I had told my parents that I am bisexual and they didn't accept it. They were the type of people to change the channel if there were two men kissing and make comments. Thanks to Schitts creek bringing things up so smoothly and naturally, they have gotten better. So thank you Dan for decreasing the conflict and pain in my home.
We all want our parents to except us. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t. But please do not let others judgments diminish your value. You are a valuable person worthy of all the good things this life has to offer. People can only love you as much as they know how to love. What they were taught. What is most valuable is that you find everything you seek from others inside of yourself. Because when you do nobody else will matter. Be yourself because everybody else is already taken. LOL
@@kevinlacoursiere7075 It's probably been a solid 20 years, but back in the day my family and I would stay at the Lethbridge Lodge when we went back-to-school clothes shopping at the Lethbridge mall. I remember thinking that place was pretty fantastic as a kid. Then again, I thought shopping at the Lethbridge mall was pretty fantastic coming from a small town in southeast BC.
If one more RU-vidr comments on Dan’s eyebrows, as if they’re saying something original...... AAAAARGH!! Just stop already. Yes, we get it. The Levy’s have strong eyebrow game. Can we fucking MOVE ON from that now???
He is so Canadian .... Nicest people as a whole.... The healthcare for all, the smaller gap between rich and poor (social safety net) and ... knowing, because of the weather, you will at some point need to help and be helped ie sub zero temperatures keeps anyone humble!
I watched his new limited series "Good Grief" about the death of his partner (fictional), and it reaches you on a human level, not just from an LGBTQ+ perspective. It's about how humanity handles deep, profound grief. I adored "Schitt's Creek" and to follow it up with this was nothing short of extraordinary. The Levy's are an incredibly talented, brilliant family, who has their finger on the pulse of the social issues facing the world. God bless.
I am lucky enough to be a Mama Bear on that letter to the cast and to Dan Levy. You have made such a huge difference in the life of my son. Giving him a role model to look up to and improving his own self image. Thank you thank you thank you!!
I ugly / happy cried during that entire section. Thank you Mama Bears! We need you in Singapore!! I’m running a group for LGBTQ+ youths and we need more family voices for support. So thank you!.
I'm curious what process went into drafting that letter. Was it a collaborative effort in your group? It was so well written. Whoever was the primary writer needs to be commended. I am guessing that it will forever be a touchstone in Dan Levy's life. Great job to you and your group!
I have not seen or heard of this letter till now as our internet has been very sketchy the past while. If someone could post a link I would be REALLY grateful!❤❤
Currently watching the show with my 92 year old father...who did not speak to me for 12 years when he found out I was gay...we’ve had him back with us for 16 years now...so thx to Shitts Creek for making it normal.
Love Canada! I took my very first college Christmas (winter) break to Quebec in 1970. Been going back to Canada for vacation and conferences ever since. I also love that the Levys/Roses are comfortable with being Jewish. I just want to hug them. It all just worked so well together.
Dan Levy is my permanent crush, at 66 I can't get past it. Great human, great talent. LOVED the happy ending twist in the end, let me have some good laughs. God bless the Levy's!!
Um...47 year old straight woman here, and I am crushing so hard on him. He is so articulate, and the love story of David and Patrick makes me so emotional. LOVE HIM!
I feel like Schitt's Creek ended in a way where they could easily do a spin off of Patrick and David's life, or even Alexis in NYC and I'm HERE FOR IT!!
I respect Daniel and the character of David not wanting kids, but I think it would be so funny to see him deal with kids. Also I think David would make a good parent.
Schitt’s Creek very very quickly became my favorite television show ever. Dan, to see a story of two men falling in love without fear of hate, dislike, or anything else has been absolutely breathtaking to see on screen. You’ve done so much for the LGBTQ+ community and I’m so happy someone like you exists. Thank you for everything. Best wishes, warmest regards ❤️
If you haven't seen it, you should watch Skam, a Norwegian web/tv series about teenagers and their issues growing up. Season 3 deals with a boy's coming out. Google 'Skam english subtitles' and you should find it. Fans provided the subtitles, because of geoblocking over music rights. It became so popular that there are at least 7 remakes in as many countries.
