This scene was so sad T.T Actually, the whole episode was a misery fest... I thought Rose was a great character and was devastated to see her go. I also thought she was great for Damon, since she's probably one of the first characters in the show we see Damon actually care about at any given point other than Stefan, Elena, or Katherine. He really, truly cared about Rose watching his eyes mist up while Elena hugs him is heartbreaking :(
He does dosent he. It's good acting on ians part. But on damons. When she hugs him he's stiff and tense not really wanting her to lower his wall. Yet when she does he can't help but lower the facade a bit and feel. Yes he doesn't want her to see him hurting. And when she can't see he does let himself care and cry a little bit.
"I feel Elena, ok? And it sucks!" 😞💔 This goes to show that Damon wasn't heartless or without a conscience. Cause he *did* have a heart. He *did* feel. He *did* have a conscience. Sure he didn't always act like he genuinely cared nor did he always use his conscience, but.. *they still were there.* They were just simply hidden behind a wall. But..it was capable of breaking down and Damon was easily capable of being vulnerable. And only Elena could break through that wall and get him to show his real emotions. Even if she didn't always see them, like here when she hugged him. Though I didn't want Damon with anyone but Elena, if there could've been someone else, I would've liked Rose. Cause I felt she was the only other person besides Elena that could bring out the more soft/gentle/human side of Damon. Even though he didn't want to admit it, Damon really did seem to care about her. 💔
Yes. He's sometimes the most vulnerable out of all of them. He's been through a lot and rose genuinely was a good person. She also brought out the sweet gentle side in him. He cared about her even if he pretended not to. When elena hugs him it's adorable and so sad. The next scene is also sad with the road.
0:43 'Jules was coming after me" the way he chokes on his words was brilliant acting. I believed in him being heartbroken and felt guilty. Imptessed by Ian once again and this is one of my favourite scenes in whole show
when she hugs him, he's bracking down because she cant see his face, and he isnt making a noice so she cant tell hes crying. but when she pulls away his face goes straight back to cold and unemotional. amazing acting... and attention to the small details that make Damon amazin.
i almost cried when he almost did :/ he's only a fictive role, but ian plays his role so good, that you can feel every little peace of emotion in damons character
I love how she knows he's hurting and she's there for him. Even though Damon is upset Elena's hug was just the invade of personal space he needed. You can see it in his eyes.
He's not human but he shows good emotions and caring. He's as human as it gets. He says he misses it yet in the fourth season he tells elena " I used to miss being human. Now I can't think of anything more boring". He does care and does change.
Aww yes. Nicely said. I'm sure he was trying not to as to not show elena that he does care. Because if he did cry then he wouldn't want her to feel sorry for him. I wonder what would have happened if he did.
He's so heartbroken, he's freaking furious at everyone including Elena. Elena I know you're his friend, but at least don't go to a drunk, emotional, vampire's house alone 🙄

The tenderness in this video is heartbreaking. He's struggling with his feelings. " What do you want to hear. That I cared about rose. Well I didn't. And I'm not ". Then " I feel elena. And it sucks. What sucks even more that it was supposed to be me. Rose dies because of me. ". You felt guilty. It's adorable. She doesn't go home even when he tells her to and stays there for him. He tries to stay tough in front of her and almost fails. He cared about rose. The facade is really poor. You can see right through it. It's sad when she hugs him. She's there for him and always tries to comfort him. I swear if he hugged her back he would have cried. When she hugs him you can literally see that he's holding onto himself. His eyes look so glassy. He looks so broken. I'm sure that if he hugged her back and stayed in that embrace a little longer he would have cried. He looks so sad. He probably feels it's a embarrassment to cry. She gets him to open up. It's like he's willing himself not to cry because then he'll feel worse and let more of the guilt in. This scene was so emotional. His saddnes is so heartbreaking. He's tough on the outside yet adorably soft on the inside. It's like even when he comes in he's upset and trying not to let himself feel. When elena hugs him he melts a bit because he cares so much about her and she lowers the wall a bit making him think about rose. That's why he nearly cries or does cry behind her back.
and some idiots say ian can do nothing but eye twitching, damon is the most complex character in tvd, and ian killed it, so many actors auditioned for that role but he got it, some people were born to play some roles, ian for damon, i can't imagine anyone else

