics; The look of hunger in a woman with heat Is enough to lift an old man from his knees Like the piece of a puzzle he's been lookin' for He was leanin' to dyin' now he's comin' back for more. The look of a woman when she gets you alone You can't see what's comin' but there's blood in your bones. There's powder in your pocket and ships in your sea Well it doesn't often happen but it happened to me. Then she goes back to her man Back to her man Back to, back to her man. There's a look of war in the way that you go But the lead in your arrow is loose, don't you know? And all that you've got is lost in the game Of picking your own pockets for someone to blame. There may be nothin' above the art of love Depending on who you're dreaming of And you can't escape when it feels like rape But who's raping who? Then she goes back to her man Back to her man Back to, back to her man. (2x) She don't love him She don't love him no more Love him, love him (2x) She don't love her man She don't love (2x) She goes back to her man Back her man Back to, back to her man.

I was lucky enough to be at this performance (you had no idea which performance you'd see at this festival.) Damien actually coached the crowd on the "Back to her man" backing vocals and we were all singing along having never heard the song before. It's amazing how well it turned out.
Damien rice with a couple of words can just set free a lot of anger and rage and sadness and I'm so very proud to have played with him last year at my own gig he was there and complimented me on my singing he was such a down to earth lad

Dear God Damien! This song has made me forever speechless. It's the most gorgeous song I've ever heard. I had to hold me tears back when I heard this at work. The way those ladies felt after hearing Leonard Cohen, I 100% feel the same way about you and your work. 💙
[Verse 1] There's a look of hunger in a women with heat, It's enough to lift an old man from his knees. Like the piece of a puzzle he's been looking for, He was leaning to dying, now he's coming back for more. [Verse 2] The look of a women when she gets you alone, You can't see what's coming but there's blood in your bones, There's power in your pocket and ships in your sea, It doesn't often happen, but it happened to me. [Chorus] Then she goes back to her man, Back to her man, Back to, back to, her man. [Verse 3] There's a look of war in the way that you go, But the lead in your arrow is loose, don't you know? But whatever you got, you lost in the game, Of picking your own pockets for someone to blame. [Verse 4] There may be nothing above the arc of love, Depending on who you're dreaming of. You can't escape when it feels like rape, But who's raping who? [Chorus] Then she goes back to her man, Back to her man, Back to, back to, her man. [Chorus] She goes back to her man, Back to her man, Back to, back to, her man. [Bridge] She don't love him (Back to her man) She don't love him no more (Back to her man) She don't love him, love him (Back to, back to, her man) She don't love him no more She don't love him (She goes back to her man) She don't love him no more (Back to her man) She don't love him, love him (Back to, back to her man)
The end of this song brings out a feeling in me that I have never experienced. It makes me want to scream with some unknown feeling. I hope I get to hear you live someday. Thank you for being there in this word.
I’ve spent so many nights since May last year falling asleep to this video ik the entire intro with him talking about the women who were completely in love with Leonard Cohen at the end of the evening 😂😭

How can a melody be so simple and so complicated and beautiful at the same time? This is what you call genius i guess. This melody has existed in the universe for thousands of years like gravity, no one realized it was there. Only a unique mind could hear it and translate it into something we can understand. Thank you Damien.
The art of philosophy, the many depths of this song with his vocals is haunting. ""You can't escape when it feels like rape, but who's raping who...then she goes back to her man" crazy.
Try wearing your running clothes, turn on your cell phone, put earphones in your ears and let Damien Rice's voice come out and start running slowly. It's simply sensational.
it's 2021 and it's been 3 years since I am listening to this magical human being. As she is married to someone else, this song means a lot to me rn. Special thanks to her.

I found Damien's music via my addiction to The Frames and I fell in love with every thing I've heard of his, and sorry Glenn and the lads in The Frames, I listen to Damien more now!
Damien Dear, what you said in the beginning about Leonard Cohen and all your women... I wonder if he realises that it's exactly what happens when someone goes to watch him perform and then has to go back home without him... And, the guy filming this deserves an Oscar for best cinematography.
you know how after a long time you discover a beautiful song and than listen it every hour of every day, than it gets lost in your playlist.....i wish could hear this song for the first time again....
I know that there is only passion for other man.. when flare goes out, that feeling called "love" flies as fast as it came :) True love is not for everyone.. I mean LOVE in the real sens of the word..
I met a girl, we dated few times and our conversations didn't have an ending. One night after having dinner I just kissed her, but little I know she was with someone else. Next day I saw her again and she kissed me and hold my hand, but didn't say anything. All I got was a text saying she's with someone and couldn't see me no more. This song just remind me of.
LeonardCohen is amazing. I am in love with him also. RIP. I am your man is my favorita de él.
1:18 to start the song. I love the little story but for all the fellas that listen to this song again and again and are kinda bored of the skipping like I am, here you go:)
Damien Rice es uno de los mejores artistas que he escuchado, tuve la oportunidad de verlo en Perú hace unos años! y fue espectacular!, casi no hay día que no escuche alguna de sus canciones! Back to Her man y este video me encantan!
I hate when people don't know who Damien Rice is ..how is that possible.. The opening adorable and your really hear his lovely accent and this song it just the best ..its one of his best ! I live this and him 💕
I saw my comment one year ago and that made me realise how much I've grown since. Now this song touches me on a whole different level just like all of his songs. Fucking amazing.