I've watch every episode, every season, SO MANY times, I keep catching new things, under the breath quips, certain looks, so many intimate details, it's been fantastic.
If my parents were like the Levys, Roses or Brewers, my life would be entirely different. I'm overwhelmed with love and gratitude to Dan and the SC crew for creating this atmosphere of love for LGBTQ+ folks
I am also one of the Mama Bears from the letter. I am so pleased to see how well it was received by so many. It has brought an influx of Mama's who have joined our group. Welcome to all the new Mama Bears. Also, Dan Levy for all that you have done for your kids.
Finally decided to binge Schitt's Creek. All six seasons. Began maybe 2 weeks ago. Just finished this afternoon. I cannot think of anything better to binge while stuck at home during the CV pandemic. David & Patrick's love story is one for the ages. I haven't felt so connected and in-love with TV characters (and I mean EVERY character in this series) since Friends. Move over Monica & Chandler: you have competition for greatest TV love story of all time.
Hey me too I've been off work for weeks and watched this over the last two weeks. I didn't want it to end! Some brilliant performances and lines in there and I don't think I could love the character of David more than I do!
I agree. In the Hot Wings interview, they went over all the jobs he “hustled” before he became a writer and it’s easy to see how this developed his empathy and humbleness. He mentioned also in another interview (yes I am stalking him) how acting with his fellow actors iwas keeping him cognizant of their needs. What a sweet human being! I want nothing but goodness in an environment where he can continue writing his wonderful material.
Dan Levy is such a dream. His heart is huge. He is as clever, as funny, and as attractive as any man can be. To go on farther would be gratuitous, but really, and truly... I am wholly smitten.
I'm so heartbroken! Schitts Creek is the ONLY show in 39 years I have loved like I do. Bravo! I'm so thankful I can watch it over and over again and it never ever gets old! Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Yes, the little show that could and did. It was a small miracle. I am a 59 year old gay man, i have been waiting for this TV portrayal of a gay couple for 30 years. Congratulations Mr. Levy, you changed the world for the better.
I’ve never liked a show as much as Schitt’s Creek. I’ve never felt as safe as when I’m in its world. I’ve never known love as free to grow as when I’m watching it. It’s not been an easy few months for any of us, but knowing that it will always be there for us makes everything ok. Thanks to Dan, Eugene and all the cast, crew and writers for creating this perfect gem of a show that has shown us how beautiful the world could be. We will forever be indebted to them for the joy they have given us in 22 minute segments and I wish them nothing but the best of luck with all future endeavours. The decision to make Schitt’s Creek a homophobia and bigotry free zone was a huge paradigm shift. It modelled how beautiful it would be to live in a place where David’s Pansexuality, Patrick being Gay, Ronnie being a Lesbian and Jake being Bi/Poly/Hedonistic are what they are and didn’t need an anxiety ridden episode where it was discussed and then accepted. Dan will never truly understand what he has given us or how much this beautiful creation has meant to us.
His teeth are so white... So jelly. He's so gorgeous, fabulous....ughhhhh Also... there needs to be a spinoff with Patrick and David.....P.S. His mom sounds amazing and supportive and I wish I could meet all of the Levy family.
When I was much younger I had a gay friend very much like Dan, his name was Jim. I'm a 70 year old widow I still think of Jim every time I watch Schitt's Creek, I miss Jim. Thank you for bringing back some great memories.
