Dan always gives a great interview. He is a consummate professional. He tells lots of stories but never talks 'smack' about any person he ever worked with, even regarding those relationships that we know were filled with friction. I would love for him to hire a biographer and have a tell-all book about his professional experiences, but I do not think that Dan would ever do that. He has too much integrity. Plus, he is still young and I do not think he wants to be perceived as a gossip when he is still keeping his occupational options open.

loved that you gave him a platform, instead of just address all the controversies! Really hope you get him back for another interview, it's so interesting to hear from someone who's actually run the company, instead of just writing for it

I once stopped him at a convention as he was walking around (something I've never done before) and he was an ultra pleasant person. Very kind and nice and just happy to talk to me.

This is a good reminder that even if you disagree with a creative director's decisions, it doesn't necessarily mean they lack any of the passion for the characters and industry that you may have. Great work, Sal!

Despite how much I dislike and have in the past criticized some of his creative vision for the DCU, he's always been a very good dude in interviews, always seems very enthusiastic for the medium and always tried his best to reach new audiences and support the monthly books. I may disagree with him a lot, but I respect Dan. I'm glad he gets to continue his passion for comics following his departure from DC.

This was definitely a very illuminating episode. (Loved hearing all the office stories) Was really cool to see Didio acknowledge and take the comicbook fandom's reactions like a sport. (Irrespective of the final results being good or bad) it's amazing how one needs an immense level of resilience and level-headedness to distance themself from that level of positivity/negativity and stay focused on the bigger picture. Once again, great job with the interview Sal. Please keep 'em coming.

there is an interview somewhere in which he explained by he hated Wally and a I think Dick, but with Wally he basically said that Wally isn't a independent character because his existence relies on Barry being the Flash 1st and arguably the best. this is of course bullshit because that is part of his character arc when he becomes the flash after Barry's death and also because the DCAU had Wally as the Flash without ever explaining Barry.

I don’t get why people just hat this dude. He’s a nice guy, and he means business. Sure, a lot of his decisions were iffy or just bad, but he did really good business. He tried his best and did what he wanted to do, you gotta give him props. I’m really happier for the guy, too. He’s doing something he enjoys. He’s completely fine with Metal Men, and I love that about him. I hope he does well, and maybe gets more stories he could write.

I despise Geoff Johns as a person but his work is solid. Dan Didio has done a lot at DC I didn’t like and a lot that I did like, but damn if he isn’t the nicest person in the world which really does help minimize the stuff I didn’t like. Which is really telling because when Johns causes a problem, his personality really amplifies that problem to 11. But not with Didio.

TheNoddyone I like most of his written comic book work, GL, N52 JL, and Teen Titans being standouts, but his Superman is too heavily copied off of Chris Reeves, like the Bryan Singer of comics in that regard, which feels boring and overplayed as well as tearing down the pervious amounts of growth the character already had in favor of “nostalgia” (which you can argue is a problem with rebooting Hal Jordan and Barry Allen) and Johns involvement with DC television/film is incredibly hard to watch because it’s so poorly written, but most of all it’s his personality that makes me really hate him. His air of arrogance and that “the buck stops with him” in terms of what DC’s characters can or will do is grating. For all the talk of “fostering growth with new creators”, Johns just inserts himself as the end all be all of DC and then insults anyone he personally disagrees with on characters which again just makes him unbearable.

@@roccoborghetti4693 I'm not a fan of Johns's work after the first few years of JSA but I never got that impression of him at all. He came off friendly from what I've heard about him.
