Damon Salvatore 2x12 | Unsteady 

This soundtrack fits Damon's character throughout the entire series. He's unsteady when Katherine rips his heart out. That's why he reaches out to Elena. He's in need of someone to steady him. "Unstable" is the word Stefan and Elena use. When you watch her hug him in 1x14, it's the same thing. That’s essentially what he wants from her in 2x1. But unlike 1x14, he’s in love with her in 2x1. That’s why he kisses her when he should’ve hugged her. That's why he says what he does when he's at the bar... about the ground he walks on being shaky. He's an emotionally unstable person. Rose was the perfect character to show why Damon pretends not to care. Why he acts like a dick to push people away. He feels too much, and it makes him unstable.

But there's only so much hurt a man can take 🙌
