I think this song fit them perfectly. Like Damon did so many wrong things and Elena always forgive him. And there was a scene in s4 where Elena said Damon always think he didn't deserve something so he ruined it but Elena won't let him doing that to their relationship, she won't let him walk away from her. Elena was everything that Damon wanted, she was his life. And Damon's love was also what Elena wanted from life, love that consumed her, passion and adventure. This song is just perfect for them.