**I just finished binge watching this BRILLIANT series. Tears of sheer touching joy streaming down my face. THANKS TO THE PHENOMENAL 👏 🙌 DAN LEVY. I'VE NEVER BEEN PROUDER TO STATE I'M A CANADIAN 🇨🇦🤗**
Dan is my new favorite human. His kindness, compassion, and intelligence are an inspiration. Having grown up in an incredibly homophobic, indeed “differntphobic” environment in the 1960 and 70s, and having met many people ostracized for who they were - for their race, gender identity, or disability - I cannot express in mere words how important you have been to society and humanity. I only wish we could somehow eliminate the need for your enlightenment. Thank you, thank you. This old guy really loves you with all his heart for the joy you have brought to him and to this sorry world. Bless you.
Dan, I love you and your cast, and thank you for your honesty. Your mother is a beautiful person! James, you are a very pleasant, prepared and experienced interviewer and made David feel comfortable enough to express himself so honestly and so beautifully. Thank you both. Ground breaking show in its own right❤️Worthy of more awards than it received!
I remember watching this obscure program streaming for free from some streaming service and thinking another program I'll start watching and it will be garbage. No, not even close. It was hilarious from the moment Moira was yelling you can't put these wigs together because they didn't get along when the Feds were raiding their house to everything in between. I haven't watched the last season yet waiting for it to be broadcast on N.F. I do believe this is one, if not the greatest programs of this era. I just enjoyed the hell out of it. Kudos to the Levy's for putting this great piece together. One I will watch over and over until the end of my time. I thank you for entertaining me and having something to look forward to thru these years.
Dolores M ... My Daughter and I have binge watched it thru the quarantine... Always loved Eugene... And Catherine... true Canadiana Icons... But Only Just started following Dan’s Carreer ... Brilliant, Classy, Funny, Doesn’t-seem self absorbed... Great role model for young and old... Just Hilarious... ❤️🇨🇦👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Finished Schitts Creek recently and am now down a hole watching you tube videos with the cast. As a mom of a three year old daughter, I was so moved by the tweet from Dan’s mom -and by Dan’s vision for the town in the show ❤️May we all be putting energy towards a world that accepts and loves all our children for who they are.
What a lovely interview. I love Dan so much and how he talks about the show and just generally. Could listen to him for hours. And also, how is he so gorgeous all the time? Seems unfair.
I, too, feel so fortunate, and humbled, to have my name on that Mama Bears' letter. Words just don't suffice, but a heartfelt THANK YOU - Dan Levy (and cast & crew) and James Corden!
Thank you for being a positive role model and a great human being from the inside out. I hope, Dan Levy, that you keep spreading positivity and love in the world.
Really hope they get the recognition they deserve during awards season next year! Catherine O'Hara deserves that Best Comedy Actress so much! And for the show to win Best Comedy Series.
Catherine should win based solely on her Pope outfit for the wedding. That was absolutely hysterical and something only Moira Rose would do for her son’s wedding.
I can't express how much I adore Dan. He gives me hope in comedy again. He's just genuinely funny on a natural level. Can't wait to see what else Dan will do next.
I love how far Canadian television has come, internationally. I remember just a few decades ago when the quality and budget were so low, virtually nothing we made was heard of outside of Canada, while American productions were widely known. We actually have broadcasting law up here that ensures that a sizeable portion of radio and TV content is Canadian, to protect and promote our own cultural works within Canada. Without that, we probably wouldn't be at this point because Canadian creatives wouldn't have been able to compete for a platform with the culturally-dominant American and British content.
I've just finished watching it today and I absolutely loved it. The humour seemed very british as it was very satirical and sarcastic. Genius! I also really enjoyed watching working moms. Very much enjoying Canadian shows. Keep them coming!
He's my favorite character on the show for sure. He put me in touch with the higher ideals of being honest and hilarious at the same time, as well as his fashionista sense of style and elegance.
I fell in love with David as soon as I started watching the show he was so endearing everyone was great but I couldn’t get enough of him and he’s just as great in person. Love you too James.
Dan is so genuine and I loved this show! It’s such an important show and I truly loved every moment of it. I appreciate what dan and the entire cast/team/crew has done with this show!
