Damon was able to fall in love with something far more than his love for being a vampire. As the character Ira states in "The Longest Ride": "Love requires sacrifice. Always." We all knew that Elena was capable of it. But seeing Damon be able to take that leap of faith...it just showed how much he *truly* was in love with her at this point. He wanted a human life with her, more than anything else in the world. Now that's some real character development. 💯 Ugh! This scene, (as I call: Damon's pre-marriage propsal 😂❤) & their last dance scene will never cease to leave me in tears. 😭❤
This is their surrender parallel. Elena's humanity and Damon's vampirism. Damon got Stefan-visions, Elena got Damon-compulsions. Now, gather up that image of Elena tackling Damon when she fed in 4x1. Because when Damon tells her his choice, she's gonna do the same thing... tackle him in the barn lol. "Well, you never knew Damon as a human. He was aimless. Always searching for something more." Love. That's what he was searching for. That's why Katherine was able to get at him. Oscar told him to follow his heart, and it led him directly to her. Damon isn't anything but a man who loves his future wife. The husband, the partner, the father.... rather than the worker, the leaf blower, the drummer. He finds himself a few seconds of joy in bursting the kid’s ball... then he sees the couple. That's who he is. That’s what excites him. They represent his fulfilled life. "I get to die knowing I was loved. Not just by anyone - by you, Elena Gilbert. It's the epitome of a fulfilled life. It's never gonna get any better than this." I think they chose a soccer ball for the kid because he’s supposed to represent young Damon. Soccer/football with Stefan, then he became a vampire for Katherine. "Well, you're lucky I didn't ruin your face."
Random thought. This made me realize that Elena chose the villain over the hero of the story. Stefan being the hero who was ready to give up Elena to save the world, and Damon being the villain who's crazy in love and ready to *give up the world, just to save Elena.*
Same as for Hope Vs Klaus! As Freya said, that Klaus would burn up the whole world just to save the people he loved! But Hope was killing Landon, to save all the strangers she didn't even know! That makes her the Hero! (P..s this random reference is from legacies when hope was becoming the tribe to kill malivore inside Landon's body)
I would have never cried see this but I always cry 😢 because nina and ian didn't understand that this is just not an imaginary role. It is their love for each other that is reaching to us because only true love can do such a perfect role 💏.....❤
So many girls fall for Damon, and Elena was just thinking that should be choose one of the loyal and handsome person around her?!!???after all she had done done to him, to make him jealous..
