Just Mumei being Mumei. Oh and congratulations to Mumei for having her first song on the official The8BitDrummer channel! For the uninitiated, Mumei's lore is that she's the sometimes forgetful Guardian of Civilization, and so has been testing mankind since the beginning. She's shown in the MV to have caused the Plague, the Titanic sinking, Atlantis sinking, and Bovine Alien Abductions. The original version of the MV was taken down, because some people would misconstrue certain scenes as being too sensitive. This is a revised version with new scenes of Mumei testing mankind. The final scene references a stream Mumei and Gura did reviewing viewer-submitted rooms, because of an off-hand comment Gura made in an earlier stream about looking through people's open windows.

Gotta give Kannaru props, that music video is PACKED with references!

This Mumei video is, quite literally, peak civilization. Years and years of evolution and struggle so we all could watch it together.

For those unaware, Nanashi Mumei is known as 'The Guardian of Civilization'. And what has civilization endured over its long history? Well-

So, the first and most important thing you need to know about this video is that Council is using their "Beeg Smol" models, which were designed by Sana herself, and created so that they could do something in 3D VR as a group before Sana's graduation because HL hasn't finished their real 3D models yet. The second thing to know is that nearly every single second of it is a reference to something that has happened with Mumei on-stream at some point. My favorite one is the fleas (1:02) In a full Council collab for their 6-month anniversary, where they were basically asking questions to the others gameshow-style to see how well they know each other, (22:11 in the original stream:) Mumei asked "What was I up to in the year 1346?" and the correct answer was "collecting fleas." Notable things that happened in 1346-7? The Black Death hit Europe. None of the other Council members caught on to that fact, and she never explained it to them, at least not on stream.

A lot of people don't realize this so I'm just going to mention here that this is a remade cover song. The original is だんだん近くなる (Getting Closer and Closer) produced by 40mp featuring Hatsune Miku. The first version of Mumei's cover was taken down because Mumei and/or management didn't had time to screen it before releasing and subsequently felt uncomfortable with some of the historical disasters depicted within the MV.
