Impressive dramatic ending no doubt, but the question i had since at first saw this at the cinema when i was 15, is why it took Taylor the duration of a whole movie to realise that he is back on Earth, on a planet which is not only just like Earth in everyway, but also the evolved apes speak English !

He parted the sea as Moses, won the chariot race as Ben-Hur, and painted the Sistine Chapel as Michaelangelo... but this (and the scene at the end) is what he'll always be remembered for.