To be honest, I had low expectations when I finally clicked this on Netflix. I just didn't know what to expect, especially with that title. But I'm glad I finally clicked it. I binge-watched Schitt's Creek few weeks ago and I absolutely loved it! It's funny, heart-warming, and all the characters are great. I am now watching it again. Also, I've been watching anything Schitt's Creek-related on RU-vid. Dan Levy is a treasure.
It’s November 2022 and I still fall asleep EVERY night watching and listening to Schitts Creek on Netflix. It’s my happy place. I like the love and acceptance and seeing a world where all love is presented in a wholesome way. I enjoy the evolution of Alexis the most but all the characters are hilarious and moving and sweet.
Dan Levy created a masterpiece when he wrote Schitts Creek. I can’t get enough of it!!! As I watch interviews or videos with Dan Levy or the cast I start to miss the show, so I log onto Netflix and watch a few episodes again. Gives me all the feels!!!
I was lucky enough to be background for one of the more famous scenes: Asbestos Fest. Back in April, 2017, I was in Season 4 Ep3 for the end when David and Moira sing their Christmas set. The BG actors got to sit in the “Cafe” in between shooting. At the time, of course, Schitts Creek was just starting to take off. I had the absolute pleasure of sitting with Dan Levy backstage (I had lingered on set, everyone else was in the Cafe already, and Dan walked out with me from the “Town Hall”. He invited me to sit down with him, and we talked for the next twenty minutes till he had to go do the part with the singing with Catherine. He was an absolute delight to talk with. What you see here is who is truly is. Sweet, intelligent, eloquent, he was starting to come to really hear about the show was taking off and was so pleased. I’ll never forget this. And yes, I can see myself in the audience, hahaha!
Loooooove love love love these two humans. I'm so happy I exist right now in this world while moments like this are so powerful. I love seeing the world change- thank you James and thank you Dan- keep doing what you're doing! It's so important!! 💕
I came late to Schitt'sCreek and it literally saved my life. After a hospital stay due to sepsis (not fun) i got home and never stopped laughing which is the best medicine there is. I adore the whole group and thank Dan for his creation. I am in my third watching of the series. Thank you all - you will be with me always. love, jane
Schitt's Creek... A phenomenally well written and acted out program that brings out all the feels! I will miss watching! I will miss the dialog! I will miss cheering on the evolution of every character and so wish it didn't end! 💖
I LOVE YOU DAN LEVY!!! From watching you on Schitt’s Creek to watching you on interviews. You ARE A BEAUTIFUL SOUL! It makes me want all the Dan Levy’s of the world a part of my inner circle. You ARE precious and wonderful. And you DESERVE THE WORLD!
I've long been a fan of Eugene Levy, and Christopher Guest movies. In fact, I had Eugene Levy in my Tivo, which was how I stumbled upon Schitts Creek way back when it bgan, and have been a huge fan ever since! Dan followed beautifully in that tradition. I adore the schitt out of Schitt's Creek, and trust that there will be more brilliance to come from Dan!
I am a 67-year-old retired woman and I just loved this show!!! I was saddened to hear that the six season was the last. I have enjoyed binging seasons one through six about four times or more. Good luck to all the cast.
He is such a gorgeous man. The type you want as your bestfriend, when you don't know if they are serious or joking. Love a little mystery in my friendships 🤣
I loved this Netflix show. I never heard of the Levy's until someone recommend the show. I'm hooked. After I watched the last episode, I was 😥. I felt like they were gone and I miss them. Everyone was great! I can't say enough about the cast.
Daniel Levy, you are a treasure. So happy to know your parents support you. I have followed your dad's career for years. To see you and your sister and your dad provide us with such educational entertainment makes my heart sing.
Best show in the past 10+ years!!! - all of the characters are perfect. The story is hilarious but just in the perfect way. I’m totally addicted to them all!