Definitely. It was harder for him to keep a hold onto himself when she hugs him. It's a gentle movement. I really like it when he portrays human emotions. It's adorable and sad. He probably would have cried then for sure.
I like the episode were rose was dead and she was a ghost and jermy ,elena,and damon was at a motel and rose said to jermy tell elena and damon im rooting for them and jermy was like some uhhhhh😂😂😂

We're on the same page. I can't put into words how much I miss Rose. When we first met Rose she was no different than Katherine. She was hellbent on doing whatever it took to get her freedom from Klaus. In her final episodes she made a complete 180. She went from being an enemy to a protector. At the end of the day Rose didn't give a damn about her freedom. Plus she had a huge impact on Damon: Damon was free to be himself whenever he was around Rose. Damon wasn't boring around her. In the episode "Katerina" (2x09) when Damon & Rose arrived in Richmond to see her friend Slater Damon didn't hesitate showing his aggressive side. Rose was totally cool with that. She never tried to change him. Rose always left Damon with his dignity. Men need that. When Damon told Rose he wanted to meet Slater she didn't question him. "What exactly do you hope to achieve by this?" Rose could have said that to Damon. Instead she stood up & got her keys. Rose challenged Damon. She made him question his life & his beliefs. After losing everybody she loved Rose kept her humanity. Rose never believed a vampire should turn to violence just because they're suffering. When Rose saw the body of a girl she had murdered she was praying for death. Even though the werewolf bite was responsible for Rose losing self-control she was begging Damon to kill her. I like the dynamic between Damon & Bonnie but despite all the women that's been in Damon's life Rose was hands-down the best one.
Crystal Dominique I totally agree. Rose and Damon were so amazing together, too bad, they had barely time. Rose was so much better, than Elena, and she with Damon were a perfect couple. Everything you said about them is true. They belong together!!! I hate so much, that they never had a chance...
everybody knows that feeling where you think you've got your emotions under control and then suddenly someone says something or hugs your or whatever and then you just break down... looked like damon was about to do that in the end..
Officially one of the hardest things damon has ever had to do. Damon isn't heartless his problem is not loving people but losing them that's his biggest fear and he has to re live it everyday.
I think its almost poetic how Damon lost his humanity for Katherine- trying to save her (from the tomb)- and is slowly gaining it back for elena who, in turn, is saving him from himself.
Delena forever. I mean, literally. The actors click, and it's so special and their characters show that. It's so rare, but beautiful. That's why it is easy to fall in love with Delena, and Damon is much more worthy!
Damn it I'm a male whenever I see this scene and it get's me teary eyed, I guess what they say about men having to get in touch with their feminine side can turn men into softies! Damn it why is that when I shut off my Humanity that my emotions always seem to possess me. I thought I could do better without it but It acts like a curse! And it sucks to feel because it weakens others judgement.
Damon, has always been tough around the edges since season one episode one pilot. In season 2 episode 12 The Descent when Rose died I saw how loving and caring Damon was. Underneath the dark surface there was a good guy that was trying to do everything in his power to be a good person. Like Elena said I really think that Damon believes everything that he’s done every move that he’s made he’s done for love.
Oh! Elena loves Damon even more than she loves Stefan.. and their scenes are the most sensitive and beautiful of the show! They are the heart of TVD! =D
awwwwwwwww its so hard to se damon cry!!!!!!! he said in an interview he cried at least and hour after that scene because he had to bring up so many sad things to make himself cr and also when he cried at the end of that episode when he killed that girl when he was drunk and stuff but yea its so hard to see him like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Bella was to obsessed to be so young . Especially that one movie when she hollering the whole movie because Edward is gone. I like both but I think I like TVD better
that could have been the perfect moment for elena to tell damon that she loves him ! I mean there are so many other scenes that are perfect for that or for at least a real kiss...i am happy about the few scenes where they kiss but most of the times it didn't go on as I expected...

I know I'm late because I'm new to this show. But I think it was when Damon first talked about Kat to Elena at her house. She saw through him and said she was sorry for him losing Kat. I think that's the first time someone can feel what he feels and truly cares about him.
I agree!!! I can't believe people accuse Delena fans of only liking the couple because Damon is attractive. BOTH brothers are EXTREMELY attractive but to us Delena fans, Damon and Elena have the strongest chemistry!
